For those stuck with old PCs I cannot emphasize enough just how much difference an SSD makes, if you don't have one then get one.
I second this, loading is mere seconds!!
i can also reccomend getting a smaller sized ssd (like 100/200gb) you prolly wont be able to install much on it, but simply having an ssd running your windows (or any os) can really improve your hard drive performance
What is an SSD?
@@attackonblitz3838 A Solid State Drive, they're common now, they store data on chips rather than on a disk.
@@attackonblitz3838 it's a Solid State Storage Drive. They're much much faster than normal hard drives that use discs to read/write data.
As a former fellow low-end peasant,I've "picked up"(basic research) some "useful tips"(common knowledge):
-Object removal mods are usually placebo and could conflict with other mods,although many of the newer ones claim they don't,so chalk that up to more safe removal methods;
-DXVK can save your framerate if your setup plays with it nicely(it did on my current mid-end machine);
-NVAC doesn't solve issues,it just makes the game ignore them.
-WallSoBG's(sorry if I butchered the name) performance guide should be the Holy Bible to anyone encountering performance issues on NV.
Yeah I initially wanted to include dxvk but I personally got better performance without it so I just scraped that part
@@LostMyPowerArmor Precisely,it's a matter of whether your graphics card supports it or not,my previous machine didn't either.
Now,mentioning it would've been helpful, but folks will see comments and find out on their own.
Dude I could kiss you DXVK completely restored my playthrough. You beautiful human.
What is wallsobg's performance guide? I looked it up and couldn't find it
@@kazuhiraeinzbern813 It worked for me when looking up "FNV performance guide" right now.
If that doesn't work, head over to Viva New Vegas,it's most likely linked there.
I'd drop it here, but YT seems to really dislike that.
my favorite PD2 music being used at the beginning is just peak.
Great video! Just letting you know you forgot to link the video discussing configuration file tweaks though!
Thanks mate, I will update description
Don't have any problems with the game, but it's just fun to watch at mods than can add improvements to the game. Nice video :D !!
Thanks man. Lot of people were asking me to make this video so I made it, I use some of these mods too, the ones that don't remove anything easy to notice. and things like zlib, engine fixes etc are just good to have.
never use new vegas anti crash its ancient and bloats your system.
False
i think u meant NVTF
I agree. Multiple mod authors in the recent times have stated that NVAC is old, useless and bloated.
The reason they say nvac is bad is because it hides the problems you're supposed to deal with. You should instead try to make the game stable WITHOUT nvac. However once you do that and start encountering random crashes that don't have any explanation besides the game being old and inconsistent, then you can safely install nvac for an extra layer of protection that prevents crashes that you can't do anything about and won't have any effect on your save file anyway because they are logic fails that go away after a while. Basically, get your setup running , and if you see some infrequent random crashes that can't be replicated , get nvac.
@@dungzlattnvtf is the goat
I don't know if this is specific to my laptop, but I noticed Extended Roombounds and Performance For The People (2 mods that do the same, ExRB of interiors and PFTP for exteriors.) actually dropped my FPS significantly, to a point my game was running at such low FPS that it was in slow-motion instead of being choppy/with less actual frames with both installed. If anyone else has this problem let me know.
Mad Dog of California/Mad Dog of House/Mad Dog of Caesar/Mad Dog of No One
Just use Viva New Vegas?
i tried multiple fixes but nothing wont get it done, i would still get this 10fps even on modern rig. So, if you like me - use DXVK for New Vegas, which havent been mentioned here but it deserves to. This thing alone will get you smooth and stable 60fps
Confirm. It's best plugin even if not use texture overhaul mod, i use it for more performance with high setting without setting my game to low/med 🔥🔥🔥
How did you get rid of the stutter that dxvk causes
@@ashkanfattahi1945 i have almost no stutter with DXVK
@@Ratzy-h8q yea i got it but why does anti aliasing affect performance so much? Without it i get 60 smooth but even 2* anti alising while lowering everything else causes massive stuttering? Did you find a fix for that?
no, i havent cuz i havent got any issues with it to begin with. I blv it has some beef with a videocard maybe, antialising alone is a very demanding feature but modded antialising is far more demanding cuz it isnt optimized for various hardware ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
why is nobody talking about the baby bombs😭😭
its a mod right?
@@kailanretroit9487 no
I love how simple and on point the explanation is. Really helpfull Thank you!
I appreciate you my man. I now run 60fps across the entire wasteland. next up, TTW performance fixes?
😄
maybe, I never played with ttw that much but i will see if i can find mods to improve it's performance.
@@LostMyPowerArmordoes dxvk do anything for you?
