Deleted video of Emmy Rossum screen test singing "Think of Me" for "Phantom of the Opera" 2004 movie adaptation. I think she is amazing considering she was only 16 at the time!
She didn't have the strong saprano that the usual stage christine has. But thats okay, because this was film and not stage. I hate it when people compare the two. She was so beautiful and likeable and relatable in this role. Her face delicately conveyed every emotion that she was meant to be feeling beautifully. and her voice, while not large is still beautiful and sweet. I just love her.
Yes plus she was like 16, the other actresses are normally 25 or something, once I saw someone comparing her with Sierra, and it's clear that Sierra is an amazing singer but she was like 29 when she played the 25th anniversary and her profession was musical theater while Emmy was a teenager and was in cinema

Compare the two what?? She is 16 and everyone who played this character was 35. Anyone can be a great anything at the age of 35.

@@maggieaishalee3829 I don’t know what age has to do with this. Age doesn’t equal skill level. Emmy was perfect for the role WHEN SHE WAS CAST. And that’s apparent because she was cast. I don’t understand how I made this post talking about the difference of singing for screen vs. stage. And it still turned into a skill conversation.
She shoulda been Belle in Disney Beauty and the Beast live action

She was super nervous. It's also astonishing how much she grew as a singer during the process.
The character is supposed to be nervous anyway at the beginning.
Even at that young age, Emmy had such an incredible screen presence! Supposedly, Andrew Lloyd Webber walked in for her vocal audition, and was quite brusque....and after Emmy sang for him, he smiled, and introduced himself as "Andy". Guess she stunned him, too!
He knew without a doubt in his mind, as soon as she finished the song, that she was likely the one.
People love to forget she was only 16 and this was for film. The stage performers are usually in their 30s and they are supposed to have a stronger style of singing for the stage. I can't stand when people hate on her because they're comparing her to the stage Christine. I love the stage version too, but you can't compare. This movie is very different from the stage in many ways. Her voice and acting was incredible for the film and will always be iconic. Recognize that film and stage are different

She was such a young terrified little thing! This clip is a treasure because it shows the change from that, to her current confident adult self now a days. I love it!

Opino igual. Las artistas de teatro tienen una voz mucho más fuerte y aunque son excelentes, no transmiten esa dulzura e ingenuidad que Christine se supone que tiene.

I think she was just nervous, like I sing a lot too and when I'm nervous, I can't breath so well, so the notes get shorter and more shakey and I feel like thats kinda what happend here too, at least it seems that way to me

Am I crazy in saying that I love how she sounds here more than in the actual film? Has this been altered at all?
It sounds like it’s been edited up a half step which makes her voice sound higher. This ends on a B natural and the original key/key in the movie ends on a B flat. On Broadway they eventually moved it to a C but I’ve never heard this key used before. The key change and the voice quality difference makes it seem pitched up.

@@animationflow1055 Do you have a source? This video sounds pitched to avoid copyright, and when you edit it down so the song is in the right key she sounds like she did in the movie.
I still appreciate her as christine since she should be someone that's not fully professional singer in the story but starting to be a prima donna

Emmy is actually my favorite Christine. I can tell she sounded nervous in the screen test and was a little shakey. Her voice was much better in the actual movie. Remember Sarah brightman was in her 30s during phantom Emmy was only 17 here!
All I see is who Belle should have been in Disney’s live action. 😭😭 Emma Watson was great in Harry Potter but definitely not Disney’s Belle. 😥

Her voice wasn't strong enough for the songs but it didn't matter because Butler was so much worse, the film was a campy disaster and so badly directed, and the whole thing a flop

i dont get it their voices sound so good sure theyre not professional ive seen the actual play and it was obviously better but the movie and the songs are GREAT especially since gerard butler wasnt even familiar with singing he tired his best and he did well , i guess i can see why you wouldnt like his voice , i do , but Emmy did incredibly well and as for the movie. id like to hear some of your reasonings as to why its so bad , sure has its flaws , but i enjoyed it a LOT thats why i also watched the play too.

I wish I can sing those very high notes so clearly like her but I can’t hit those high notes flawlessly like her cause I’m a regular soprano not those sopranos who can hit those impossible high notes like Emmy. I’m certainly no Whitney Houten or Celine Dion but I do have a very good yet decent singing voice. I can sing very well but I’m definitely NOT a professional opera singer. But that’s just me being humble and honest.
