Lego bricks are made of ABS, so they'll stick better to acrylic resins than they will to epoxy. You can also make them stickier by spritzing them with a little acetone before you pour the resin in.
skonkfactory Why does this go into a pressure pot? Why into a vacuum, it would get all the air out and make it stronger. That’s how carbon fiber is made so strong.
It's all about prep Nick. Line up all your lego pieces face down and fill them all with a little resin. Let it go off for 48 hours (or whatever it requires) THEN throw them in the mold. Now they won't hold onto bubbles that would otherwise be trapped! As for that notch where the piece pinged out... put a corresponding notch in the lid rim and you have space for a spoon handle!
You can't eat out of resin containers, they aren't food safe most of the time, he''d have had to have used some kind of resin that was designated as food safe for containers.
I was thinking that maybe he could put something on the lid that would fit perfectly in that groove, so that it would lock the lid in place. Not really necessary, but it would hide the notch
with regards to the bubbles and air pockets in the lego (or similar), as your using epoxy which has a slow cure time it may be worth considering getting a vacuum chamber to pull out a large amount of the air first before then placing it into the pressure pot (you could even use it later on to do stabilized wood projects)
darren robertson my thought, too! Peter Brown just got one so now I keep thinking of all the projects that could use a vacuum I'd love to see Nick play with one, too!
This is the 1st time I've ever seen or heard of you, as I was scrolling through vids, you caught my attention, lemme say, I totally love different, outta the box, funky ideas. I wish I could honestly say that I loved your idea & vid, but I was so distracted the only things I can tell you about the idea/vid is that I saw a REALLY GOOD LOOKIN GUY holding a kinda roundish, clear container that appeared to be filled with Karo syrup and gummy bears, at 1point I THINK the really good looking guy stirred the gummy syrup, buuut, I could be wrong, I'm pretty sure I mentioned having been quite distracted. THERE IS ONE THING about this that I am 100% sure of, and THAT IS THIS GUY IS VERY GOOD LOOKING AND I'LL BE WATCHING HIM FROM NOW ON! Oh wait...that was 2 things, EH, OH WELL...
Damn that is brilliant! Nice one :) Perhaps next time around make a bedside lamp out of it! The light shining through really punches out the colours?! Love your channel btw :)
a pressure pot doesn't relieve bubbles (or cause them to release... A Vacuum chamber does that... A pressure pot compresses the air making small bubbles into micro bubbles....
I use pressure chambers to shrink the bubbles in silicone. I let the silicone cure at pressure and the bubbles stay small ones it's cured. That's what he's going for. A vacuum chamber would have shifted the Legos too much I feel.
At first I was thinking, "Oh no, not Lego again!" But then I decided I liked it. This is the best one yet! Great job Nick! Loved the microwave Yorkshire Grit!
@@nathanpham1432 realise that the person said that he should try putting orbeez in resin said that 7 months ago and the video about him putting orbeez in resin was posted less than 7 months ago sooooo...
I have watched you make a lot of stuff but this is seriously the coolest. It love the way the translucent bricks play with the light. I’m glad you didn’t have to switch to solid because it just wouldn’t have the same effect. Great job man!
What if you took Lego and assembled a block with it? If you covered them in resin and made them stick in the block, you could carve that like you would a chunk of wood. I hope that sounds the way I want it to haha
Usually when dry resin is in wet resin it fills the cracks and bumps (light reflecting off the uneven surface causes the cloudy silver look) so the shreds of resin would essentially turn invisible unless they were colored resin or had something in them. And considering that legos don’t stick very well to resin, we can assume the resin slovers wont have lego in them, and will justbe clewr resin. At least that’s what I’d guess would happen.
The missing piece adds character. It looked awesome with the light shining from behind, needs to have a flameless candle, fairy lights, led lights, etc inside to make it really pop. Placing it in front of a small 3-way mirror with the lights glowing inside it and the room dimly lit would make it a perfect focal point of any room and a nice night light.
I don't know why, but I so wanted the Lego and resin to be giggly like a giant gummy when you took it out of the pressure tank! I know resin isn't gummy but that would have been soooooo satisfying! This video was awesome! :)
This turned out really great!! I love the little missing piece. A lot of resin turners could make one of these but nine will have that little distinction!
I just want to get this out there because it's one of my pet peeves translucent is what he's using transparent is clear like glass is transparent not translucent
A Lego pot with character.( a crack in the top.) Looks great. Put some potpourri inside this pot and it would be great. "FUNKY" HAPPY DAYS LOOKS GREAT Nick. I love how these projects come together to make something. A one of a kind pot.
idea for next time -->> maybe adding a led or two into the base to light up all that Lego and resin awesomeness ? Thanks so much for sharing. That was a fun one to watch! Cheers
I don't know anything about creating or this man, but I kind of love him...
Lego bricks are made of ABS, so they'll stick better to acrylic resins than they will to epoxy. You can also make them stickier by spritzing them with a little acetone before you pour the resin in.
skonkfactory

