I like how you actually did your full homework on this, presenting in great detail what the game is about. From the history, breezing through the unique mechanics and even using wikipedia to explain the genre. Really good for making a concious purchase!
Let me put it this way Entropy Effect was able to make someone like me, a guy who wasn't super into Hades, fall in love with the game and pour in........Jesus, 140 hours into the game Honestly, at the absolute worst, this game is inoffensive, but at the best, it's pretty up there with my personal rankings of 2D action games (only gane that can rival it is Metroid Dread)
I think the devs struck gold on the combat system, but the current build of the game is lacking in content. Even the layouts of each level could be more varied. With that said, when the game launches next year they have the chance to release something special if they can just add more conent to the game and make the runs more varied.
A lot of comments here are hung up about you being too focused on the fact the game isn't a metroidvania. Even if I agree that it was a little long-winded, it was pretty important thing to talk about when the game previously advertised itself as such, and it important in a review for any would-be buyer who may purchase the game on the merits that it is a metroidvania. The rest of your review is spot-on. As someone who's spent 60+ hours on the game as of recent, you hit the nail on the head on all of the games strengths and weaknesses. You're also really well informed about this game's relationship to the rest of the blazblue series, which is both something really important to cover for this game and also not a lot of other reviews care to talk about. I'll definitely show this review to anyone who's interested in the game before it officially launches, and I'm interested what you have to say when it does.
Idk why everyone’s complaining about the information you went over. I liked it. I think it’s a crucial piece of information to know where the developer is coming from. I also have seen Reddit posts asking whether this is a metrovania. Which clearly implies that there is a confusion on the topic. It would just be another typical brainless review if none of these were mentioned. Keep doing what you’re doing.
I just came here to say that you really need to work on the objective of your videos man, I had to skip around quite a lot throughout your video as you drifted from topic here and there. Personally, I couldn't care less what the backstory of the company is, how similar it is to previous titles, or whether or not this is actually a metroidvania game (you mentioned this WAY too much, we really don't care). About HALF of the 7 minute 31 second video was nonsensical rambling, I don't have the game so I was just looking for something that might interest me about the game. Through the tedium I learned the game has great combat... so thanks I guess.
Good god, you didnt need to go on for half the video about how this game ISNT a metroidvania. All you had to do was say its not really a metroidvania and moved on.
You spent half the review talking about how it isn't a metroidvania. Just get straight to the point. Also, stop with the robotic cuts in the review. There is no need to chop out the breathing and natural causes as it makes the review sound like some chat robot stuff.
