The funniest thing happened when I started playing Fallout 1 again recently when it comes to random encounters. I just created my character and left the cave to Vault 13, I headed for shady sands entering the next grid on the map next to Vault 13 getting a random encounter. I thought it was going to be a radscorpion attack but then I saw a tipped over truck. Confused I looked around and found 8000+ caps in a crate. I had 8000 caps in less 10 seconds of exploring the wastes.
Sad thing about Area 51: Going off of a map of Nevada, it's surprisingly close to Nellis AFB. Meaning that if they'd been able to make the game map for the Mojave just a LITTLE bit bigger, we could've had it in Fallout: New Vegas. Funnily enough, if you can remember where those aliens can be found, it'd basically be right on the opposite side of the mountains they parked their ship on.
@Smoothie Bat Alcatraz I hate to rain on your parade man but a majority of the writers for Fallout: New Vegas have left Obsidian and sadly Bethesda will likely never pursue the idea of “Fallout New Vegas 2” and honestly I don’t believe there’s a need for a sequel to New Vegas. It’s funny to think about the fact that Obsidian literally only had 18 months to make New Vegas and they made the best fucking entry in the series since Fallout 2 and contributed more to the series with one comically shoddily made game cobbled together in a year and some change than Bethesda ever did to contribute to the series ever since they acquired the rights to the Fallout IP way back in 2007 after Interplay went bankrupt and sold it off to Bethesda.
Actually, way more likely to happen when aiming at the head (eyes - not so much). There's a low percent chance of instant death, no matter what HP does the enemy has. Also, it's also possible to get a 4x damage multiplier - again, pretty rare.
There are a whole bunch of random encounters you can only get with having a maxed out luck skill in both Fallout 1 & 2. They are pretty zany, such as the Guardian Forever one that takes you back in time to your vault where you can get a unique weapon, the whale that apparently fell from the sky, and a group of brotherhood knights that sing Monty Python songs from The Quest for the Holy Grail!

Fun fact:There is a reason for the giant dinosaur track easter egg, as well as possibly the gardian of tomorow one in FO 2. According to a conference with Timothy cain, very early in devellopement the plot of Fallout was to feature extensive time travel and even dinosaurs. It was of course changed very early in devellopement but its possible the enconter was kept as an easter egg. Mantises existed in FO1 and 2 before New vegas, yeah.

I'm pretty sure the giant footprint is a reference to Godzilla, which is usually said to be created by nuclear testing in the Pacific. I consider the tardis encounter Canon. The telephone sign is on the right door, which the only time the Tardis has ever had the sign on the right is only in a few second doctor episodes in 1966. That confirms its the second doctor you meet and since it was before the time war, Tardis' had the power to safely travel across parallel universes.
For fun, can we get an episode on the somewhat silly quest in Fallout 2, in Broken Hills, wherein through few errands and a treasure hunt, we can find that bottle caps have been replaced with a minted currency? And for plot, can we get an episode on the Secret Vault and Vault 0 (also I think vault 0 was recycled into Big MT) Now that you've completed Fallout 1, and read more about FEV, I'd like to posit that in Fallout 4, FEV was the reason they wanted uncorrupted, non-inbred DNA, not just for gen 3 synths, but for FEV experimentation (likely on clones via gen 3 synths). IIRC, not all gen 3 synths have the same DNA, which would imply that Shaun wasn't actually used as the basis for all gen 3 synths.
Also: I'd still love an episode on the Sierra Army Depot, and its potential companion. I find that companion, and vault 0, are much more likely suspects for causing the great war than PAM. Alternatively, it may have happened in part because of Canadian rebels, as you can learn in the depot that there were some armed uprisings. This would help explain how 4 nukes got all the way from the Bering Strait to the east coast without being stopped at Cheyenne Mountain. (Vault 0 was located in Cheyenne Mountain as well, which could also be an explanation for how it failed to stop those 4 nukes.)
Hey, Oxy! How about making special episode about geography of Fallout?) I mean - comparing in-game map with real world's? It's hard to believe, that almost no-one have done it, cause it's may be fun and educating.😉
The dinosaur footprint is probably a reference to jurassic park when they encounter the T-rex they say, "Don't move! He can't see you, if you don't move." Hence the stealthboy.
It's interesting to note that Tycho actually has some unique dialogue if he's present when you find the giant footprint, if you ask him for advice. Tycho has some interesting commentary if you ask for his opinion at the Mariposa base, the Glow, or Necropolis.
I think i found the four riders of apocalypse once... And i did find the nuka cola truck and a nuka cola delivery cyclist... On the side note, i found that BB gun Red Rocket to be very usefull even for my end game. I blasted my way through the military base with it - and i didn't know you could use more than 1 companion then, so i was playing solo from start to finish... Eventually i found that enemies actually started avoiding me once the battles started... Weird...
The portrait of Elvis is probably linked to the joke that Elvis was an alien and did not die, but "went home" from Men in Black... The Red Rider LE BB Gun does AN INSANE amount of critical damage. And it has nearly 100% chance to score a critical. So it is a VERY good midgame weapon :) The fisherman is either a reference to "Moby Dick" or "The Old Man and The Sea".
There is a perk that can extend the world map... but there's nothing there. Thanks for doing this series Oxhorn. Just got done watching the whole lot. I have played this game several times over the years but it's been great to hear your take on it and cover some of the lore I was unaware of.
The brahmin herd is probably a reference to the cow level from Diablo 2. Diablo 1 had a rumored cow level, but was admitted to be a fake. Also Bambi vs Godzilla.
The idea that there was cow level in Diablo (1996) was actually an urban myth, even if it was a popular rumor in the realm of PC gaming. Blizzard added a cow level in Diablo 2 (2000) due to their relative amusement with the urban myth.
I can explain the portrait of Elvis. During a scene in the movie Men In Black, released in 1997, starring Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith, the two agents, K and J respectively, find themselves in a race against the clock and taking an express tunnel to reach their destination. With a press of a button, the car they're riding in transforms into a physics-defying monster that can drive on the walls and ceiling of the tunnel to circumvent a massive traffic jam. J is struggling with gravity, having obviously not buckled his seat belt, whilst K casually starts jamming out to an eight-track tape of Elvis. J question's his partners taste in music by asking, "You do know Elvis is dead, right?" Agent K responds by saying, "No, Elvis is not dead. He just went home." This implies that Elvis was an alien creature living on Earth disguised as a human being, which shouldn't be much of a surprise considering that the movie, as well as its sequels, implies that many Earth celebrities and political figures are actually disguised aliens. Fallout was released in October of 1997, only a few months after Men In Black. ua-cam.com/video/nA8ipXtzHrY/v-deo.html

