Thank you for posting this, my grandfather is the bassist in this band and I never got to know him. It is so nice to be able to see what he was passionate about. I may not be able to talk to him, but videos like this keep his memory alive.
Mouldy Dick McCarthy as he was known. You must be so proud that your Grandfather was such a wonderful musician and played with this, one of the greatest New Orleans bands.
What a discovery!. Thank you so much for bringing this alive. 1965 was my first encounter with the Hall. I spent many hours listening to Big Jim.. He brought real happiness to the music.✌✌

This is from my youth (I was 20 years old) incredible pure jazz lot of feeling and love is streaming!! Love the drummer with the cigar (i still smoke them every day) Thanks for posting love it.
This wonderfully magnificent recording never ceases to give me enormous pleasure every time I watch it , which is often. The spontaneity and vibrance of the band is legendary. I am pleased to say I saw big Jim at preservation hall in 1976 and Kid thomas many times during that period. I always try to get back to the UK for the Period Sammy Rimington is on tour as I live in Portugal I don't get the chance to hear much live New Orleans music here.
Great Music which we would need more, especially in these days. Especially at every day. Thanks to Bill Sinclair and Ferdinand Blötz to keep this Video so it could be shown to everyone. Thanks to Norbert Susemihl to post it on UA-cam. Let's share it as often as possible.
Very similar to "Same old Soupbone" Kid Thomas Valentine and his Algiers Stompers by BBC for which no video exists. They had Louis Nelson on trombone, Manny Paul on sax, Charlie Hamilton piano, Joseph Butler sbs? Sammy Penn drums. The singer on drums is definitely the same and it is the same piece.

Thank you , thank you for this enjoyable video
I saw them in Preservation Hall, new Orleans on last year's eve 1973!!Great, really great!
Strictly old school 👍 i met Kid Thomas in London 1979 , he had a mouth full of gold teeth n was in his 80's n still playing
