@@johnmaynes7142 I can see why. Uzumaki clan is remembered for their seal and techniques that follow swirl patterns. But I didn't guess Naruto because the spiral focus was small compared to Gurren Lagann.
Wow you really pulled out all the stops! I was feeling super confident I would win until I saw how intricate your bento is chef! I still have much to learn! Ganbarimasho!
you know what i like most about you? you are just a guy thats one of us that happens to have amazing cooking skills all those references to anime, other youtubers and internet culture in general, it just makes you so likeable with all that combined! feels like hanging out with one of the boys best of luck in the upcoming battles!
The thing I love about these videos is that you can really see chef pk's experience, you can really see how this dude changes so much spontaneously and still makes it as good as or even better than what he planned.
Chef Paul when he cooks reminds me of Josh with his chaotic energy. Makes me laugh when he talks to himself, though lol. All his stuff looks really good.
The constantly ticking down timer made this so intense. You also did a really nice job editing the video, chef! It's approaching your level of delicious cooking
My man Champ's bento was way more appealing visually, but the non-traditional style of Paul's lunch was more appealing in terms of flavor profile for me. That meat dish is a favorite of mine. I generally make something similar and I attest to it being phenomenal.
15:37 omg you have your wife as wallpaper on your phone that's precious. love this series so much, keep doing shokugekis. seeing you rushing with adrenaline trying your hardest is super fun. and i love the anime edits too but just a suggestion; for example, the part with eren's mom, or uzui, i think it's better to only add the sounds without showing where it's from, (same as you did with the water breathing technique) because most people already recognize the scene / voice from the audio, and if they don't, they probably won't recognize the anime anyway so showing the scene wouldn't add much for them. but that's just my two cents. i love everything you make no matter how you do it. keep up the good work!
As soon as you said spiral I knew it was going to be Gurren Lagaan. I recently started a rewatch of it to introduce my child, so it's fresh in my head. Honestly though, the entree should have been pork with some little nori sunglasses, but that would have been a little too obvious of a character reference.
I want to try making something like that beef and rice spiral, but with slices of a fried hamburger patty, plenty of thickened gravy and a lingonberry jam spiral for sweet acidity. It would be like Swedish meatballs - bento ninja edition. Maybe using green beans for the bottom layer, too, just to soak up any delicious gravy that seeps through everything else. Thanks for the inspiration, ChefPK!
I love the fact that I found you through Champs kitchen, despite this essentially being you giving him a ton of exposure. I can't wait until Aaron and Claire end up here lol
Great video as always, just wish that alarm sound wouldn't have gone off so much, I was watching this at work and multitasking and it startled me every time. (good thing I'm doing night audit all this week at my hotel so no one can see me jump... and so that I can watch videos while working) btw, got your cook books in the mail a couple days ago, I'm supposed to move June 1st (assuming nothing else goes wrong) so first thing I plan on doing once I have a functional kitchen again is make some of those recipes to celebrate. and then probably every monday, (which is my 1 day off of work) I'll probably make 1 new recipe from the book until I've been able to taste first hand which are my favorites and tweak them to my taste. (as well as start going through all the videos I've bookmarked)
Since everyone is going for Guren Lagan (I mean ... obviously ... but still) I'll just throw "Uzumaki" in the mix ... this Yunji Ito (sp?) manga will only be broadcasted soonish but it technically IS an anime (and a disturbing one I'd wager given the source content).
The spiral theme is from the anime (movie) “Bubble” isn’t it ChefPK? They talk multiple times about spirals. Uta x Hibiki best couple. *okay now I’m gonna go back and bask my eyes out watching it again*.
The Masterchef Breathing killed me XD Honestly, it could be a thing. You do need control as a chef. Put out a training guide of cooking techniques using anime martial arts as the flavour XD
First thing I thought of when you said Spiral: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Probably not what the spiral theme was referring to, but it's what I thought
4:00 Small editing mistake I think? Shouldn't it be 79:00? Now thinking about it I kinda wonder how it would have looked like if people actually didnt finish their dish in time during a shokugeki. Given how high stakes some shokugeki were I wouldn't be surprised if some students self-destructed during the process. I think it would have been sth interesting to show but who really knows
Obviously I'm biased here considering I'm only subbed to one of the channels, but for my money at least I'd prefer your bento. I think Champ's bento was prettier, but I'm not a big presentation guy. I care way more about what I think I'd actually prefer to eat, and on top of your bento having more overall food, the beef/rice main course just looks like something I'd love to stuff into my face more than anything Champ made(although ofc I'd happily eat both).
Is the spiral theme from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann?
Periodically in the series, they mention spiral energy and drills.
Who the hell does he think we are!
That’s a good guess. I guessed Naruto off the top of my head.
that was my guess, yea

hi can you link where you got that bento box :D
Gurren Laggan is a great theme to base a challenge on.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is where your theme came from. Row Row Fight The Power!
Now THIS is a shokugeki theme that I'm familiar with.
you know what i like most about you? you are just a guy thats one of us that happens to have amazing cooking skills
all those references to anime, other youtubers and internet culture in general, it just makes you so likeable with all that combined! feels like hanging out with one of the boys

