Hi Jordan! I am from Baghdad/Iraq and I would like to tell you that Sunni and Shiites live together in Iraq peacefully, some of our families contain a Sunni mother and a Shiite father or vice versa. Some of my best, lifelong friends are Christians and I walked by a church the last month and saw a priest saying goodbye to a smiling family leaving the church. Rest assured that the majority of Muslim people are peaceful and loving, but the actions of some bigoted minority sometimes, unfortunately, leave a stronger impression.

Suni's do not hate shia's, islam does not hate jews or christians. I am a tall, blonde northern European and as a young man have spent long periods of time - many months - hiking through predominantly Muslim countries - Morocco, Mauritania, Egypt, etc.
I have only received the most exceptional hospitality and generosity and kindness everywhere I went - even from the most poor mountain people, herders and farmers and fishermen. They invited me to sleep in their house with their family and shared meals with me and invariantly refused any money when I offered. Not once did anybody ask me about my religion or politics or try to convert me to anything.
I spoke good French and learned passable Arabic.
From my personal experience, they do not "hate Christians" or "others" and Sunnis and Shias do not hate each other.
As a matter of fact, being Catholic, I have received more vitriol from radical literalist Protestants about my "wrong religion" than from any Muslims.
On a grander political stage, the ongoing drama of two million innocent people locked up and humiliated and regularly bombed in Gaza is a stain on all humanity and predominantly Muslim countries have been ravaged by a so-called "War on Terror" kicked off by a very questionable 9/11.
So, yeah, the Muslim world has a reason to ask questions and be contentious and seek to preserve their virtue against an increasingly materialistic, heartless, aggressive world.
And locking up a million Uyghur in Xinjiang for "re-education" is not very nice.
That's not to say that there isn't rivalry and power struggles inside the Muslim world as there is in any other part of the world.
I have enjoyed Jordan's videos and learned new, fruitful perspectives but all in all, I think he hit the wrong tone here. There is much more context and complexity, subtlety and nuance, beauty and grandeur, than can be expressed in a six minute rant. Though I do agree with him that the Marxist/ postmodern/ "woke" ideology is humanity's greatest danger.

I am a Muslim and I never hated people of any other faith. While I respect and even learn from different religions, I love Islam and Allah above all I love your videos @Jordan B. Peterson. You always amaze me by articulating the many ideas and beliefs that I had at different times of my life. It is like you are vocalizing what I have in my mind.

Started reading the Quran recently, it is blowing my mind with timeless articulate inspiration on every page so far. If a book is inspiring almost 2 billion people over 1000 years since it was first written, it would be arrogant to assume that oneself is somehow beyond its relevance before even reading, as I was arrogant during my atheistic past of assuming that I could figure everything out based on my own limited intuition.

Nothing is as bad as the media claims, but there still are issues in the areas. Not everywhere, and not all Muslims, but he touched on issues that have been going on for hundreds of years. But really, all I got from the entire message was that we need to communicate and learn to love each other. If all you can get out of his message is criticism then maybe you're focusing on the wrong things.

Like not I am bullied or stuff, but being critized or thought to be weird by my not being promiscuous and waiting for marriage to have sex, and felt lonely of not being understood, this massage, just hit right into the heart. The Japanese, really does respectful and they actually respect religious rules of others, but still, they subtly or explicitly blame religion for group conflicts, and advertising atheism as the right way to be individualistic. Me here just to be not understood can came with huge sadness sometimes. But your message, searching for satan inside yourself, being the light and being the example by your actions, was what I had as a stance for like 15 years(I am 31) as a stance of life. You should show what you are and strive for good, and be good example, so people will admire your thoughts. I could not even think whether there is more wonderful service to your religion and your society, given you believe truthfully to your religion and consider it to be righteous.But, it is not that my/your religion just have the good people. We should compete for goodness both inside our religions, and across religions, so we can just be an example to "Nah, not all of them are bad / useless / satanistic / terrorist. I know a brilliant/kind guy from that religion", and it would be huge. That was what I have always thought, do my best to follow rules of religion, try to understand why they are there(so I would not be blinded or ignorant), and apply them to my life as much as I can (or at least strive for it). And I thought that everyone must have the equality of opportunity, after then (whether religious or ideological) the truly good beliefs will shine through. And I thought we must give it to all that opportunity, and so people would strive and lift up themselves, and would make their society better. And I am working toward that goal in work, not that it gone a long way yet though, trying to make education better and cheaper, while being with truly different ideologies in the company, the mission of better and cheaper for everyone is the same
Still, I was lonely of not being understood on some part, especially on theological front that my religion being center of my life rather than it being some "(minor) tradition", so, your beautiful words, and they are directed to Muslims, I just thought I wouldn't cry, but it made me cry (even I had tears writing this). Just there is someone, at the other side of globe, whom I respect, believing (or acting accordingly to) another religion saying the almost same thing, just got me in the heart. Thank you Peterson. PS. I have took your personality tests and occasionally watched your lectures in 2019, more intensely this year, and had many agreements. I am not taken your self-authoring course (yet?), but I am also trying to write my fears / shortcomings of now and past, and long/medium/short term future goals and analyze them to get my shit together, which the concept of your course inspired me to do. I am somehow autistic ( not diagnosed but less like ADHD and more like asperger maybe?) and still got over its shortcomings, I can relate to your ideas on the wokeness front as well, similar to the religious/ideology front, I think people should get their shit together if they can (instead of self-victimazing) to represent their group better while keeping individuality. And society should focus on those who cannot do that because of poverty/(real) disability.

