I got into switchblades and butterfly knives specifically because California made them cooler by restricting them. I had a few of these adorable baby knives, but I always found a way to get my hands on full sized blades anyway. I probably had about 10 of those little Keychain balisongs throughout my childhood, and some truly hideous automatics with a inch and a half long blade
I rotate the Launch 4, the Strike Stubby, the kalashnikov Stubby & the Boker Vox in my edc. I also carry full size primary knives but all these Cali-legal autos are great secondary edc’s!
@@wethotgrass I’ve also added a Hogue CA legal microswitch auto. I would say my Hogue & the Launch 4 have been my favorites. I like them all but those two have a much better build quality overall.
Been a knife guy for years, but really wanting to deepen my knowledge. I don't live in CA anymore, but I love the really compact knives. I've had my eye on the Boker Stubby Strike, and every video I watch about it is unanimous that it's an excellent knife. Can't find the version with a silver blade and black handle in stock anywhere, but the green handle/ black blade, is beautiful too. Thank you for your videos and attention to detail! Like, Subscribed, and bookmarked your website in my browser! Thank you!
I’m from California. Have no clue why automatics are illegal. Spring assisted knives are just as quick and more reliable. Almost all automatics I’ve owned have malfunctioned and eventually become unreliable.
I have a boker sub kalashnikov, next would probably be the stubby strike. The fat handles on those knives make them really easy to control compared to when most companies that try to make a "mini me" version of their knife that feels like trying to use a grain of rice to open a box.
If you shop around you can still get this stuff shipped to you. I got a benchmark butterfly knife shipped to me in Cali from swords knives and daggers. Always hated Cali laws restricting you from even buying them as a collection piece
I have a great Cal.Leg. Italian stiletto- Brazilian Horn clip blade 5"Closed, with safety slidein button- very nice little knife!!! -GARY 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭
Since the NYPRA Bruin decision there needs to be a law suit since this knife restriction would be considered unconstitutional. There were no knife restrictions in 1791 which all courts have to go by test, history, and tradition when the constitution was ratified in 1791. It’s ridiculous that we cannot carry an auto knife in Ca more than 2”, especially for those with conceal carry permits. I need a defensive edc knife whether fixed like a push dagger which cannot be legally concealed.
Thanx for the cool video....I have the launch 4. 9 and 12 with 2.5 blade and the green with 1.9 blade....I too luv them all and guessing 9 is at the top . Wanna pick up kalashnikov stub with s30 v steel. Take care .
Hi,i have a question. I reeeeelly want to buy a stiletto otf (I see it with some time ago,25 $ if i remember good),you can send it to Romania,if yes how much cost the shipping? Please answer to me soon, and keep the good work up. Respect from Ro!
i have the BÖKER STUBBY i wear it as a backup sideways on my belt just in front of my left front pocket, With my K-BAR Jarosz Turok on left side behind front pocket. That litte BÖKER STUBBY Cracks when deployed, One of my Snappier autos (other than my ITALIANS) and the fat belly on the D2 blade makes it feel like a larger blade. Probably not for everyone but Super concealable im in CA so gotta watch what i carry. no AUTOS, BUT FIXED BLADE K-BAR Totally legal....i do what I WANT!!! J.M.O. HAPPY HOLIDAYS YA'LL
Please review penal code section 21510. Each knife that you are reviewing is considered an illegal knife and cannot be carried in public in California. Please provide the proper disclaimer so people won't unnecessarily be arrested or cited.
That is not totally correct. Read all the penal codes. Each city has separate codes. California State Law states "Automatics are legal as long as the blade is "Under 2 inches" in length.
Alright, here we go! California legal automatic knives! So let's get out our microscopes and take a look!

Hey ! California can I own this knife? California-“do you think it’s cool?” Me-yes! California-“Nope! Jail for you!”

So the launch 4 was called a "spear head blade" I think, what's the difference between that and a dropdown blade?
Drop point*
I have a Launch 1. Since I have a CCW I think I'm legal in Cali. I love it

I've carried a Kershaw Launch 9 for a couple of years. Is a good little knife, but has its limitations. In the market for another Cali-legal auto.
