I feel like I have already made at least 5 of them mistakes 🤦‍♀️ without even realising! And that’s why I love your videos. I now see 5 things I can chance to make my bee keeping Better! Thanks Lawrence.

Thanks for sharing! As a hobbyist with a full-time day job, out apiaries were a huge time suck for me especially when feeding. Personally, I never recommend out apiaries for beginners if they have the option to keep them at home.

So glad that Roy Kent is providing such good advice now that he’s retired from football.

Yea... on my first year (2020) I faceplanted HARD... I had tons of knowledge, but had never had to apply it (and there were no mentors available). Lost my 6 hives to repeated swarming. Odd thing is the realization of where I failed just dawned on my during the following winter.
Looked up my UA-cam videos and yea... Too many bees in the hives. Started over last year with 4 hives, kept up with the bees and at the end of the season I had 1 more hive than I started with, AND had a 10-12 gallon honey crop. And as of early March 2022 they're all alive :D

One of your most helpful videos for me. I've found thousands of videos on the web for any issue in beekeeping. But i think this one this is unique and especially helpful for me after a very slow start (2 hives) and 18 months into keeping bees. The tips are very timely as I plan for this coming season.

You must be born to deal and enjoy with bees, nothing else matter.👍

Yeah, he never did inaf hand cranking. I can tell he has a virgin shoulder. This yung generation wants it now.. but in beekeeping everything takes two years.
But you can see it in his eyes.. he's been stung.. He's here to stay with it...

As you have invested so heavily in poly, why would you go to wooden boxes? Are you finding poly doesn't age well?

Mainly to do with cost. The 2nds cedar boxes just havent increased that much in price and will last just as long if not a bit longer than poly. The price of poly is going bonkers and has no signs of stopping. Cedar is also quite a bit more durable. I still think the bees much prefer the poly though and take cost out of the equation, that would be my preference.

I definitely think you should include a clip of a face sting in each video. I remember getting one on the lip and the stick I took at work for the next week.

Great advice. A different question, you mentioned on the last Q and A you have had an Air source heat pump fitted for your home, I’m looking at getting one, are they any good? we have underfloor heating which is supposed to be the best for a heat pump. And rough cost per month to run? How many Kw’s per month? We have 4kw solar panels and just purchased another 5kw of solar, so will have lots of power to help run it.
