    We are based in North Wales and manage around 150 colonies of bees, plus nucleus colonies.
    We produce Great Taste Award winning honey and sell nucleus colonies to members of the public.
    Our 6 frame overwintered nucleus colonies sell out very fast every year so early ordering is advisable.

    We supply F1 Mated Buckfast and Jolanta Queens throughout the season. The UK Mated Jolanta Queens are reared using genetics used by the UK's biggest bee farmer - Murray McGregor - and are not available to general public, except through resellers like us! Check out our queens page on our website.

    A Bob Binnie tip for when you ARE looking for the queen is to start at the far end. Loosen the frames first then start on the frame furthest from you. Queens like the dark so by pulling up the frame furthest away, she's more likely to be facing you as the frame reaches your eyeline. When you're working closest frame and then away from you, she can often zip around the back of the next frame that you're going to pull as you've just made a light filled space. I hope that made sense written down...

    Your bees must not propolize their frames down like mine. It takes me 5 minutes just to pry up the first frame sometimes! lol

      The beauty of Buckfast! Pretty much zero propolis

      @@BlackMountainHoney Surprised by this. I have Buckfast queens and propolis is a real problem, maybe because the forest close to the apiary is mainly pine with lots of resin?

      @@christopherhindle1174 Are they first gen buckfast? As they regress they get stickier! But defo dependant on location as well. I have one apiary with some local bees that are yet to get out of the brood box and it would take me at least 20 mins to depropolise them! Crazy sticky

    Hi I was going to ask you to do a video like this to see how long it takes to do a inspection👌👌. Can you do a follow-up 2nd vid or something about how many hives you can go through a day and one person can manage a week sort of thing. And how many do you have?? A sort of commercial side of thing Thanks 👍

    Hi, hope you can help as it’s bothering me, iv just got bees and have a queen cell due to hatch next week, I haven’t seen a single honey bee around my hive area, iv been looking nothing on the chestnut tree none on any of the flowers, do honey bee free areas exist ???? And will my virgin fail to mate ??

    • @joshuasprinkle7730
      @joshuasprinkle7730 2 роки тому +1

      That is a possibility, and so you should have in your mind to order a new queen in the worst case scenario. Typically I would say, mating happens within 1-3 miles of the hive, however, Queen bees have been known to fly as far as six miles away from their hive to mate. You obviously know your climate better than anyone, and I would say don't be discouraged if there aren't any in your immediate neighborhood, but certainly look into new queens. Also consider reaching out to your local beekeepers association for information about your locality as an easy first step. Hope that helps!

      You won’t see bees in the immediate vicinity. They leave the hive orient and go. I’ve got 4 hives at the top of my garden and when sitting in other areas you wouldn’t know they are there. Don’t expect to see any of your bees in the garden. They forage quite a distance.
