- I could not believe #JapaneseTechnology in the area of Japan's #WasteManagement. This unique opportunity to visit the Shinagawa Incineration Plant was something I was really looking forward to because I always wondered what happens to garbage after it leaves our homes, and if there was one country that I'm sure had an efficient system in place for dealing with garbage, I knew it had to be #Japan! Join us on this interesting tour of discovery, energy, and garbage!

Welcome to my daily vlogs! TRAVEL. FOOD. COMEDY. SINGING. ANTS. LIFE.
I upload a new video every day at 7AM EST!
About Me:
My bio is pretty random: In short, I am a professional singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada who moved to Manila, Philippines which sorta became my Hollywood because my first UA-cam channel MIKEYBUSTOSVIDEOS grew popular due to Filipino comedy videos. Meanwhile, I'm also a big biology geek who is obsessed with ants, so I built an internationally operating ant business supported by another popular channel called ANTSCANADA, and well basically, today I travel and tour around the world doing what I love so I wanted to start this vlogging channel, in hopes to encourage you guys to follow your dreams no matter how random, by showing you what happened when I followed mine! You just never know where life will take you when you listen to the yearnings of your heart!
I am very impressed that when the Ministry invited you to Japan, they don't just bring you to those usual sightseeing places but also brought you to their waste management facility. This is truly a country that is environmentally responsible and know that urban living and huge cities with dense population really need to tackle with waste management! Their plan on showcasing Japan to your viewers are quite unique and well thought out! I am looking forward to seeing more as you explore Japan.
Right?! Like I said before we embarked on this epic journey, being taken around by the government of a country is truly a different thing. We saw this as well when we were invited by the governments of Sabah, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Guam, and Palau to vlog... Japan is a mind-blowing country on its own, but the guys who run it know all the coolest places! 😍 Thank you for joining us today! Means a lot to us!
My late husband was a journalist and you remind me of him. You explained things accurately like you are a reporter. I am absolutely amazed, is it because you are intelligent enough that you pick up the articles quickly and you are wide reader, or is it because you grew up in Canada and learnt how reporter/journalists explained or report their articles. I think you are most suited to be a reporter. Good job mate.
I would just wish he would continue vlogging about Japan since Mikey is influential...it would be a great public service to educate philippines what can be learned from Japan their ways their technologies...they are the most advanced in almost anything ...I watch NHK all the time and they are quite different people...no wonder they are a great nation despite lacking natural resources.
of all the other youtubers, for me, you mikey are one of those deserving youtubers to have a million audience or subscribers
I think he should just Vlog in Japan and show us all the technologies there that we can adapt to the country...any vloggers would want to take that challenge ? I'm sure you'll have a million subscribers
@@10OZDuster great idea💓💓💓
Wow! How modernized their equipment. It can even get electricity. They really make use of the garbage well. It's amazing. Can we borrow it and bring it to our country the process and their recycling system.
I just got back home from work and I've been treated like crap but watching Mikey in Japan makes me cheer up. Thanks Mikey
gulaman in sorry
I think it is super cool that both Japanese government officials speak Tagalog.
Wow, wow, wow!!! What an impressive garbage plant. I hope all countries can adapt to that system. I loved listening to the two Japanese government officials as well.
Thank you Mikey, RJ, Jeahh, and all! I was shocked (but laughing) at your joke about the turbine blades size...! Poor RJ, but he got you back a few mins later ("you're like one big garbage"). I just think it's so hilarious when you two rib on each other, like little brothers😅
Maybe a new project for you Mikey? #RecycleManilla Japanblog is very cool so far. good work :)
I agree... he should try and get Phillipinnes more involved with recycling
@@asylumental while it's far from miley's responsibility, he could make a change i reckon :-) go mikey, recycle push - oh crikey! Introduce re-use.
@@ljk8059 he definitely seems to be a very well known and respected figure of Phillipinnes
JAPAN IS THE BEST WHEN IT COME TO REDUCING GARBAGE. BY RECYCLING THEM I WISH PHILIPPINES WILL DO THE SAME TO SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT
Lulu Baker and the USA
em forty you read wrong. I want for USA
Pamela Raney nah both
Wow i am so shook about those two gentlemen are better fluent tagalog. But yeah kudos to them coz they lived longer here in the philippines. Yeah they should adapt the system here about those garbage.
