POST REGO GVM/GCM UPGRADE | 79 SERIES LANDCRUISER BUILD PART 5

- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- Time for the GVM/GCM upgrade, but this time we do it a bit different and get the work completed after the vehicle is registered. There were a lot of people telling us that it was so much harder and way more expensive to do it this way. Well we were pleasantly surprised how cost effective and easy it is. The guys at Allfourx4 also give us the royal treatment and the keys to the place to have a look into what is an amazing outfit, we are also lucky enough to a have a chat to the founder of Allfourx4.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one!

I have watched a mountain of content and that was perfect. what a champion of a CEO . just found your channel great stuff
Thanks for tuning in bud.
What an awesome company and such a great old guy with his stories❤
Thanks Mark.
Its on Superior Engineerings website saying you can now get a GVM/GCM upgrade done and engineered in Qld using the Lovells kit
Yeah nice.
What A awesome ep and sweet improvements to your 4wd guys.
Thanks Craig. The chat with owner was bloody good.
Yes he was a lovely old fellow hey. @@smarttouringsystems-garage
I just finished watching your vid so it answered my question
cheers for watching bud.
Hey mate great information, do you need engineering for the new differential you put in if so who did it ?
Cheers
Hi Adam
Awesome build mate. I have a question why you didn’t go with a coil conversion?
For what we do, it just isn’t good value for us.
Just purchased a new ford Wildtrak where the ford dealer offer an upgrade pre rego and is covered under ford’s warranty. Ford are in bed with ARB and use Old Man Emu.
Yeah that's a good way to do it, at least its on Ford then.
Gday mate. Another great vid. Can I ask what that was all worth and how the unladen vs laden ride is compared to stock?
I’m thinkin about the 4200 kg Jmacx coil conversion but it’s $45 k
Cheers in advance and it’s lookin sick
Thanks for watching mate. The lovells kit is around $5500 installed with engineering. The ride was terrible with the temp tray in that ep. Rides perfect at around 3 ish tonne and above. This is the second time I’ve run this setup and can’t go past it for value. The jmax would would flex better, but we use it as a tourer. If I could change something it would be to chassis extend it. Only needs like 200mm.
Genuine question : when you get your upgrade and particularly the rear diff what happens to the rear wheel bearings. Do they use a more heavy duty wheel bearing or is the Toyota bearings still within spec. I have always wondered how they manage this part of the upgrade. Maybe every couple of years it will be a part of general maintenance to change them out if you are really working the upgrade. Another great episode thanks matey.
Yeah mate. We used the same wheel bearings and to be honest didn’t even give it a thought. We were just as heavy in the last ute and never had any dramas. This style of Bering requires servicing every 20000 I have found.
@@smarttouringsystems-garage Thanks, I suppose your setup is going to within and under the range of the wheel bearing specs as you won't be pushing your car to the load limit looking at how you use it. I have seen some wheel bearing failures on some 70 series before and while their cars were heavy we must take into account things like water crossings and mud that would have contributed to those failures. I think like you have suggested a change out of the bearings now and then is the way to go. Thanks for you reply.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
Can’t believe it, I was talking to a guy selling a 200 series in Queensland with lots of great quality upgrades like the suspension and more and asked him this same question can it be registered in nsw with the upgrades he had done or do I need to have it re-engineered. He had no answer.
Yeah mate, it would have to be re-engineered.
Cheers such a timely video for me, its not a deal breaker but it straight away adds anything up to 5K on my end to get it transferred and roadworthy. I’ve been thinking how many people are driving around thinking everything’s good there covered with there insurance and really there not and will only find out if and when something goes wrong unfortunately.
Better of doing GVM upgrades Pre rego.
If it’s to much for your dealer to sort out.
Go to another dealer.
It’s your money , don’t be told what to do by car sales people.
Yes there are benefits pre-rego agreed.
Hi Adam, got another question like the other day mate haha. So with the Toyota tray in this video will the -12 offset rim go up inside the rail on the tray at full flex or would it hit the rail mate. Just trying to make sure the neg 12’s will fit before I spend 5k on 33’s and the assaults like you have. I remember you said the front has a few millimetres of poke but that should be fine. Thanks in advance 👍
Are you doing a track correction rear housing ?
@@smarttouringsystems-garage mdt trutracker 3780kg gvm upgrade
Track corrected 👍
@@ARCHIES_79_LC mate I won’t say that they would clear for sure as I don’t want to give you a bum steer. Also try the wheel deal for a price on the wheels and tires. Use smarttouringsystems as a discount code
What is rating is on your engineers cert after doing the gvm upgrade? As far as I’m aware lovells don’t have a gvm using the dwizz housing as part of there ssm.
I'm waiting on the cert. to come in the mail. To see exactly what it says, but it was engineered as a seperate part to my knowledge, without the rear housing upgrade the rear axle load is 2400, the dwiz takes this 3000 so even with the gvm upgrade your rear axle load would exceed 2400 I waould say.
I have done track corrections on 79’s with ome lovells gvm’s etc in Vic. Our Vass engineers wont sign off on axle load but will for the track correction. . I’m very interested to see what your engineer has done for you in nsw. Can you please let me know.
What about post-rego in different Australian States. GCM certainly isnt an option here in WA post rego no matter what suspension used.
I know other states are different - and that adds to the confusion, and interstate sales it becomes null and void.
Its stupid given its the same car in the same country...... maybe one day!
Agreed. Crazy really that something like this can't be Aussie wide. I know GCM is not available in Queensland either.
What sort of lift did you get with this upgrade?
Hi and thanks for watching, its around the 2inch mark.
You answered nothing, just one long sales pitch.
Ive heard engineers say point blank you cannot increase gcm in nsw.
Thanks for watching & taking the time to comment.
Yeah. What state? Which lift height? Diff need engineering?
