I really, REALLY appreciate you keeping this review under 5 minutes. a lot of work goes in to making long in depth videos and there is definitely a place for them on youtube... having that said, when it comes to reviews, you should be able to explain the essence of what a game brings to the table in under 10 minutes, without spoiling every aspect of the game.

Stranger of Paradise was my game of the year in 2022. Sure the loot was kinda overwhelming but I got rid of the stuff that didn't matter. Everything was a blast and the Breaker Class is just the greatest for me.

Id love a zombie apocalypse themed version of this kind of game

imo boneraiser minions is easily the best game in this genre. really mixes things up. addictive as hell. and has a banger OST.

WTF is a "harbringer"?

Not gonna lie, you're playing hakumen wrong. Yeah he's clunkier than average, but he's nowhere near bad. Best burst damage and defense in the game. Also, I've never picked up a bad potential for him.

I played it for the memes.

My guess is that the playable characters were the other three that shows up in the credits, being Getsu Rando, Getsu Araya and Getsu Komei. For some reason, Araya and Komei are included in the credits alongside the V.As but does not show up in-game at all. Both the designs are included in the Digital Artbook that comes with the Deluxe edition and let me tell you: Both are awesome.

Cool video. I enjoy the game but I ended up dropping it because you are bombarded with WAY too much loot that it's overwhelming. The loot filter system isn't too straightforward either before the endgame.

I like how you actually did your full homework on this, presenting in great detail what the game is about. From the history, breezing through the unique mechanics and even using wikipedia to explain the genre. Really good for making a concious purchase!

Idk why everyone’s complaining about the information you went over. I liked it. I think it’s a crucial piece of information to know where the developer is coming from. I also have seen Reddit posts asking whether this is a metrovania. Which clearly implies that there is a confusion on the topic. It would just be another typical brainless review if none of these were mentioned. Keep doing what you’re doing.

I just came here to say that you really need to work on the objective of your videos man, I had to skip around quite a lot throughout your video as you drifted from topic here and there. Personally, I couldn't care less what the backstory of the company is, how similar it is to previous titles, or whether or not this is actually a metroidvania game (you mentioned this WAY too much, we really don't care). About HALF of the 7 minute 31 second video was nonsensical rambling, I don't have the game so I was just looking for something that might interest me about the game. Through the tedium I learned the game has great combat... so thanks I guess.

Valkyria Chronicles is such a classic. I remember trading in a bunch of games just to get it from gamestop back in 2008. There really wasn't another game like it at the time. I really hope one day they rerelease 2 and someday localize 3. The series definitely deserves more love.

It is a TRAVESTY that Square didn't immediately hire Team Ninja to do the combat systems for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Final Fantasy 16. 16 combat system was pure garbage. Stranger in Paradise is the ONLY good modern Final Fantasy, the best since 9 IMO

A lot of comments here are hung up about you being too focused on the fact the game isn't a metroidvania. Even if I agree that it was a little long-winded, it was pretty important thing to talk about when the game previously advertised itself as such, and it important in a review for any would-be buyer who may purchase the game on the merits that it is a metroidvania. The rest of your review is spot-on. As someone who's spent 60+ hours on the game as of recent, you hit the nail on the head on all of the games strengths and weaknesses. You're also really well informed about this game's relationship to the rest of the blazblue series, which is both something really important to cover for this game and also not a lot of other reviews care to talk about. I'll definitely show this review to anyone who's interested in the game before it officially launches, and I'm interested what you have to say when it does.

What's the point of game hub tournaments?

Strongly agree with all these comments. Also the secret hunting didn't feel good. The best thing you could find was a machine spirit blessing, but they were mostly either boring weapon strength+1 or they were the shotgun bouncy pellets which just kills you. I was constantly getting into the borderline out of bounds spots and finding no secrets, then ending the level with many missing secrets. Wall checking is not a well aged mechanic nor appropriate for the setting.

was very excited for boltgun but after 2 levels i got bored quite fast. you mentioned all the reasons. having to backtrack cause i got confused all the time, find key go diff room =boring, and no music of any energy level. good to kill an 1 or 2 but this game could have had more.

Good god, you didnt need to go on for half the video about how this game ISNT a metroidvania. All you had to do was say its not really a metroidvania and moved on.

Good review, I like the information but would say you come off sounding dry, tone and pace of talking is overly consistent for me.

You spent half your review reading from a wiki on what makes a game a Metroidvania I can see why you only have 58 subs all you did was guarantee I'll never waste time on your 'reviews' again. You sound like an entitled child crying about something wow it's a tag get over it and move on with the actual game already.

This game was worth 3 or 4 times its purchase price. Absolutely worth it in every sense of the word.

You spent half the review talking about how it isn't a metroidvania. Just get straight to the point. Also, stop with the robotic cuts in the review. There is no need to chop out the breathing and natural causes as it makes the review sound like some chat robot stuff.