RJ’s face at 21:07 and your laugh Mikey plus your explanation after 😂😂😂 awwww RJ fell in love with Japan.
That was one of my favorite parts too!
Even as a American, i believe we have a lot to learn from Japan. The way they implement plans is amazing and so efficient.
I agree. We do use the gas generated by the decomposing garbage in land fills but Japan is on a whole other level. Pretty efficient.
I’m a senior (over 65) and live in Millbury Massachusetts and we have an incinerator in our town. We get a lot of refuse from Boston. A number of years ago we were given a tour of the incinerator. It was a memorable tour and we were amazed at how little waste there was. The bonus our little town gets from the insinerator is we get a set amount of free tonage. Which means they take our waste and we don’t pay to dispose of it. Great deal. Love your channel.
That is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
You realize Mikey, that they are looking at you as a person that has influence, possibly even political. Which, is kinda kewl, because you could help educate Canaduans, Americans, the Philippines and virtually anywhere your popularity reaches. If this way of burning trash is beneficial for all countries, then it's an important message to share. Who knows, maybe Mikey, and RJ will become an elected officials who can help make positive changes for our environments? ❤🍎
ANG GALING!!! I've always been amazed with technology and how stuff works behind the scene (reason why I took computer science for college) and this whole tour is just an eye and mindgasm for me. I really hope the government of the Philippines will also solve these electricity, water and garbage problems with the help of this idea
It's Just crazy to see Japan's Tech it's so futuristic! They even have Water cannons for the fires! can't wait what they can do next to help the world and the environment!
Every country needs to learn from Japan.
Your videos are so informative and you’re always doing something new, the variety of videos you create is incredible. Keep up the awesome work! Ps. You need a show on animal planet...
Garbage is a complex problem to the world.. it seems like never ending problem.. but wow.. they turn garbage to generate electricity in a very thoughtful way.. amazing!! And operated by 75 workers only.. how efficient!! Thanks for sharing this open minded experience! I like this nerdy time! Hahaha.. Glad that RJ had opened his mind too for trying some of those exotic food!! Well done RJ!! 👏😂 Ants generate electricity to light up the entire antiverse??? Hmm...
Omg!! It's mind blowing. I'm speechless. At the end, u put smile on my face Mikey, love u long time 😊❤️
@Mikey and RJ, ... you both are the perfect medium to deliver the “good” that Japan is doing in waste management... Quite impressive.... Truthfully, not only are your videos entertaining, ... I learn so much from watching your vlogs... After this particular video, I am more aware and knowledgeable on the topic of waste management and I hunger to get more educated and do my share in my capacity to help care for my surroundings.Your explanation was thorough yet funny at times... very entertainingly educational. Kudos ! ... Japan couldn’t have picked better ambassadors.
Incidentally, ...
my apologies, Mikey, ... but much as I’m laughing each and every time - I can’t help but wonder how that “tongue sticking biz” on a wet towel started...
These Japanese just became more exciting! I expected them to showcase everything touristy things about Japan. Showing you how much they care about environment is very classy of them. I can't wait to visit Japan!
Wow! Really blows my mind! They make use everything so well and nothing's wasted even from their garbage. Their technology is always on top, no wonder Japan is one of the most progressive country in the whole world.
Seems to me, with the river and the amount of surface area the new house will have, solar panels could help a lot.
I've wondered about solar power in the Philipines! I'm not sure I have seen wind turbines in Mikey & RJ's travels around the country. I hadn't been paying attention. I was so impressed to see wind turbines in my mother's country...the Dominican Republic.... country has come a long way and I am ecstatic to see all the collaborations they have going on with the Asian and Middle Eastern countries. It is great to see developing countries actually developing!
I wish ganyan din sa pinas.your vlog is very educational mikey. God bless you and rj.
So INTERESTING!!! Thanks for sharing unusual and thought provoking areas of Japan. This has been SO FUN!!!
Interesting fact: Canada gets most of it's electricity from falling water, hydro-electric plants. That is why in Canada they call the electric bill "The Hydro Bill"
Ohhhhh NO WONDER!!!! Now it all makes sense!!! InterestING!!!
