CBT sounds painful. I wouldn't recommend it. So far, Breath of Fire 3 has been the most ball-crushing. It required the most attention to detail, and had far more potential softlocks than any other run. The only reason I got out so unscathed was because I knew it extremely well. The others have been pretty easy, outside of the few roadblocks in FF7. Honestly considering trying that one next, ngl. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the Suikoden series, but if you are, you know exactly what I'm in for.
I've been really digging 7. They simplified a lot of stuff, and added a bunch of things, such as item reincarnation, so you're not trapped into first-trying the perfect item, there's a bit more leniency. It also means you can reincarnate into the next tier, and don't need to rely on thieves or high HIT. I'm not in love with the giant mode, seems like an attempt to change things up by any means necessary, but after 6, 7 was an amazing rebound. Also the story is like half the size of 5 which I love.
Beating the game as a maid who gets into time shenanigans and constantly throws knives. So basically, as Sakuya. Also rather than make them into Giants, a better idea would have been to put them into the Prinny Squad and passing a bill for Prinny Day which will instead triple their stats.

42:18 It's a little complicated. At least in traditional biblical lore and demonology. Them crazy jrpgs just do whatever

Jade Cocoon 2 and Dragon Quarter are some of my go-to tracks when I run out of songs from the game I'm talking about. I'm gonna commend you for your quality taste. Keep converting people to our church of good opinions.
Disgaea 5 was my first foray into the series, and one of the first games I owned on the Switch; while it's nothing too special story-wise, it's certainly one of the best gameplay-wise, and even today I consider it to be a great entry point into the series Congrats on beating the game with a veritable army of zombie meidos and their unlimited supply of throwing knifes
I just started playing Disgaea 5C a few days ago and it never even occurred to me that I could make the damned Throwing Knives of all things so busted! Also Disgaea 2 DHD is the GOAT and I would do unspeakable things to get a Complete version overhaul like D1 received.

It depends on the game for sure. Do I need a compelling narrative in Disgaea? Not particularly, but if it's gonna be 20-something chapters, you've gotta give me a reason to stick around. I thought 4 and D2 still had decent stories. Not as good as 1, but not worse than 2. 5 though, yeah it’s writing was rough, and I never finished 6. Still, I thought 4 and 5 were huge gameplay improvements, especially with a lot of the more obnoxious aspects getting streamlined and there being a bunch of neat new things to play around with.
You could use the item world one of your attack items (like the aoe claymore one) to buff the attack and hit harder i think you could do that with the thief hands in disgaea 2

God, those early reviews... Let's forget about them. :) :) I definitely missed the earnest whimsy in 5. Characters get serious when they have to, then break into whimsy to keep it entertaining in the better games, but in 5, nobody had more than one dimension, they had one trait each and never strayed from it. I wonder if that's why they shove so many story characters into the fold now, because they're multiple parts of what should be a single character? We're going too deep here, PULL UP
@@Caspicum I agree, I don't mind the game being serious one minute and then silly the other, it worked for Disgaea, the problem is with so many different characters its hard to want to focus on them and want to like em. I know you definitely could do it in D1, using throw into absorption shenanigans with monsters, though you had to ensure the real monster was the one that absorbed the clone or it didn't work in the end, or something like that.
Its a shame that Disgaea seems to lose focus the more it goes on. If you use an item to destroy a geo symbol, I'd count that as item damage by proxy. Either way, geo symbol damage is pretty insignificant outside huge chains of them that end in an explosion.
I pretty much did this through my llaythrough after finding out items give EXP to grind a maid up to level 500 then 1000 after chapter 7 then 2000 after chapter 12 then just used exclusively items for the range especially demon bullets
I'm surprised to see that beating the base game wasn't too painful. Wew lad for that postgame though. Also, from what I played of Disgaea 1, it's story had a nice balance of comedy and seriousness to it. It was weeb, but like Pokemon weeb. What happened to the writing?
Disgaea 1 still has one of the most memorable stories of the PS2 era, which is insane considering the amount of amazing games and stories on that system. For every horse wiener and joke about Jennifer's assets, there was legitimate character growth, and moments that made you care about cardboard cutouts. I'd say once they realised that people enjoyed the whimsical jokes, they doubled down and went too hard on it. Effectively flanderizing their future stories before they were written to bring in new customers. JRPGs weren't written like Disgaea, and still aren't, really.
One of the star ocean games item only has to be up next? I need some more of that humour funnelled through one of those beautiful games (obviously I mean 1-3)
I wish I knew enough about Star Oceans 1 and 2 to give it a try, but I think I investigated the third game and found that I couldn't do it. That said, it has been a long time. I've got a short list of games I want to get to in the future, so I will genuinely and thoroughly look into it, I love finding new games where it's possible. When I find new games, I get so excited that I drop everything to start. I found another Final Fantasy was theoretically possible and completed the run. Just working on the script now!
They do have the 20 item limit... I remember being able to craft many items in SO3, but I never really used them except to stun some of the super bosses. That's a shame to hear that, I'm looking forward to the new FF video though.
Maybe I’m too easily entertained, but I really like the characters and story of 5, except Seraphina, she’s not great. The only Disgaea games I’ve come away from not liking are 3 and 6. Still working on 7, but I like it so far.
I thought the start and early parts of the 5 were fine, for me the story only get significantly worse after around midway through when turns out the whole main conflict is actually a family drama. Also yeah I agree most of the characters were fine except Seraphina, and Christo too, nothing wrong with him it's just that even after all the teasing with the angels nothing really happens with that plot thread, just a bit disappointing.
I don't know it! I also knew that this game would be a stat stomp, so I wanted to keep it relatively fair for as long as I could, which granted, was not very long.
ngl, Carnage Baal makes normal Baal look like a joke. Mostly because Carnage Baal is a joke of a fight that pretty much requires you to have 24 maxed out goons with very specific loadouts.
I knew I couldn't take either of the Carnage bosses, but I felt like with a bit more of a grind, I could've taken the vanilla guy. That clip I stole from that dude blew my mind, the amount of time you'd have to sink just to drop him would be insane.
Carnage Baal can be done with a lot less grinding and fewer units than people tend to think, though there's certainly still grinding involved. The fight can be done with 3 attackers (who need maxed subclasses and extracts - using 3 instead of 2 lowers the overall requirements for each of them), a bunch of support units (who need relatively little building), and a load of Carnage Elixirs/Sundaes (for a curry) and Carnage shoes (for movement). It's possible to skip evility slots from Chara World, innocents, the Carnage quest chain (the one leading to Carnage Dark and the corresponding unique evility slot), and maxing items (though mass obtaining Carnage Elixirs still involves spamming Divers in Carnage IW to quickly reach the Innocent Town shop). Carnage Baal should be possible with items, though nightmarish to prepare for and do. For some idea of how it might look there's a Prinny solo of Carnage Baal that uses items for most of the fight. It finishes off the Bits with Squad Attack though (since otherwise it'd take 4+ units).
Honestly the second game's story is roughly the same quality as 3-5 (haven't played 6/7). People only give it a pass on that front because it hadn't gotten stale yet.
I think the second still had a lot of the genuine qualities of the first game, but you could see the whimsy creep even in the family of Adell. He'd be so deadset on saving them, and they'd be calling each other tards, and shit-talking him. It makes sense, they're turning into demons, but it was still pretty solid. The Rozalin stuff was kinda cringe tho ngl
Also personally i really liked D 3’s story. Thought Mao was a more interesting and realistic depiction of the asshole mc character compared to Laharl, also i really like magichange, it made me actually use monster classes
I keep changing the thumb because I kept using low-res images, but I finally settled on a nice, high-res image. It will remain now until I find rule34 of the zombie maid
It's not that their stories are good necessarily, it's that the rest of the series' stories are so horrid and go absolutely nowhere that it makes 1 and 2 look like master classes in writing by comparison.
Casp starts playing the anime game immediately starts making zombie waifus and becomes a hurricane of knife crime, I've never been more invested.
I've personified the UK.