That would be the case, if these were actually "Lego" they are clearly the chinese knock-offs

Ian Lynch great advice tenacity wins
He could notch it like you said and then make a Lego / epoxy honey dipper and turn it into a honey pot.
You know what'd be sick?
A coffee mug with Lego figures set in the sides...
Where the lego fell out cut the notch deeper to fit a spoon then fill it with sugar and you have a little sugar bowl for your tea or coffee
kenny didnt die that’s what I thought
kenny didnt die

I kept wanting to see a light inside it
I like how you put lego batman movie clips all over the place.
Dude, shine a black light on it, guaranteed to be AWESOME!!
Katelyn Coate Jan
U r unbearably cool!
LOVE this!
I could watch u all day!!!
U r gorgeous no matter what u do & ur creations r stunning!
I think it turned out really pretty, I like the clear, coloured, legos. : )

The Lego brick looks great with the bubbles! Reminds me of kelp forests
with regards to the bubbles and air pockets in the lego (or similar), as your using epoxy which has a slow cure time it may be worth considering getting a vacuum chamber to pull out a large amount of the air first before then placing it into the pressure pot (you could even use it later on to do stabilized wood projects)
darren robertson my thought, too! Peter Brown just got one so now I keep thinking of all the projects that could use a vacuum I'd love to see Nick play with one, too!
Or he could try to make one?
He'd still get air bubbles in the resin because of mixing the Legos in. Honestly the pressure chamber is the best option.
I am happy that I have found a video with LEGO in it and you are saying lego correctly. It really grinds my gears when people say legos.
This is the 1st time I've ever seen or heard of you, as I was scrolling through vids, you caught my attention, lemme say, I totally love different, outta the box, funky ideas.

