Look, the windows and doors are good and all but, actually, I was super impressed with that little garden - the amount of fruit/marrow growing amongst those few plants was incredible! It bodes well for a very productive future garden I reckon. Great work with the shower too. 😉
Hey :) thank you, i was surprised at the amount of growth in that garden that's for sure. The wife has grand plans for gardens including strawberry's down the back side of the retaining wall and teared garden best setup behind the shed. Its all time and money i guess, we will get there ☺ Thank you for the comment 😁
Its not fun walking up haha! we will cut a trail in that will zig zag down the hill to the other side eventually. The sower is great! we have since made one for the toilet and another one as a laundry :) will have a new video out soon with the doors getting cut into the container and the other IBC creations :)
Sean, that was a few very satisfying uploads to see someone else tackling the offgrid lifestyle. It does take a lot of time, effort and planning between work and life but its totally worth it in the end. I ABSOLUTELY want to see how to build that IBC shower container as we have a setup between Mt. Perry and Gin Gin in Qld that needs a simple yet effective bush shower. Cheers mate 🍻
Thank you :) we would love to do a video on the IBC setup. we will have once out in the coming weeks as we have another one in the build now for a little laundry room. Your property sounds close to ours! If you have Instagram jump over to our Instagram and send us a message, you can come see it in person if you like. @off_grid_aus
100% other than the trailer its the best purchase we made, $300 off Facebook marketplace! Had to fix a few things as we went however nothing major and generally speaking the older mowers are easier to fix, less fluff if you will hahah
Im 2ish hours north, 15mins south of Gladstone, all the humidity & odd shower lately (raining now), and we have that shitty clump grass everywhere, spent 4 hours today whipper snipperin' as my ride on is out of service- again (stay away from Cub Cadet). We got these Cyclone tiedown blocks they you bury, and chain the container to (apparently can hold our 40ft upto 120kmh sustained wind), container is about 6" off the ground. Edit: Burgerman chips- man after my own heart
Yea the grass is crazy at the moment, never seen it like this. just need to keep on top of it i guess. Nice, ill have to look into those blocks, its rock under the container with a think layer of dirt so ill need to look into a way of securing it to the ground especially with the roof top bar 😂 Cant go wrong with Burgerman chips aye 🤤
I'd like to go off grid one day, but its just me and my grandma. I wouldn't have a clue where to start. I can't even find a acre or two of land that I can afford
I feel your pain, we still have no idea what we are doing, everything is self taught, UA-cam tutorials etc. I'm in media and partner is in finance haha 🤣 possibly the most underqualified people to take on a task like this. As for finding land this can be a headache. We spent 3 months looking before we found this block. It's 6 hours away from where we work and 45 mins from a major town so we made some sacrifices to bring the cost down and we spent the past 2 years getting set up to move to the property full time. Basically it comes down to time and willingness to make it happen 🤙 never give up hope, all the answers can be just around the corner at any moment 🙏
It's funny how most councils want a container flat on a slab to "prevent pests", but all of the container companies I've dealt with recommend putting them on blocks or something similar to prevent moisture build up under the floor. I'm looking at building a camp/summer kitchen. Then I'm thinking about gradually enclosing it using old aluminium screen doors from Marketplace and the local tip shop and laying them horizontal and screwing them to the uprights. I'm a big fan of reusing/repurposing things. I grew up doing it and it's second nature by now. Pallets and IBCs are awesome making things out of. "Roof-top bar" eh?........(rubs chin thoughtfully) Keep the vids coming mate. It's all good!
Some councils have some stupid rules that's for sure. Yea we got told the same, there needs to be air flow under the container unless you pack it with insulation and then drop it on a slab even then you can risk it sweating. We plan to fit it to some feet then once the wiring and plumbing is done we will add a timber skirt to make it look pretty and stop snakes and other animals getting under there/chewing the wiring and plumbing. I love tinkering and not a big fan of purchasing basic items for astronomical prices when something with a bit of dirt on it that requires a little elbow grease will do the same thing and cost next to nothing.🤷♂ Roof top bar is a must, even the wife agrees 🤙
Love the shower idea. Great value

@@offgridaus you will, for sure. And if you had all the time and money to make it happen instantly, it wouldn't be nearly as satisfying. 🙂
God that hill is steep, love the shower!!

Coming along nicely. Awesome view too.

Hi mate. Love the videos. Like your work. We are doing exactly the same thing as you. And we are neighbour. (from the Coast and the new block land 😊)

@@offgridaus yeah I told the boss about the bar and her only issue was my bad knees lol. She's already half-designed it.
Whereabouts are you? We are also fairly close to Bundy, Cordalba
We are just outside of Bundy inland 🤙
