Thanks for these videos. I tried last year (first year) and the Queen died from a virus in the late fall. Your nuc videos have been a great help with timing treatments and feeding..life is a little different in the mid south (I’m in central Arkansas) vs where other bee videos are shot. Have 2 nuc/long hives this year. Have already had 13 inches of rain this July so you videos are spot on for me.
Squeezing that pollen goop makes me think a cookie press would work better. Those work more like calk guns and might be quicker and easier to work with. Just a thought. Thanks for the great video series!
Pollen patty slurry application ideas....Refillable container that fits in a large calk gun or PVC pipe that hooks onto an air compressor to fill farm tires with leak stop????
Amazon sells empty caulk tubes that are easy to fill with pollen sub. Use a caulking gun to apply to the tops of the frames. Electric caulk guns work the best but any caulk gun works.
Have swarms all the time. But partly because of a lack of time, to work them at least each week. Had last week a very big swarm, luckily they are in my African hive... thriving.
I was thinking of an old grease gun for a 5 gallon bucket... It had a hand pump and a hose with the grease fitting... take off the fitting and it just might do the trick.🥸
Hey Kamon!! Wow, that colony looks really good!! They are growing and expanding quite nicely! Before we know it will be time to start prepping up for winter, a lot of people already are. Looking good Kamon :) keep the video coming 🤙😎😁🐝
Here in Midlands SC we have goldenrod blooming already. I'm not sure if I should be concerned about that or not, but it's all down the roads, not just a little bit. I just don't understand why it's so early.
A genuine caulking gun gives you the option of buying many types of tips to apply the food in thin or thick strips, or narrow or wide strips. You'd need to wash the barrel and tip immediately after use so they don't rust but surely would get the job done if you're mixing your own substitute in bulk. Paint stores or vendors who specialize in weatherstripping/weatherproofing supplies will have the "bulk" caulking gun which will hold at least a quart
Hey kamon have you ever seen a jerky gun? They are similar to a caulk gun but with a refillable chamber and designed to push raw ground beef which I would assume is a similar consistency to pollen patty
Im not a degreed engineer but I am thinking that a refillable caulk gun tube- beef jerky squirt gun may be what you’re looking for to apply the semiliquid pollen patty.
Hello are you still feeding them watered down sugar water during the summer? I have went through one container of shb bait will post as the summer ends.
The last time I put Pattie’s on I broke the complete patty up into Quarter size pieces an it was gone in a little over two days . That is the fastest I have ever saw a patty get eaten up . I got the idea from you cutting your up into strips. Kamon where do you get Guardian jackets from ??. Thanks
Guardian bee apparel is the company that sells those. They are a little thin which makes them not as durable but they are better at letting cool air thru
For the pollen I got big refillable caulk tubes off amazon and have used them. I got the idea from the keeper hive vedios, the tube is sort of a pain to fill but it works great. this series has been great. what do you think of the bettle traps, I have not seen any dead in my traps yet how are they to work. Hope u and Lorel have a blessed weekend.
Thanks Frances! The traps so far seem to be good but I am pretty sure they die outside of the traps as the natural action of the product takes time to work in the beetles gut

Buy a jerky cannon for applying the pollen substitute. Large caulk gun like device that woukd be perfect for laying down nice strips of that pollen
This is exactly what I was going to suggest, the wide tip on my jerky cannon would be about the same width as the top of a frame

Thanks for the great video series!
You can also get empty, refillable caulk tubes.
FYI To make the smoker not leak you can place heat resistant aluminum tape on the leak, or solder a piece of tin on the leak.
You are the best most helpful beekeeper on the internet Kaymon! Thank you my dear and thank you to your sweet beautiful wife Laurel
Thanks to you Kaman and Laurel, I really appreciate and enjoy your content and your knowledge! Keep buzzin!

Thanks for the great series. I’ve learned soo much. I’m thinking on the “pollen paste” application challenge.

Absolutely love these videos. Such great content and information! Thank you!
Use a “mortar repointing gun” it’s like a silicone or chalking gun.
You forgot to mention another advantage of (timely) splitting: it prevents swarming.
I love the grout bag delivery system.. Maybe a larger caulk gun devise can be created
I was thinking of an old grease gun for a 5 gallon bucket... It had a hand pump and a hose with the grease fitting... take off the fitting and it just might do the trick.🥸
I'd say pack pollen like caulk. I love this Kamon.

Hey kamon, I like the idea of a large calking gun, but better still, I think to make it easier is get someone else to do it.😊
Get a beef jerky caulk gun! I bet it would be great!

Great follow along 👍 Thanks 😊
@kamonreynolds If we have supers on, should we still inspect the bottom brood boxes? I’m in Northern Indiana and this is my 2nd summer.

Jerky gun would work. Or you should be able to find empty/new caulk tubes that you could fill and reuse.
The bees can eat that in 2 days so do you need to add more after the 2 days
I try to give my nucs drawn comb and that helps a lot.
I love the Pastry Bag to apply Protein supplement! Thanks.
I’m going to add shenanigans to my spending plan now!
Hey kamon have you ever seen a jerky gun? They are similar to a caulk gun but with a refillable chamber and designed to push raw ground beef which I would assume is a similar consistency to pollen patty
Loving this series!
That sentimental smoker. lol. Needs some southern engineering to fix that backfire burp. Thanks for another cool video.

I like this but going to try my sausage stuffer looks like a large caulking gun
Hello are you still feeding them watered down sugar water during the summer? I have went through one container of shb bait will post as the summer ends.
Totally. I like food on the edge of excess in our summer dearth.
That first queen is laying like it’s April. Did you forget to tell her the summer solace has come and gone?
You ought to know Don Queens don't listen to drones anyways!
wow, how do I make this pollen spread ? I want to give some to my new colonies
I don’t like gloves, but those look nice!
You couldn,t be doing that in Spain. Our black bee (apis mellifera iberiensis) is very agressive 😂
They make a device to squeeze out jerky that would work
Several bees in the nuc have k wing
Love your videos! I live in ky and my hive is queenless. Is it too late to add a new queen?
How long will the home made pollen sub last ? (refrigerated)
Is that a new recipe? They jumped on that like flies on a cow paddy lol
I bought a pair of gloves like you are wearing and getting stung on top of hand and fingers. Any comment on them?
Do you have a recipe for what you are feeding the bees?
Take the smoker to a local light welder.
@kamonreynolds What is the pollen patty / slurry recipe please?
Yes add me recipe please
Reusable caulking tube and a caulk gun !
are you still making your pollen pattie
HI Kamon love the gloves are they available online.

Where did you get your gloves?
how about a jerky stuffing unit?

Your smoker sure is smoking from the wrong places!
Kamon it’s not hard to beat a Dadant smoker , it’s impossible.
Can't argue with that
I do the same i dont like takijg fall honey