My kids would absolutely love this. Beautiful piece of art
Damn that is brilliant! Nice one :) Perhaps next time around make a bedside lamp out of it! The light shining through really punches out the colours?! Love your channel btw :)
So colorful and pretty. love the transluscency of the resin with the black glossy wood highlights.
a pressure pot doesn't relieve bubbles (or cause them to release... A Vacuum chamber does that... A pressure pot compresses the air making small bubbles into micro bubbles....
Robert Capraun Exactly! When I heard him say that I was like "how the hell is massive pressure supposed to relieve bubbles?"
I use pressure chambers to shrink the bubbles in silicone. I let the silicone cure at pressure and the bubbles stay small ones it's cured. That's what he's going for. A vacuum chamber would have shifted the Legos too much I feel.
And I thought this was supposed to be a vacuum chamber...
Oh well. You know what they say! Out of sight and out of mind!
Awesome! Funky Lego-tastic!
Trying to eliminate bubbles...? Mix in a LITTLE MORE AIR!
Looks like what you see when you’re looking into a kaleidoscope. Awesome!
It would have looked super cool if you found a way to embed a LED in the base so the legos would light up from the inside out.
Love Legos! Do more, please!! It's so fun to watch you create!
At first I was thinking, "Oh no, not Lego again!" But then I decided I liked it. This is the best one yet! Great job Nick!
Loved the microwave Yorkshire Grit!
You’ve done it again. I love this one and the wooden finial is the right touch. Again a great piece 😊
You should try orbeez with resin.
L Klose the water would interact with the resin pretty badly. It could be an interesting experiment, but I doubt it would cure at all
MrsInAbox you could use them without adding the water
He did it
And it gave people anxeity
@@nathanpham1432 realise that the person said that he should try putting orbeez in resin said that 7 months ago and the video about him putting orbeez in resin was posted less than 7 months ago sooooo...
Love the bits of the Lego movie in this. Cool idea!!
You should make a silicone mould out of a wine bottle, make a lego ship, and make a ship in a bottle out of resin 😃
I have watched you make a lot of stuff but this is seriously the coolest. It love the way the translucent bricks play with the light. I’m glad you didn’t have to switch to solid because it just wouldn’t have the same effect. Great job man!
Would you make a project using glow in the dark resin stones
LEGOS MAKE A LEGO POT!!!! OUTSTANDING,AND BEAUTIFUL
I love funky stuff too!! 👊🤘 Looks like gummy candy! Nice work dude!

This Pot is mind blowing Awesome Cool!
Great Project, Fantastic!
That really looks great, so colorful! Really love it!
Idea: could you cut out where the LEGO piece came out for a spoon and turn it into a jam jar?
I love that idea.......Super!
CMTHFAF i think the resin isnt food safe otherwise I'd agree. It would be a fun sugar bowl with a leave in spoon there, too...
CMTHFAF that’s a good idea . Haha thanks Colleen 🤪👍🏽
I could listen and watch you all day long. 😁
What if you took Lego and assembled a block with it? If you covered them in resin and made them stick in the block, you could carve that like you would a chunk of wood. I hope that sounds the way I want it to haha
Amazing stuff really helps with my anxiety watching these, real calming to watch. Thanks
oowh ohohhohohoh i have idea!!!!!!!! you should pud saw dust into resin! or put the resin "slivers" into fresh resin!!!! that might look
This turned out REALLY well! Very cool!!!!
Have you ever suspended poker chips in resin to make something?
Must be so awesome to have that kind of talent to create something different! Just wow.

Hi ☺ I was wondering if you have ever made anything out of rainbow eucalyptus wood? 💜
IT TURNED OUT REALLY NICE, I LOVE IT
You would think that the resin strings would be colorful since there is legos mixed in it
By far my favorite Lego piece! Awesome
You do not sound like I thought you would, but I'm pleasantly surprised.

Same. Then I saw the mug with the website... xD
I don't know why, but I so wanted the Lego and resin to be giggly like a giant gummy when you took it out of the pressure tank! I know resin isn't gummy but that would have been soooooo satisfying! This video was awesome! :)
I would not like to smoke this pot.
Kristian Sandsmark but hickok would
i would not like it, not one bot.
I haven't tried any of these yet but this is my favourite channel.
Don't lose the beard! Maybe just shape it down to a goatee, if you really need to make a change..?
This is the best thing ever!!! Absolutely love your videos!!!
You can keep pineapple lumps in there.
Or gummy bears
This turned out really great!! I love the little missing piece. A lot of resin turners could make one of these but nine will have that little distinction!
Fake LEGO...
Videos such as these are so nice and satisfying to watch... I love it!
I don't like the black top I think you should have went with a Lego head first intuition is always best intuition
I mean not always.
Or wood top
You should totally make a Lego mug! Also, you did a wonderful job. Nice job!

I love this!! I want something like this for my kids dresser 😍
idea for next time -->> maybe adding a led or two into the base to light up all that Lego and resin awesomeness ? Thanks so much for sharing. That was a fun one to watch! Cheers
