    You guys are amazing. From a condo city girl to a country duo. You look magnificent in the country and you will never ever finish your work. I know for a fact. Hard honest work is great for your body and soul. Take your time, pace yourselves. You two have years to build and grow things. No hurry, patience is a wonderful virtue. My husband is 73 and I am 67. We are thankful that we can still work on our place and projects. I know your family will work hard to help you too. I just love watching your videos. They are never boring, I don’t know how you do it. Like I said you’re amazing. ❤

    If you water at dusk, they might get mildew on them. Most gardeners only water in the morning so the sun can dry the water up, I do raised beds for tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers onions, and garlic. JMO. There’s a lot of research on UA-cam for it. Raised beds aren’t the same as planting in a garden.

    I would encourage you and Tim to use all of the roof surface. Place one rain 🌧 barrel on one side and one on the other. You are going to want a slight slope to get the water💧 to flow into the catch basin. Repeat it on the other side. Otherwise the tanks are competing for the water 💧on one side and the other side is being wasted. You want to take advantage of every square ⬛️ inch you can place a rain 🌧 gutter. The barrel we used provided plenty of water 💧 for our food forest.

    Hey I just watched Texas garden guy fill a raised garden bed. I tried to share but couldn't. He put cardboard down,then wood chips then compost then your soil on top. I know I missed a step but not sure what. There is a cross stitched that uses beds like you and she has a video how they fill them. I know she fills them up with a lot of plastic then adds other stuff. That channel is Stitching with the housewives. Might be worth looking at. Love your channel.

    Concrete blocks should be installed with holes facing vertical for maximum structural integrity. If it is not too late, you might want to change the blocks so that they do not break from the weight of the building.

    • @tinadenike2357
      @tinadenike2357 2 місяці тому +8

      That's just what my husband said the blocks laying that way are at the weaknesses the webs is where the strength is he was a mason for over 20 years

    • @Barbie62963
      @Barbie62963 2 місяці тому +1

      The concrete blocks should be standing upright rather than laying on their side. My husband worked at a factory that made concrete blocks. He said the strength of the block is when they are upright. If they are laid on their side they could easily collapse from the weight on them. I hope you see this and look into it before you build on top of them. I would hate for you to have issues later on.

    I have 2 rain barrels that fill from a gazebo with a metal roof in my yard. My only problem, I didn't make the platforms high enough. Since the system works on gravity the closer the tank is to the roof the better. Our current platforms are 18 in. This summer I'm draining the barrels and raising the platform to 28 in. I'd also recommend placing a tank on each side of the shed. Make use of the water coming off the other side of your roof. Make sure to have an over fill hose near the top. I love my system and I think you'll love yours. Put the same system by the chicken coop. They will need water too. Tim is so handy, he amazes me. It's like a ballet watching the two of you working together. You two make a great pair.

    Fruit trees are cheaper to buy in the fall and they are sorta dormant and will kinda take hold so when spring comes they can start blooming, sometimes you can get good deals even on the cheap trees because the nurseries don’t want to house them threw the winter, so my husband really does a good deal with them.😊 also I love that lady’s idea of a sign on your barn when you get it painted of calling it sweet willow berry farm.

It said if you water plants at nite they can get moldy and if you water on the plant directly you can scorch their leaves. Now I don't know if it's certain plants they're talking about or all but you may check it out and I'll do the same. Good luck with your gardening!

You will be surprised at how fast you will be filling it with all the garden equipment. In this case bigger is better. Also when you bring the rain barrel down to the garden area, take two watering cans with you. As you are using one, the other one can be filling up with water.

    I have a well that we attached a rain bird sprinkler system to. ( our well is not close to our home). It not only waters our grass, separate tubing to our large flower pots, a drip line for our trees and we ran black tubing underground to our garden and put a faucet next to our garden bed on our property. All on an automated sprinkler system. Before winter we have it blown out like a sprinkler system so it won’t freeze. Everything is watered on 10 zones and no hoses except by my garden. Best investment EVER!

    Great job on y'all's progress. You and your husband are hard workers. Everything is coming together nicely! 🙂👍 I'm glad y'all are now living the dream of owning a homestead on a beautiful peace of land. ❤ I know in the last video before your last one, I said, I thought the windmill looked good where it was after you gotten it put together but It looks good closer to the fence too. 👍