Hi, again we have that plant also here in Osaka and mind you that is now is a tourist spot here, I'm so glad that you introduce this kind of process in your vlog 👌👏👏👏thank you🙇
Your country blows my mind! 🤯🤯🤯
Very highly 👏 applause for the innovation. Thanks for the enlightenment.
So inspirational and such a great example. An island country that has taken a real major problem and innovated there way out with great solutions.
I think Singapore have that facility too.
Wow! I hope the Philippines will implement the same system.
Lots of love mabuhaysquad, ang sasarap ng mga pgkain sa japan grabe.
Mr Ishikawa looks like a lot like my tito
The world has so much to learn from Japan!
Funny thing is I’m in Japan and I did not know what they do with they’re garbage, I thought it was like any other place in the world
Are you are transplant or were you born there
This is why I love Japan!! They truly have a great deal of large society living, figured out.
Living in the USA, land seems so endless, that the people unfortunately just dump everything into a landfill. Like you said relying on fossil fuels. 😢
Mikey, you could speak for your city after experiencing this grand tour and gaining all of this knowledge. Perhaps you can be the force behind Philippians obtaining their own burning facilities. You have your city’s popularity in your hands.
You have a great deal of passion and enthusiasm behind you, with grand positivity. Anything is possible!!
💕💗💕
"Nerding" time😍 and really amusing/amazing👌.
this has been greatly educational! thanks mikey.
i’m from Singapore and we also use a mix of landfill and incineration. landfills which are full is used to create new land.
In Vienna, Austria they are burning residual waste for heating and cooling (!) homes, office buildings, hospitals and so on. And after burning the waste they extract metals from the cinder for recycling. I know of at least one plant in Germany where they even use the exhaust (contains SO2) to produce high quality gypsum.
Thank you Mickey and RJ for the knowledge you shared with us about Japan. It was and has been very informative I miss Ligaya very much but do enjoy all your travels and share in your food consumption enjoy your trip and get back home to Ligaya soon

Galing mong mag explain talaga, Mikey.
Pretty cool plant. I know we do have land fills here in the U.S. that gather and use the gas that is produced from decomposing trash but Japan's plants take it to a whole other level. Very efficient.
Love the Japanese videos. Learn a lot just watching!!! Yes I knew they burn garbage...lol. Glad your having a great time. Thank you for sharing Mikey!!! Keep up the great and amazing work Mikey!! Love you and your channel!!! That's funny RJ didn't want to offend them so he ate food he normally wouldn't. Way to go RJ 😊😉!!!

Ok, the moment is now. *I love garbage!* (garbage being properly treated, that is!)
What a mind-blowing garbage incinerator tour! Now i also wonder how Taiwan do it. But we’ve been separating garbage for a long time already. Great job Mikey for explaining well to Mabuhay Squad.
Thanks for clarifying the steam turbine, amazing operation
That 75pax employees are multi-tasking.. 🤗
THANK YOU FOR SHARING MIKEY YOU'RE SO .SMART EXPLAINING EVERYTHING. TAKE CARE
Wow that's amazing garbage management..thank u for that informative disposal... hope it inspire everybody to be more thoughtful in using things.
i love how you explain things simply ❤️
OMFG TOTALLY MIND BLOWING!!! So insightful!! Need that in Indonesia
Enjoy you day/night Mabuhay Squad! 😎
I learned about garbage when I was in 5th grade and I and was extremely surprised you knew so little
They have an incinerator in Detroit Michigan (USA) that was just recently shut down. From what I’ve heard it did not filter the toxins out adequately, we also have a higher rate of asthma in children and people who live and grow up here more so than anywhere else in the state. A lot of people in the community think the incinerator was harmful to public health so good thing it was shut down.
Japan is really well organized and efficient! I hope the other countries will learn from them in the future 😊 it's so funny how you and RJ have your little jokes and funny moments, just like brothers 😂😂
Methane from rotten plant waste from garbage dumps is now collected and added to natural gas to help offset fracking and waste.
such a great thing they are doing
This vlog is interesting and educational....love it
This one was important and I felt inclined to share it.
GarbagePh in cooperation with The Apple Project 😀😀
Renewable energy. 👍
JAPAN IS AMAZIIIIIIIIING! Hope to visit japan soon. Fingers crossed!
