That shaft from eBay is awesome and you should put it back on. There is zero flex or sound when you use it. It is very tight tolerances so it will be tight getting a wheel on or off but when it is on the rig it will be much easier. You absolutely do not need the bolt with this one. The stock one will still make noise even with the bolt. Also, the more you put on and remove the wheels the easier it will become.
Money-reasons were the same for me in buying a second hand CSL DD GT Pro kit though mine was not broken, just second hand. I knew I would have to modify several parts for the project it was to be put in, and I would not feel comfortable modifying completely new kit, next to being unable to afford that. I personally very much like people repairing stuff. It gives you such a good feeling when you manage to fix something. Currently trying to fix my first SSFF computer (Lenovo M720q Tiny motherboard that just suddenly died on me from 1 day to the other).
When i ordered my wheel base during black friday, i added the qr2 adapter with the QR2 lite. I first installed the qr1 metal, had zero play no clunk, perfect fit. Swap to the qr2, huge flex and rattle. I was kinda speechless.
I have the same aftermarket QR. It is all the way on. The hub is bottomed out inside the wheel and locked in properly. You will find zero flex with this hub and my 2 year old hub works flawlessly. Expect a snug fit.
Nice score! However, all non "hub" wheels will work fine, (in my case, RS Wheel, Formula v2.5, McLaren V2, and Podium F1 2.0) the issue is with the Podium hub and in my case with podium and universal hub v2 as well. Fanatec fixed mine, and it took a week from sending it in to until i got it back again.
i also bought a dd1 that was 'broken at first it felt perfect but then it had problems. It went full torque to the right for no reason then was out of Range. Then had no resistsnce at all even at 100%ff then the fan apparently blows 100% right from start up
It not a driver issue ...what you need to do is actually test your dd2 with the podium hub, how much did you pay? Its strange he wouldn't send it back because this is a problem a few people have had with the podium hub and dd1/dd2 bases .
is that an ASR3? i got the same rig.. and got a DD1 last month.. i have mine set up like a passenger car also... i dunno why i never thought to lower the rail to mount the shifter... had the opposite issue out of the box, the universal didnt mount so it was an RMA replacement... lol.... enjoy!
Ouch, RMAs are never fun. And its actually the ASR4! I liked the way the uprights join to the bottom profiles on 4 better. The ASR3 is probably plenty strong but I just couldn't get peace of mind about it. Either way, driving on a solid rig is such a blast! Hope the RMA is dealt with fast!
@@ReadySetProjects yeah the RMA only took a week so it was pretty painless... but def a few people had that issue, especially with the podium hub... ok i see the difference between the asr3 and 4.. i actually installed a t bracket on the upright joint to get me some piece of mind too...lol
I'd be interested to know the techincal reasons behind that then. What would they do when you send it back to fanatec to fix? Firmware updates can happen without sending it in if they're all running code still. The wireless communications board in the hub can supply enough power to run wheels with more things that the podium hub. So that's not the issue. Just a curious issue to need to send it in to fix. Wish I had a podium hub to investigate myself.

I won't be updating to QR2. My son has a QR2 and our hub is actually stiffer.

Freaking AWESOME :) good job

Now you should put the QR2 on its on sale black Friday
The black friday QR2 price is honestly insane. Lol but I hear ya!

Absolute deals!
how much did you pay for it? I'm trying to price my broken dd1. great buy!
do you have any idea whats wrong with it? :)
@@noxious5299 it fell on its shaft. Similar to boosted media’s dd2 situation.
There is a known issue with the podium hub. So you are lucky as long you do not use a Podium Hub
