I finished reading City of Lost Souls and it is my absolute favorite of the entire series. Mytholgy, action, characters, romance, ... It was by far THE best for me. I love how Cassandra is putting the focus on not just Clary and Jace (or like in book 4 Simon) but now Alec and Isabelle are a lot more present which gives it a more complete but also complex reading experience. I also love how - no matter what mistakes they made - I could always understand why they made it because of the excellent writing. Clary became this incredibly bad ass character; I have to admit I was giving up on her a bit but this made me love her! And the Malec romance is so epic; that ending! Sad :(
I kinda loved Sebastian's character. He had the same Valentine charm but it was sad because he was hurt so much in his life. He's a great character, and one of my favorites I think even though he's annoying as fuck.
SPOILER ALERTTTT!!! I loved the part where Clary was like: "I missed you. I missed you so much." And Jace started crying! The boy who never cried again! Oh my God it just....made me cry too....
Oh oh and do you guys remember that scene when the demon wanted their happy memories and Simon saw splashes of them and that one sentence- boy with blue eyes- broke my heart because Magnus gave away a memory of Will

Magnus and Simon had so many hilarious lines in this book. I loved when Jocelyn freaks out at Simon for going with Jace and storms out on pg. 215 and you turn the page pause...Magnus said finally breaking the silence."who's up for raising Azazel? Because we're going to need a whole lot of candles." Cassandra Clare managed to use a page turn for comedic timing??? So good. ALSO when Magnus accuses Simon of eating his cat. The banter between then was great. AND when Simon remarks only Magnus would have access to sequined body armor There were so many parts where I laughed out loud. Thank you Christine for sharing this series with me and honestly getting me back into reading. If it weren't for your book talks I wouldn't be devouring books like I am today. Your excitement is contagious and it's so nice to share a reading experience with someone else. Keep up the great work!
I really loved Sebastian in this book.. Is that weird? I guess so. Him "pretending" to love his sister I thought was really cute and him saving her from the Demons adorable. To be honest my thoughts are someone is controlling Sebastian and he's not in full control of himself. Kinda like how Sebastian does with Jace only different..? I guess. ANYWAYS. If he is in control I can see why he is such a monster like Clary's mom just leaving him with Valentine that was messed up. Anyway I really liked him in this book and I really hope he doesn't die in Heavenly Fire. I keep forgetting that he killed Max. Dammit. I have such mixed feelings when it comes to Sebastian.
Yeah, I felt the same way. I really thought that he was a complicated interesting character and if anything I enjoyed his role in the book. Like, I don't condone his actions or anything, but I really like Sebastian. I think the demon blood would be the thing that is controlling him; it's clouding his judgment making him do the wrong thing. I think it would be cool to see that resolved in the last book, but probably not likely.

For a second I thought he was gonna die and I just kept thinking THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT ALEC! He was so hellbent on making Magnus's life shorter and he should have just been enjoying his time with him!! I got emotional in the Rebecca-Simon scene too, also several times when Jace was acting so much like himself but it's not really him and we just love him and it's hard!! Clary dealt with the situation with such strength to be inspired of!

She appeared in the last scene of City if Glass when everyone is celebrating the defeat of Valentine. In the book, it shows Tessa with a white dress, I think, and in the scene she is talking to Magnus. Clary notices her but doesn't know who she is.

THEE BEST! also when jordan and maia finally hook up. it was about damn time.sheesh and a the heartwrenching part when Sebastian almost seems human and Clary can kinda see her living in the apartment. Just the 3 of them, until and Clary (and all of us) get the wake up call and Jace is still alive in him.
Sebastian is my favorite chara I have no idea why I didn't like Valentine but I do like sebastian I thought note at the end was badass when he first died in city of glass I was sad but when I was reading fallen angels I knew he was coming back I waited and I almost gave up hope but then I saw the tank and personally I don't think they will kill him because when has a character on the book cover died? And not come back? Sebastian and clary are on the front cover of the city of heavenly fire which I think is adorable anyways then all ads for it Say that the end is also the beginning? So think that in the end sebastian will survive and so will clary and probably jace and then somthing new has completely started with them sebastian does do bad things but I just like him he's funny at times and I Think that he really does feel things but they are deep deep and he doesn't show them and clary in the book even said that she knew he was just afraid of being alone and left and he doesn't know how to earn love but he try's to feel it. I mean who would when your dad fed you demon blood and whipped you and taught you To never love then disliked you Because you were "too evil" how was it his fault when you raised him like that? And also your mother hated you since you were born for somthing you couldn't have prevented joycelyn shouldn't have hated him as a baby when sebastian had nothing to do with the demon blood it's pretty sad when the only person who really loves you is a evil demon lady who's dead.

I haven't even read the Infernal Devices yet, but I totally agree that Brother Zachariah is Will. If it is, do you know what this means?! A CROSSOVER BETWEEN TWO DIFFERENT CASSY CLARE BOOKS!!!! THAT IS SOOOO GENIUS!!! This is what I love about her. What other author has done this?! She has ties basically between all of her books. I love this.
Um, came to this conclusion on how Jace and Sebastian were teleporting on the spot, I think it has to do with the way Mortamain was teleporting also. That somewhere down the line it got in the hands of Charlotte who kept it as a Fairchild heirloom and then Valentine got his psycho hands on it then passed it on to Sebastian. Crazy connections!

Um, came to this conclusion on how Jace and Sebastian were teleporting on the spot, I think it has to do with the way Mortamain was teleporting also. That somewhere down the line it got in the hands of Charlotte who kept it as a Fairchild heirloom and then Valentine got his psycho hands on it then passed it on to Sebastian. Crazy connections!

Yeah, that's the fan theory. He mentions "having loved only two people before" (like Jem and Tessa), and there were lots of other clues throughout the book that points to that theory.

i just finished this book and im going through old booktalks lmao but i feel like brother zachariah could be jem bc they said his fingers were slender and he was calm and stuff, will feels more like wild idk than that, but i would be happy if it was will bc then he would still be alive. also what if when jocelyn said "a warlock told me ur dad cheated" to izzy it was tessa bc jocelyn realized somethings up w him and asked tessa to change into him and find out ?? idk just a thought noone spoil if anyone still watches this lmao