Yeah, it doesn't rock dudes like it used to. I remember clearing maps with it in the older games.
9:57 is it really? She just quit her second job

I pretty much did this through my llaythrough after finding out items give EXP to grind a maid up to level 500 then 1000 after chapter 7 then 2000 after chapter 12 then just used exclusively items for the range especially demon bullets
Yeah I know I have to beat the two games in my backlog, also always play with japanese dub
@@Caspicum That sounds like what happened to Shadow Hearts
Cool Video!

Common Casp W
I'd hate to see a Casp L
Maybe I’m too easily entertained, but I really like the characters and story of 5, except Seraphina, she’s not great. The only Disgaea games I’ve come away from not liking are 3 and 6. Still working on 7, but I like it so far.
3 and 6 are a special breed for sure. I dug 7, it feels like a return to its roots with a bit extra on top. Also, the character designs are sick.
And not one mention of "daddy's hot slab" anywhere :(
It's more of a lukewarm chunk at this point ngl
when is your next video coming out?
It's not too far off. I'm in the editing process, just had a lot of life things come up and get in the way. Thanks for asking!
@@Caspicum thank u for not stopping, love ur vids!
Oops All Maids ~
ty ty! and you too, my friend. Enjoy all that the holidays have to offer!
Disgaea? What about this guy, huh?
I'm more concerned with dat guy, eh. Look at him. Very sad.
i didn't catch it if you said in the video, but why didn't you use the healing item method with the maids in 2-1 to level up quickly?
@@Caspicum I liked the Rozalin weirdness in all honesty. Its the most memorable part of 2. That and Axel.
Fk yeah Caspossosss maaaaate
Nice run, Disgaea 1 to 3 are the best in the series after 4 the story went downhill i agree

WHY DOES THE THUMBNAIL KEEP CHANGING (good video btw)
Also personally i really liked D 3’s story.
Thought Mao was a more interesting and realistic depiction of the asshole mc character compared to Laharl, also i really like magichange, it made me actually use monster classes
I keep changing the thumb because I kept using low-res images, but I finally settled on a nice, high-res image. It will remain now until I find rule34 of the zombie maid
i just posted a bunch of female laharl fanart lol
BASED BASED BASED
This was a very fun video. I loved Disgaea 5... despite its dogshit story. Never would have considered beating it with items only though.
I think the fact that I got through Disgaea 5's story was a miracle. I always stop around chapter 8 for some reason...
@@Caspicum I went back to replay it a year or two ago and it was definitely difficult to push through the main story again.

Why does everyone think disgaea 1 and 2 have better stories. They really don't.
It's not that their stories are good necessarily, it's that the rest of the series' stories are so horrid and go absolutely nowhere that it makes 1 and 2 look like master classes in writing by comparison.
Finally
