    I just purchased a box of the sound deadener for the doors of my 76 series. I ended up using 3 sheets per front door so came up short for the larger rear door, but wow what a difference! I was really impressed with the difference that doing just the doors made. Cant wait to get the rest done some time down the track. Great product!

    Your videos are top notch and your products are super high quality.
    Got your stage 4 kit for my 76 cos its getting a big stereo upgrade. Getting the fibre crap stuck to the ceiling of the car was such a nightmare. But after that its pretty smooth sailing.
    Ive gone for slightly different distribution as i need the inner door skins done too at the front, and i also used the excess ceiling foam on the rear wheel arches.
    Cant wait to drive it once its all done, but ive got wiring and installation left yet so were a few weeks off.
    All your staff at the shop are awesome too. Knowledgeable and kind and know their stuff.
    Love your work guys

      Thanks so much Charlie. I'll past that feedback onto the team. Yes, the 76 roof insulation can be frustrating. We find the 76 installs a bit hit and miss with the way it is stuck to the roof. It's like the glue guy in the production line went overboard every now and then- you obviuosly got him on one of those days 😩

    You mentioned that the closed cell foam can be glued to the underside of the carpet.
    However, there is a layer of the factory cotton felt underlay factory glued to the carpet. Mine got moldy and stinky over time.
    Gluing the closed cell foam to the cotton felt seems like a stupid solution, and would make the carpet underlay too thick for proper fitting back into the cabin.
    So, I want to remove the factory cotton felt first and then stick the closed cell foam directly to the underside of the carpet.
    THE QUESTION IS:
    How to easily completely remove the glued cotton felt from the underside of the carpet? I tried cutting it off with a knife, but a thin layer of cotton fibers remains glued to the carpet.

    • @carbuilders1
      @carbuilders1  5 років тому

      Hi NlhadH. Yes, definitely remove the cotton jute underlay. We would never stick our product to an existing underlay. To answer your questions, as you have found you can rip the jute off. You then have a couple of options. This will come down to case by case assessment. You could clean the surface so you remove the remaining fibres (which may be difficult and time consuming) or you could use an upholstery grade glue to create a stronger adhesive than the standard peel and stick on the foam. Good luck 👍

    Great video thanks guys. From your experience when the insulation and deadening is complete does the 76 have a similar cab ambiance to a 200 series or 150 prado? I realise that there are variables in play but pure a pure decibel decrease is tough to perceive

    • @carbuilders1
      @carbuilders1  3 роки тому +1

      My 70 Prado is very comfortable, electic everthing with nice seats which are the same as the 80 series.

    • @carbuilders1
      @carbuilders1  4 роки тому

      Hi Dawinderpal. It depends on where you are treating and what products you use. If you do the floor/wheel arches and a foam underlay you will be around 20kg. Then you could go up to around 50kg if you do the roof and the premium underlay (which is a mass loaded vinyl and heavier than just foam) Give us a call to walk through it in more detail 03 8777 0960

    • @carbuilders1
      @carbuilders1  3 роки тому

      Hi G Mt. With the doors, sound deadener on the door skins is effective for panel vibration noise. With regards to windows, there isn't much you can do there. Do you have good rubbers?