How I wish Philippines can adapt this process too, some areas in the PH still don't have electricity. :( Japan is really amazing!
LOVED this video!! It was educational, fascinating, and funny! Especially when you guys were back in the van after lunch...and you laughed at RJ. That was funny?
Thanks for a very educational vlog, even the challenge for the next generation young people to think of ways to recycle and utilized garbage for reusable energy.from Toronto.
Cool part of your Japanese journey!
😁 Japan has it sorted!! OMG Mikey I guess you haven’t seen Toy Story 3?? This is such a great process. I know that in Aus we do landfill, not sure if we incinerate too. Amazing!
Japan’s civilization if you study about that it’s awesome the fact about that is that they have like a slogan “Japanese in culture western in technology” something like that
i hope that can be done in our country , Phils
Japan is truly mind-blowing! Super cool of the Japanese government officials for knowing how to speak Filipino.
Wow WOW i am loving JAPAN 🤓🤓🤓😍😍😍
Great place love to visit
It's such an amazing trip for you guys. And like you said this video, their recycling processing is impressive!
LoL RJ has a MUCH smaller turbine blade than Mikey!!!
Japan also testing the heavy rock concert or the big gym that creates waves or pedalling cycles that can move turvines to generates electricity
WHAT???!!!! REALLY???!!! Japan would think of such brilliant innovation! OMG!
@@MikeyBustosVLOGS Yesssssss
This tour is very educational. Japan is very reliant and innovative. Filipino scientists are neglected and forgotten in our country. Politicians are not interested on them because they don't get money from it initially.
こちらこそとっても感謝しています🙇ありがとうございます🙇same here much appreciation to you 🙇, congratulations🎉🎉🎉thank you very much 🙇
Very Educational 📚
Wow very nice and relevant content! 👍🏼 great job! waste management has been an issue for the longest time. although we implemented waste segregation technique but many still do not practice it.
Well, in Philippines. I remember my family dug a pit, threw anything (rubbish & fallen leaves) & when it's full, they burned it. My childhood.
So very informative vlog u have here!i have learned so much about our world and garbage... 👍for that, ❤it!keep it up😊
Thanks for watching! Means a lot to us!
wow a video uploaded on april 1st that does not contain an april fools joke, that's really refreshing thank you! after 50 videos from everybody thinking they're being funny on april 1st it getting kind of tiresome
THIS Is why I like JAPAN
Wow wow
Omg... honestly I'm dieing right now, the tongue lick on the hand towel when you're in the very very proper and high class setting with those important people...omg, totally something I would do..
Cheeky cheeky
amazing japan
I miss Ligaya as if she was my pet! When I have travelled, I have tried to enjoy my trip but my mind was always on my animals. Now I'm not travelling like before because I don't have the support system I once had. I miss travelling but I'll have to get over it until I can come up with something.
We must have this in the Philippines. There are many talented and skillful Filipinos, we can do it if we all cooperate. Thanks for showing this video Mikey.
Good morning everyone.
Fascinating! I love the renewable heating energy they are creating. Burning fossil fuels is so detrimental to the earth as there is a limited supply (and it surely contributes to war ,and accompanying greed). We had a garbage museum here but due to lack of funding and public non interest ,sadly it closed. Did you turn off the lights for the 8:30p.m. hour the other day? You probably figured out that I did ☺. Doing our best for our (mother) Earth is crucial to our survival, as a species (and all other animal /plant species). Future generations depend on us to get the ball rolling in the right direction. This vlog was eye opening and very interesting! Thanks for sharing with us!
Coal burning plants here in the States, there are several in my vicinity along the Ohio River, have exhaust 'scrubbers' too, so no toxic fumes are emitted into the Earths' atmosphere.
Love your videos i wish I could have as much fun as you lol
It would be so much better for our world environment if all countries used Japan's technology to get rid of their garbage. How amazing!
Philippines and specially China can really learn a thing or two from the Japanese... so efficient and disciplined! 👏👏👏
So efficient! Wow. It is amazing. Hello Mikey and RJ. Special hello to your guide. Ligaya, I miss her. 😍!
Mikey you are awesome and glad that you have RJ that's quiet...lol 😁😀😆👏👏👏🇵🇭❤
