Hello everyone, I hope you enjoy watching all my videos of Germany as much as I enjoyed making them. You can watch the other videos I filmed in Germany here: ua-cam.com/play/PL0wwMzq5-Q2jW45Ff8jtMSQEPp7bsaDwp.html
We had one day to visit the Eagles Nest during our trip. We made it as far as the parking lot but it was raining so hard that we decided not to go to the top. Thanks to your video I felt like I was there. Well done.
Another beautiful location around Berchtesgaden. You did a wonderful tour of the site - much more expansive then I had ever imagined. Hard to believe, my being born in Berchtesgaden, that I've not been back since leaving in 53. Thank you for all the different adventures I've shared with you, via video, of Berchtesgaden and surrounding area.
The weather cooperated with me on that day. It usually rains a lot in that region. I had to wait almost 4 days for the weather to clear. It was a wonderful adventure to explore Berchtesgaden and the surrounding towns. Thank you for watching.
I planing to visit Berchtesgaden national park this year in early September. I really enjoyed all and your ability to describe everything, thank you and I’ll keep watching your amazing videos,
Thank you for haring this awesome video. I visited Eagles Nest in 1999 and it was included in the tour but unfortunately it had been snowing and there was little view die to mist and fog. I’m returning to Berchtesgaden in the beginning of August and thank you for your advice about the weather. I had booked a trip online but now thanks to you I will watch the weather and go up there on a sunny day. The views are spectacular and indescribable really unless one sees it for oneself. I love your videos and your commentary. So informative. I wonder if you have been to the site where the Berghof once stood as there are still a few walls left from Hitlers House that was unfortunately destroyed. That’s one place I would love to visit and am going to try and find it.
I am glad you found the video helpful. The good news is that the Obersalzberg bunker is now open to the public. It was closed when I was there. I did not get a chance to visit Berghof. I might visit it next time. It is worth the effort.
Thank you for video. I was there exactly in a May 3 weeks earlier and it was cloudy day. We saw only milk air around us but had a nice time in a restaurant. So now with your video I can see how beautiful this place is. You had a good luck to catch such a good wather. Wish you all the best bro!
I did a group tour with Contiki Travel and in May 1980 a small group of us did an excursion to Hitlers Eagle Nest, plenty of snow around and I don't think it was open to the public back them. Amazing views.
Actually I was undecided whether to visit Eagle’s Nest but after watching your video, I think I’ll go. Thank you so much for your videos. They are great!
I also recommend the Sound of Music Tour from Salzburg. Very close and the tour bus travels through Austria's Lake District too. The Salzburg salt mine tour is good too. Happy Travels.
What great video of the Eagle's Nest on a day when the sky was clear and sunny! I wish only that there was more time spent inside the building with the dining room. After viewing his video I have made a decision to view other videos of yours from Germany.
I have only been watching this video for the 1st 12 mins and this is my favorite video out there with regard to the Eagle’s Nest. Great footage. Hope to go in the near future! Thank you
Hello tremendous video of the Eagles Nest, soon for mid May I have a tour with my husband in that place but I was a little afraid of the height, but I really liked your video, thanks
Nice, I was just watching a documentary about this and was wondering if I could see a video tour on the internet, this sufficed, so thanks for that. Those views were amazing, I think if I were to visit I would pack a bag with food and water and try to hide out somewhere until the night time to check it out.. a midnight liaison at the eagles nest lol, it looks super easy to be able to do that too
Nice video! Can you tell me what the month and date you visited, also what time of day you got to the Eagles Nest bus stop? I'm planning on a visit the 16th and 17th of September this year and I'm hoping it's not too busy. Thank you.
Thank you for the feedback. That visit was in late September but I don’t remember the exact date. I got to the bus stop before 9:30am. Have a nice trip!
Excellent job ! Brilliant !👍 Intelligently planned, interesting comments, clearly understandable English and marvelous pictures over the magic landscape !!😋😋 Thumb up !👍
What an amazing playing place. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit this place last year. My only regret is that I did t have time to hike up the mountain.
Salzburg is far from those sites and you will be wasting almost 4 hours (roundtrip) on transportation. I'd suggest you pick Berchtesgaden town as a base to explore the region. If you do choose to visit Lake Königssee & Obersee as a day trip from Salzburg, then this will be a long rushed day for you. Hitler Eagles Nest alone needs a full day if you are visiting from Salzburg.
