Hahah when you accidentally put in 20μL instead of 200μL, that took me back to my biomed lab practical days when I did the same thing 😂 I'm not in the field anymore, but this brought back a lot of memories! I still have my lab coat 😊

Crazy how this popped up when I’m a 2 weeks away from my Biochemistry Practical Exam which is stressing me out so much 😭 never thought I’d relax while watching other people in the lab 😗 pls do more of this it makes lab work less intimidating 😮💨

Tbh I have no idea, the more difficult thing would be before plastic there also would have been no plate readers haha. They would have had a completely different way of measuring protein concentration

Once i saw this uploaded, i knew how id be spending my friday evening😂 Whats your hypothesis then? Elderly samples will express less protein? Can these proteins be modulated through stem cell therapy?
Hahaha I love it! Great question! So my hypothesis isn’t that they have less protein generally, just less expression of the protein I’m interested in (p63). Part of my project is then trying to find growth factors or cytokines that could be used to increase p63 expression, so hopefully we’ll be able modulate p63 in the future

How do you like the new camera? It looks amazing, was it easy to learn how to operate and upload videos from it? I’m looking to buy a new camera, especially a small one, but usually smaller cameras loose a lot of clarity but this one looks great!
I love it so far! I’m having so much fun with it and yeah it’s been really easy to learn how to use it and to set it up when I want to film. There’s so many UA-cam tutorials haha. It was also easy to get the footage off and upload it, the only issue was because this was filmed in 4K the file size was huge, so my old laptop definitely struggled with uploading it.
But yeah I’m happy with how it looks so far, it’s quite unique because it’s small but has a 1 inch sensor which is pretty good!

The measuring device you are using, I have no clue about any of this stuff. Why do you have to replace the tip on it every time?
Good question, basically just to stop contamination between samples, because the tip is what gets dipped into the different samples

12:15 I'd guess the DD is de-ionized, distilled. At my job (geologist in environmental consulting) we just call it DI water but maybe yours is extra sterile so they emphasize both

I don’t know a whole lot about stem cells, how do you grow to select for stem cells without the stem cells differentiating/is there any issue with stem cells differentiating while you try to grow them that then unpurifies a sample?
Great question!! I can answer it in more detail when I do a Q&A soon, but basically the culture conditions select for the stem cells, so only they grow. They only start differentiating if you let them grow too much and the flask gets too full, a whole load of weird stuff starts to happen to them at that point!

I try to film at times when no one is around, but there’s usually one or two people there. But as long as their bench isn’t close to mine they don’t notice haha