I'm just a fellow Weeb with some cooking experience :)
Can you challenge Jun from Jun’s Kitchen ( or Rachel and Jun) next? Good excuse to have both of you be distracted by your cats while filming 😂
I would LOVE to work with Jun!
That's crazy, wasn't expecting a collab this soon after I found Chef Champ's channel.
The thing I love about these videos is that you can really see chef pk's experience, you can really see how this dude changes so much spontaneously and still makes it as good as or even better than what he planned.
Chef PK, Champ's style is like a meditating Buddhist monk and yours is like a southern baptist preacher. Your dishes looked really good!
The organized Chaos is one of reasons I love this channel! Amazing job Chef! P.S. The Anime Edits were A+, the Eeren Yager one got me!
Am I the only one who thought Junji Ito when Paul said "spiral"?
The second thing that came to mind was Naruto, but it's not.
Chef Paul when he cooks reminds me of Josh with his chaotic energy. Makes me laugh when he talks to himself, though lol. All his stuff looks really good.
It's that line cook life
The constantly ticking down timer made this so intense. You also did a really nice job editing the video, chef! It's approaching your level of delicious cooking
The amount of times you’ve said spiral makes me think it’s Uzumaki lol

I disagree with the editing sentiment, but I feel you make a reasonable argument.
4:00
CHEFPK: We are eleven minutes in
*Clock shows 89:00*
Me: Wait, doesn't that mean only one minute has passed..?
I really hope this takes off, fun series so far!

Yours is the Bento that will pierce the Heavens! That's the way team Dia Gurren rolls!
Needed a cut in of Anya Forger saying "I like peanuts" when you were making the dessert.
Uncle Roger would say: Fuiyoh!!!! He washed the Rice?! anime-chef washed his rice! Always wash your rice nephew and nieces !
11:04 I simply wasn’t prepared to be traumatized
Neither was I
Awesome! Also wanted to say your diet and workouts have really been working for you. You look amazing! So happy for you!
The spiral theme is from tengen toppa Gurren Lagann one of my favorite anime of all time
My man really just held that egg right out a hot pan like it was a napkin
Is the spiral theme from Gurren Lagann? One of my faves
I want to try making something like that beef and rice spiral, but with slices of a fried hamburger patty, plenty of thickened gravy and a lingonberry jam spiral for sweet acidity. Thanks for the inspiration, ChefPK!
Spiral theme really has me believing in the Chefpk that believes in me.
The spiral theme from Ratatouille obviously*!!! 🐭❤️
*I hope.
I'm feeling the spiral theme is either Gurren Lagann, Tobi from Naruto, or Uzumaki (Junji Ito)
I love this series the most!
I think it was already said but "Uzumaki" by Junji Ito was my immediate thought, though it's only a manga.
I love the fact that I found you through Champs kitchen, despite this essentially being you giving him a ton of exposure. I can't wait until Aaron and Claire end up here lol
I want more of this!
Ahh. The infamous bento box from the Yukihira bento you made. The first video I’ve ever watched from you.
I needed a reason to use it again!
Great video as always, just wish that alarm sound wouldn't have gone off so much, I was watching this at work and multitasking and it startled me every time. (good thing I'm doing night audit all this week at my hotel so no one can see me jump... and so that I can watch videos while working)