Hi, I'm planning to visit Munich & Salzburg early October. May I know if it is nearer to get to Eagles Nest as day trip from Salzburg or Munich? How many hours did you spend at Eagles Nest?
Munich is too far from Eagles Nest and I don't recommend doing a day trip from Munich. From Salzburg, it takes about an hour to get to Berchtesgaden by a direct bus and then switch to another bus (15 minutes) to the documentation center (Eagles Nest bus stop). I spent about 6 hours in total including lunch and the journey from/to Berchtesgaden. It took me more than average because I was filming to produce this video which took more effort and time. There are other day trips that you can do from Munich. I filmed a lot of them. You can check them out here if you are interested: ua-cam.com/play/PL0wwMzq5-Q2jW45Ff8jtMSQEPp7bsaDwp.html
@Wanderer Bell thank you so much for your prompt reply. I am planning for day trips from Munich & Salzburg and found your videos on UA-cam. Do you think Eagles Nest is a must visit place? It's very beautiful from your video and I love the alps scenery. I plan to do 2 day trips from Salzburg & Hallstatt is one of it. Thanks once again and I'll watch all your Munich videos too!
You are welcome. Eagles Nest is worth a visit only if the weather is clear and you have extra time. Hallstatt is so beautiful even if the weather is not clear. You can check out my Hallstatt video here: ua-cam.com/video/nLL9hv_f2DQ/v-deo.html
We had a wonderful day tour beginning and ending in Munich. It was a great and enjoyable day trip all done by tour bus. If I remember correctly it was a long ten to twelve hour trip start to finish. Very pleasant and as stated enjoyable. Went in September and they said luckily one of the best and clearest days of the summer. Yes a Munich round trip visit to the Eagles nest is very feasible. Greetings from Massachusetts U.S.A.
Yes you can take trains - multiple - from Munich but it will be a long day. Take the RE5 to Salzburg from Munich hbf and get down at the second last stop- Freilassing (just before Salzburg) From there, you have only 5 mins to take the next train connection - S4 to Berchtesgaden The S4 will drop you off at Berchtesgaden Hbf from where you can take Bus 841 or 842 to Königssee OR Bus 838 to the Eagle’s Nest bus stop. From there, you can another bus as shown in the video to get all the way up the elevator
Cheers for your video, we visited the kelchstein Haus 20 yrs ago, for my 50 th birthday, but martin bormann didn't present the house to me from the party,. I truly magnificent place, the Americans wanted to distroy it after the war, thinking it may become a shrine to Adolf Hitler and his natzi party, fortunately it was saved for posterity.......
!:27"... the elevator takes you staight to the summit..." That is not so; it brings you to the Restaurant , The Eagles Nest, The Summit is a few minutes walk further upwards. The Road is not rough at all. it's all Tarsealed and has great curves and corners.TEchnocally all cars could go up there but at the dead eand there is only space , just enough for the buses to turn around. Allowing priavte parking up there makes no sence.
The Allies DID try to bomb/destroy the Egales Nest HOWEVER- they chose a cloudy/wintery day snd the bombs flew right over the top of thr mountain and down the opposite side!
Thanks for the videos bro ...Hitlers brought some ideas to build this Nests during ww2 to meet some diplomatic people from around the world..Nice place to visit
Thank you. The engineers did not know that Hitter was suffering from vertigo. They had to come up with alternative ways to make the journey smooth for him. As expected, he did not visit this place a lot because of his fear of heights.
Just a suggestion, when you have a panoramic view, tell your audience what they are looking at. Or at least the direction (Salzburg, Berchtesgaden, the Untersberg, etc.). Don't just keep panning around.
Thank you for the suggestion. I only share information that I know when I walk and film without following a script. I myself did not know the direction of Salzburg, Berchtesgaden, etc at that moment.

Hi, may I know which hotel you stayed at in Berchtesgaden? All the hotels seem so expensive there. Thanks
I will be travelling around Berchtesgaden by bus
You can see the hotel I stayed at in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Nf0lQrKWz_A/v-deo.html
Which month is this video taken? Everyone wearing a jacket, I’m going there 2nd week of September.
This was in October.
Yeah we’re going the last week in September this year as well. Looks like it’s gonna be a little chilly

Which hotel is recommended in this area? How many days?
You need at least 5 full days in this region. You can watch this video to see the hotel: ua-cam.com/video/Nf0lQrKWz_A/v-deo.html
Good thing that the place wasn't loss to the war. It is now a beautiful place for tourist to enjoy.

Is there not a gold elevator
The gold elevator is the one you saw in the video.

Can you walk up to the summit ?
I think you can but I don't recommend it.
this was supposed to be a gift for hitler, as mentioned in band of brothers
Martin Boreman had it built for his boss.