Well, dxvk actually reduced my fps so I excluded it from the video
@@LostMyPowerArmor yeah pretty funny that is also the case for me, but still hits 60 GPS and was smoother for me. Which is kinda weird because lots of people see big uplifts with it, must be a newer/high-end hardware thing
Yes, not only that but it seems it's different for different games. I got better fps in gta iv and dragons dogma dark arisen with dxvk but got worse performance in fnv
May I ask whats the mod that adds that door interaction around 4:51, I'm a crackhead for anything that adds immersion.
here you go mate : www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/83096
@@LostMyPowerArmor thanks, tho I couldn't make it work.
Make sure to download all the required mods and also use a mod manger such as mo2 or vortex. Let me know if that helps
@@LostMyPowerArmor nah, I already had it downloaded and installed through vortex. I've been using that author weapon animations with no problem. 3 hours troubleshooting for it to not work just makes you accept universe decisions.
@queteimporta7262 sorry to hear that, these animations are really good. I really can't play the game without them anymore.
My 4060Ti be running that game at sub 60 with the strobe turned on, meanwhile in Linux Mint unmodded it be hitting 120 - 130 fps.
Olds systems ?? I have I7 12gen and GF 4080 game shutters all the time...
Did you solve the problem??
@@remiendo-insigne8494 Nah trying multiple fan patches and mod improvements... Just give up...
Awesome video as always!!
thanks man. researching for this video actually helped me increase my performance so for me it was double win
I wish there was a version of New Vegas with all this pre installed.
You can use someone's collection of they make it into a collection, simply downloading the collection will install all the mods.
But you need vortex in order to use collections.
Jip broke my game it made the room super dark could hardly see
So I got FNV on Epic and the 4GB patcher mods claimes it doesn´t work on epic, I used the epic patcher mod tho, so can I savely use the 4GB patcher mod or does it break my game ?
Very sorry for the late reply. I am sure you have already figured something out. But still, as far as I know the epic games patcher essentially turns the epic version into the steam version. So yeah, you can use 4gb patcher without any problem.
New Vegas Anti Crash is amazing, people bash on it for no reason
I found that it can screw up my saves
@@knowledgeanddefense1054that is only if you have mods that will corrupt the savegame
@@knowledgeanddefense1054 never had issues, in fact, if you clean up your mods and make a merge patch, NVAC makes the game perfectly stable, almost zero crashing even after hours of gameplay
This comment section gave me schizophrenia
hoovering up these performance plugins like a fat kid eats cheetos
whats the animation mod you use?
its hit's animations : www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/73856
Good vid.But i think much easy open all map in GECK and deliete almost everyone and pack it in Esp-done almost 60 fps garanteed)
You show the mod to fast I can't see what the mod is
what crosshair mod are you using?
this one : www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66676
Can you make a part 2
seems perfect for trying to play on steam deck, as always very cool
i think steam deck will be able to run the game mostly fine considering that it can even run cybrpunk and rdr 2. but those technical mods can be used anyway no matter your system cause they don't affect visuals.
@@LostMyPowerArmornot really, it barely gets 30 fps and has constant visual glitches, probbably something im doing wrong but for now ill use these mods
I see, I thought a system that can run cyberpunk may run fnv with ease but maybe that's not the case. I really don't know too much about the steam deck. Anyway, hopefully these mods will make the game fps better for you
@@Fish_Nugget2018i get a consistent 90 fps on my steam deck, try adjusting actor fade and similar options
The second half of this video is against my religion : ) (Which is about cluttering the game with as much of awesome stuff as possible), but the first part is a must have for anyone who plays New Vegas for sure (I mean, you can't even make proper mods these days without half of those things).
I used to watch a channel called lowspec gamer who used to make the games look like plastic just to make them "playable" at a solid 25 fps.
Someone actually did that to fnv too : ua-cam.com/video/ji7kfzIoQGg/v-deo.htmlsi=Eg-_eitq09PfN2yj
Watch this video if you wanna feel pain
@@LostMyPowerArmor I watched. I feel...
Why did you go back to the AI voice?
My videos were not doing well at all and I didn't want to let my channel die just to use my own voice own voice in the videos.
I am still doing livestreams with my own voice to justify the purchase of a 80 dollar mic.
DXVK helps too
I got worse performance with it :( I'm using a 7800xt
Need one for skyrim also good video
Bro uses anti crash and forgot to mention dxvk ☠️
i didn't forget i excluded it because it gave my system worse performance.
@@LostMyPowerArmor are you on older hardware? Even my 1050ti 8700 non k pc got a massive fps boost. Older hardware tends to struggle with newer apis .