Bento 🍱 battle?
Yess
Loving this! I'm guessing if you hadn't explained everything, you would have done it much faster?
“That feels so good”
- ChefPK 2022
Also ChefPK in the same video:
"Get it nice and tight"
"You see that jiggle?"
"Just enough to make it wet"
@@Harmonia96 You’re right on that one
Oh hey a Bento with a Junji Ito's Uzumaki theme!
Hell yeah Paul. I love Champ, how awesome for you two to have a food war!
Champ wins on authenticity and presentation. GHEFPK wins on creativity and improvisation
In the process of clipping since you asked so nicely.
Hmmm it wouldn't be Gurren Lagann by chance? Awesome job Chef!
The alarm gets me to jump every time lol
As a young cook who loves food and anime his channel is perfect for me 😁
i like it that you have so good ideas for these food wars
The spiral theme chef Pk used is from the ultimate geometry based anime, Rolie Polie Olie
Uncle Roger with the Jojo musical sting is everything I didn't know I needed.
"i see, i see... pk used feeling, nice, nice. already better than jamie oliver!" that uncle roger feeling xD
The spiral theme is from the anime (movie) “Bubble” isn’t it ChefPK? They talk multiple times about spirals. Uta x Hibiki best couple. *okay now I’m gonna go back and bask my eyes out watching it again*.
I haven't seen Bubble yet but now I need to and I have to be ready to cry?!
the way you called out onigiri like that tells me you are a man of culture lol
When you said theme of spiral, I assumed you were speaking of the horror movie.
We piercing the heavens today? Nice. I've been wanting to make those nikumaki, maybe tomorrow.
The Masterchef Breathing killed me XD Honestly, it could be a thing. You do need control as a chef. Put out a training guide of cooking techniques using anime martial arts as the flavour XD
Funny video, a little bit chaotic, but this guy do a great job
You said spiral, my brain responded with ROW ROW FIHT THE POWAH!
THIS IS WAY
The spiral is a refference to me and how my life is spiraling out of control.
First thing I thought of when you said Spiral: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Probably not what the spiral theme was referring to, but it's what I thought
I was right?!
The alarm clock sound effects from the timer are giving me PTSD from being jolted awake by mine when I was in school.
Ha noted, I will make sure to remove it.
The dessert is...
Silken tofu with a brown sugar caramel syrup...
SUNNOVA- THAT'S JUST TAHO!
*Swagapino intensifies*
And real talk, I've never heard of Taho before!
This needs some overexcited battle MC in a flamboyant suit
Yooo now this is a meal man! holy!! if I took this to work i'd share it with everyone! so good
Spiral from Gurren Lagann? You know, the whole war between Spirals and Anti-Spirals...
it's good that the theme is NOT Junji Ito's "Uzumaki", would probably haven been a very different bento.
Funny enough, for me it's direct comparison with bento battle in Souma, Chef Ryosuke made a great dish, but yours was better as a bento.
An idea for a video, the fish risotto Yukihira used against Spices boy y Angri boy, that may be cool
this was entertaining! but chef champ's obviously more delicious.
Believe in the me that believes in you! Be the chef that will pierce the culture barrier!
This is Tengen toppa! This, is Gurren lagan!
You drill is the drill that will pierce the heaven's!
Either that or Junji ito
4:00 Small editing mistake I think? Shouldn't it be 79:00?
Now thinking about it I kinda wonder how it would have looked like if people actually didnt finish their dish in time during a shokugeki.

I think it would have been sth interesting to show but who really knows
Just imagine using those pearls from yukihira bento in this battle
Had I seen this when it was published I'd have said the spiral theme would have been from Uzumaki... lol
After watching both Videos I think Champ won this battle. That being said, It all looks absolutely Delicious!
Gurren Lagann's the only thing that comes to mind when you say Spiral
One thing that I really liked was shredded carrots in omelette.
Theme is Sanji’s eyebrows from one piece
I'm really feeling this lunch box, kimchi AND steak and rice?
Maximum Uzumaki?
Noooooooo not the spiral energy anime that traumatized me
My mouth is watering after watching this I really wish I could eat it especially the mean and rise with that tofu
Spiral is from Gurren Laggan.
CALLING IT
i think its shogukei theme and the spiral part is from the yule log... i dunno lol
I thought you were talking about Uzumaki and I got creeped out by all the spirals
I will say right now, i have not watched the whole video but spirals mean gurren lagann to me. Will this bento pierce the heavens?
is the theme from bubble? Love your vids btw
Chef Paul, don't believe in yourself. Believe in the me that believes in you.
So close. if only you had finished 2 seconds sooner, it would have been epic!
I like champ's dishes and box Slightly more, but this one has him beat on presentation I've got to say, and that's despite a little bit of bias
This is the bento that will pierce the heavens!
Beat the anti-spirals with your spiral power Chef. Believe in the me that believes in you.
LEZGOOO BENTOOO! one of my fav thing to make

Spiral theme is from Junji Ito’s Uzumaki.
I was guessing the spiral theme was from Junji Ito.
Clearly the theme spiral is from the manga Uzumaki by Junji Ito.
While I know the spiral is Gurren Lagann, I couldn't help but think of Junji Ito's Uzumaki
Those hot house cucumbers come with the thickest rubbers…uh…wrappers ever
Spiral: the bonds of reasoning is an anime. But, I think you may be hinting at gurren lagann