A prophet does not give false requirements for heaven. Jesus and Muhammad contradicted each other on that. They can not both were prophets.
Thank you Dr Peterson for this message. I would also add that the Muslim world needs to work harder on strengthening itself in every dimension to avoid being oppressed or used by other nations and to have a leading role in making life on earth better for everyone.

I go so far to say that all religious people are mentally if not oppressed at least they are shackled in the specific mental framework of the religion and can't think out of that box. Many Muslim women are oppressed by their husbands and by their society to the point where they are beaten every day to the point where they are willing to go to the streets in Iran and protest risking being killed. And many are brutally killed by Sharia Law.

I’m a Christian, at one time I often traveled to Turkey where my company had offices. I talked with my Muslim co-workers about faith. I realized that the wedge between us is fake. Various leaders weaponize religion for their own gains. We have more in common than we think. Islam and Christianity are fundamentally incompatible. Islam denies, not only the divinity of Christ, but also the crucifixion. Christianity holds that there are no prophets that follow after Christ and thusly, Muhammad must be a false prophet. Being a Muslim from India, we have never seen anyone fighting in between shias and sunis yes offcourse there are differences, but the only way to live in peace and harmony is with care and love and share the bond of the brotherhood amongst the children of God. The only religion is the one which teaches and helps you understand others and care for them no matter where you come from. Love is the way. Love is the answer.
Most people have heard “Jesus/God loves you”. Does that mean they have a relationship with God and will go to heaven? Depends on the individual. A relationship is 2 sided, you receive love and you give love back. God showed His love by suffering, dying on the cross and rising from the dead for you, now you show Love back by repenting of your sins (lying,, stealing, sexual sins, taking the Lord’s Name in vain etc) and believing in Jesus as your Lord and saviour so that Heaven is in your future not hell

Hell is worse than what you think (I was shaking after that experience), and Heaven is better than what you think. I have also received a personal healing miracle, I can go into details if you want. This is how God works. If you give Him the benefit of the doubt, He gives you more and more. Would I spend even 2 minutes preaching if I had an ounce of doubt? (I’ve experienced way too much)

I want to agree with you to be “fair” as my modern western indoctrination tells me that fairness is the pinnacle but I can’t. When was the last time Christians stormed a village and beheaded and raped non believers?500 years ago? 300? A long time so long you can’t recall off the top of your mind. I have been listening to Jordon Peterson to almost two years now and as a Muslim listening to this, I couldn't agree more. This self constructed enmity between Shias and Sunnis is in fact the cause of all problems for Muslims, and the refusal to communicate their issues through is making it a lot worse. My customer was more than happy to tell me about it and explain it. She then asked me about Easter and Christians. We both walked away with New found knowledge about each others beliefs.

After watching this video and reading the comments I can’t help but feel a little patronised if I’m honest. While the intention of this message may have been innocent and in good faith, It plays into this false narrative that all Muslims have a percentage of hate towards Christian’s and Jews. There is no hate amongst the majority of Muslims and other faiths. Our hate internally is towards the sin and not the sinner with our common enemy being Satan/Shaitaan. Our differences are very few but what Muslims feel is sinful, they will try their best to avoid and to partake in. I live in the UAE a country which follows Sharia law, it has one of the lowest crime rates in the world and there is peaceful coexistence between many faiths.
This message of tolerance and peaceful coexistence is in the teachings of this beautiful religion for 1400+ years but what Islam also teaches us is to have a little backbone and stick to our values and beliefs. Tolerance doesn’t mean you give up your values and traditions to take part in what others do. Tolerance is to accept that others are different and the whole world can take something from this message. As for the Sunni/Shia comments this is down to political/regional understandings of the religion the same way there are many branches of Christianity who don’t agree with one another’s interpretations. The message is one amongst all Muslims and Allah will judge us on how we have understood and followed that message.
Also baffled by the number of Muslims in the comments section who seem to crave validation from a prominent speaker and say they agree with “everything” but then disagree with certain points. We don’t need Dr JP’s validation or validation from anyone else. That’s the beauty of our religion we are not slaves to the “norms” of society. We answer to a higher power than man. The laws we follow internally encompass everything we will face in our lives and push us to be kind to others and be held accountable for every single one of our actions. We fight these issues alone and/or within our own Muslim communities. In addition, no....there are issues between Sunnis and Shiates for SURE...rooted in history and differences in the faith itself. About the Sunni and Shiia (don't know the word for it), well, I live in Afghanistan, a country in which both Sunnis and Shiias live without conflict whatsoever. And about our relationship with Christians and Jewish people, well, we respect you all (you are the people of the book), but that minority of Muslims who don't see it that way, it is their problem. No Muslim advocate for war etc. (except the Al-qaeda- types, which we don't see them as Muslims) We follow what our beloved Prophet (PBUH) and our Holy book say, that is:

Most people have heard “Jesus/God loves you”. Does that mean they have a relationship with God and will go to heaven? Depends on the individual. A relationship is 2 sided, you receive love and you give love back. My 3 issues with this video:
1-This message could easily apply to Jews and Christians aswell,did Jordan ever make a message directed to Jews or Christians telling them to stop seeing Muslims as enemies?I don't think so.
2-There is anti-Jewish sentiment in the Muslim community,but the majority of Muslims don't even see Christians as their enemies,so I don't see why Jordan was speaking as if there was a significant anti-Christian sentiment in the Muslim community.
3-As for the Jewish point:imagine if a man made a UA-cam video in 2022 encouraging Ukrainians to seek peace with Russians as if it's a simple task,the response to said video would be outrageous since it would be ignoring the complexity of the situation between Russians and Ukrainians and ignoring that there's a war between them. The same could be said to Jordan encouraging Muslims to stop vilifying Jews. Firstly,Muslims have trouble with Israel and Zionism more than they do have trouble with Jews and Judaism as a religion. Secondly,like my Ukrainian example,the issue of "Jews and Muslims" is very complex and there's a war going on in Palestine,so telling muslims to seek peace with the "Jews" or Israelis in such a situation would be ignoring the complexity of the situation and treating it as if it's some playground squabble that could be solved simply and easily. My daughter, a Junior in a Liberal Arts College, befriended a Turkish Muslim foreign exchange student over the last year. They became such good friends that my daughter asked if we, her parents, would allow her friend to stay the week with our family until her flight back to Germany. We Christians never pushed our faith upon this young lady but rather had philosophical discussions about many things, problems in our governments, the uniqueness of our cultures and histories, and the types of schools and curriculums that were different and what was good and bad about each here in the U.S., in Germany, and in Turkey. We enjoyed our discussions so much that I told her (jokingly) that we were going to cause her to miss her flight just so we could keep her around much longer. The most important thing I've learned whenever engaging with people from Nigeria, Turkey, Germany, Mexico, etc is that we have one important thing in common .... a moral compass and God. Our differences are very few and I see no reason for the Jew, Gentile, Muslim, Asian, etc to fight with one another. It appears that it is our governments, or better yet, a global cabal, that needs us to be divided and hating each other to the extent we want to kill. Fortunately, there are very few of us around the world that hate and want to fight, so who is starting these conflicts and wars?? There is divide among Muslims. I’m a Muslim living in a Muslim country and despite the few that really don’t care what sect you are there is still plenty that do. You can still see favoritism in the workplace, a lack of inter-sect marriage, all kinds of discrimination. It’s saddening but very much real. Compare the different sects harmony in Islam with that of Catholics, Baptists and other religions and you get what we’re talking about. Denying a problem doesn’t make it disappear. I think Dr. Peterson came a long way during the past year in regards to his views on Islam and Muslims. You belittling the effort he had put in does not do us any good. His message is coming from a kinder and kind place. It’s quite general, nonetheless, straight to the point and we must not be sidetracked by whatever pointless discrepancies that his understanding may contain.

I live in muslim majority country. Here, you will have to wait literally forever to get permission to build church, some existing churches were taken down, saying Merry Christmas is not allowed (not that we expect them to, but it’s a national debate every december, it’s very stupid), churches are guarded by police every Sunday just for a 2 hours Sunday Service. And there in the constitution said that ‘the law protect every citizen’s freedom of religion). Sometimes, there are bomb threats during Christmas. So, I’m still waiting for the so called peace to humanity. And here, the Sunni majority often consider the shia as something else.

Living in the United States i feel Muslims have been disrespected by a political agenda, specifically after 9/11 . I am Christian, but it was not until i did my own research into the Muslim faith and people did i truly understand and respect what they stood for. Thank you for the kind message. I'm from Spain and, although most of my countrymen don't want to accept it, Muslims left a huge positive influence in our traditions and culture. So did Jews. If you think about it (and if the stories are true), there was a prosperous time in which people of many religions lived peacefully together, which can serve as a model for future societies. (I'm an atheist by the way)
Out of curiosity, what positive influences? I've read a lot about the Muslim conquest of Spain but, like you said about your countrymen, most people do not view the Muslim occupation positively and I don't believe I've ever seen anyone suggest it was positive (not saying you're wrong, just curious.) Also, are you yourself a Muslim, or are you a non-Muslim recognizing positive changes?

I am now studying the Quran. And have to say at my age of 32. I have found that these things in the book i have believed most of my life. I grew up Baptist Christian, and there was something off about worshipping a man, a prophet of Allah. But since I've put my faith in God alone. Interesting that our religion of Islam actually teaches us to manifest our religion in our behaviour, attitude, interactions etc. such that others get attracted to Islam not by explaining or defending but simply by admiring a Muslim.
