    1. Totally agree with you about staying calm, thinking it through and winning the psychological battle. I started playing rugby at ag 19, and every tackle, ruck and maul seemed like total chaos, and I'd always lose the ball. Took a course in coaching, in order to learn the game, and then I'd plan how to get tackled, how to control the ball and my body in a ruck or maul, etc. The chaos and panic was gone.
    2. For street fights, don't forget that you can attack the eyes and throat (probably mostly for distraction in order to do the next thing, but also for pain or to cause injury that disables the opponent and lets you escape), grab or hit the testicles, and grab skin, or the eye socket, or ear or a small digit, to regain control. Or maybe slap the ear to break the eardrum. Anyone who attacks me on the street will quickly discover that MMA rules are only for sport.
    3. Great technical tips on how to trap and roll, how to position the person, and how to use your bent legs.
Thanks again for a great video.

I agee with you. The biggest difference between ground fighting and stand up fighting is. In stand up fighting the faster you can move and better your reflexes are the better you are going deal with the situation. Ground fighting you can take your time and plan your maneuvers. The biggest risk with ground fighting is if there is more than 1 opponent then the ground is a very bad place to be. Because of this it is very important be a good powerful striker to prevent going to the ground. Sometimes you can't avoid going to the ground. In that type of situation experience in ground fighting is very important. And the video showed some very good techniques.

In wrestling, we are taught to turn to our belly and bring our knees in the moment we hit the ground. In wrestling, there are a fair amount of reversals when the opponent is behind you. The two perfect exercises to quicken and strengthen your ground recovery are burpees and sprawling drills.
If you want to avoid being on the ground, one must train falling to the ground.

  • @MS-jz2pq

Breathing is key. The first time I rolled in BJJ I did NOT wanna continue cause I could feel the panic come creeping on me, pure panic. I said this aint for me… And that's the moment I realized..This is the ONLY thing for me.. To overcome that panic and stay cool. Now I rolled for about 2 years and I still get the panic from time to time but there are also moments when I can ride it out, stay cool and even end up on top and submit. Gotta love BJJ.

  • @seankelly6461

Remember if your on the ground someone can kick your teeth out..fights are never fair...always fight to finish quickly..dont wrestle with someone for minutes.

    • @aspenrebel
      @aspenrebel 3 роки тому

Correct!! The last thing you want to do is go to the ground and start wrestling around. Especially if your attacker is trained in wrestling, Judo, BJJ, etc. Also if he has buddies with him (which he most probably does else he wouldn't be attacking you). Also, you don't want to go into a body of water. Stay on your feet, poke him in the eyes, kick him in the groin, kick him in side if knee, stomp his ankle karate chop (shuto) to back of neck. Walk away and go home. Don't waste time and energy with all this machismo bs!! Work fast and deliberate. He attacked you. Remember .... The attacker must vanquish, the defender must merely survive (and go home).

Doesn’t discount the info of the video but No mention of groin strikes, eye gouges, grab the ear instead of the neck or stick a thumb under their jaw/fish hook- elbows to the inside the thighs, etc. if you are mounted and the other person doesn’t want to get off, you are going to struggle.
If someone is really trying to hurt you and
You have superior control over the situation, you are applying skill and trying to de escalate without permanently damaging someone or going to jail.
    . Very different worlds,
I think it’s important to relate again that this is all good stuff but I also want to express that in real survival all bets are off.
Sometimes nice sporty things don’t apply or aren’t enough. If it wasn’t implied, even with extensive training: in the moment, everything can fail. It’s always about who’s better in the moment.

In the few times I've had to be in a situation, I always take the approach taught me by my father from his military training. There is no self-defense.