Vault Dweller: “ is this another cool random event with amazing loot?” Patrick: “No this is Patrick” (I know someone already made this joke but I couldn’t resist)
From the Cd version of the game. I had a saved game, found the nuka cola truck and then just a few days later had the mutants overrun vault 13. Had to load a game way back and didnt find the Truck again, and missed out on all the caps. There were so many caps took me a few minutes to move all the caps 999 at a time as that was the max you could move.
"...a great way to find Shady Sands if you haven't already." How the fuck is that even possible? Shady Sands is automatically on your map, and literally a few squares away from Vault 13. Also, i just finished a playthrough of the game and didn't get a single one of these random encounters.
The funniest thing happened when I started playing Fallout 1 again recently when it comes to random encounters. I just created my character and left the cave to Vault 13, I headed for shady sands entering the next grid on the map next to Vault 13 getting a random encounter. Yeah, there's a quest reference in f2 to that encounter
The amount of caps you find near the truck is dependent on your luck value could be as high as 10500+ caps with luck 10 or a lot less with low luck
I got this one too! Best random encounter for early game hands down haha
Almost like cheating... I would reload! 😁
I found that pretty late in the game when I had like 50k caps.
The alien's picture of elvis:
Elvis didn't die, he went home. -MIB
Clean Cut Chaos he was carrying a picture of his dad and he came to earth looking for him.
FIB: Stay right there!!
Elvis was known as the king, so they may have mistaken him as leader of earth and were using the picture to look for him.
But the movie was made after the game
True MIB was made after, but I think the Elvis was an alien thing had been around long before then. I may be mistaken though.

Now that you've completed Fallout 1, and read more about FEV, I'd like to posit that in Fallout 4, FEV was the reason they wanted uncorrupted, non-inbred DNA, not just for gen 3 synths, but for FEV experimentation (likely on clones via gen 3 synths).
(Vault 0 was located in Cheyenne Mountain as well, which could also be an explanation for how it failed to stop those 4 nukes.)
great series takes me back to my teenage years when it was new and I played it I had forgotten a lot of it thanks so much!!!
1:09 "Moo, I say" needs to be a t-shirt. Take my caps, Ox.
Hey, Oxy! How about making special episode about geography of Fallout?) I mean - comparing in-game map with real world's? It's hard to believe, that almost no-one have done it, cause it's may be fun and educating.😉
Вася Пипетка this is a great idea
Colin Edmunds I really hope so. =-]
Вася Пипетка I saw someone did a video tour series of Fallout NV locations. That was really cool.
The dinosaur footprint is probably a reference to jurassic park when they encounter the T-rex they say, "Don't move! He can't see you, if you don't move."
Hence the stealthboy.
It's interesting to note that Tycho actually has some unique dialogue if he's present when you find the giant footprint, if you ask him for advice. Tycho has some interesting commentary if you ask for his opinion at the Mariposa base, the Glow, or Necropolis.
Rain + Tea + Oxhorn Video = Perfect Night
I think i found the four riders of apocalypse once... And i did find the nuka cola truck and a nuka cola delivery cyclist...
On the side note, i found that BB gun Red Rocket to be very usefull even for my end game. I blasted my way through the military base with it - and i didn't know you could use more than 1 companion then, so i was playing solo from start to finish... Eventually i found that enemies actually started avoiding me once the battles started... Weird...
I've heard someone say it instakills if you hit people in the eyes, as a reference to a Christmas carol.
*Moo I say*
nnnegatory!
DOCTOR WHO!!!!!!
Thanks ox for almost daily uploading
He doesn't upload daily.
Almost daily
Mike, from Texas, sorry hard.
There is a perk that can extend the world map... but there's nothing there.
Thanks for doing this series Oxhorn. Just got done watching the whole lot. I have played this game several times over the years but it's been great to hear your take on it and cover some of the lore I was unaware of.
Can't lie this games rpg elements are dope
Is this the Krusty Krab?
No, this is Patrick.
Man i wish bethesda gets obsidian to make a norher fallout game for west coast
Never gonna happen, according to Bethesda.
It would be cool to see this all in 3D, even if Obsidian didn't make it/.
@@kurisu7885 It is 3D. I think you mean non-isometric, and I wholeheartedly agree.
There's a Mod remaking F2 in F4.
Me: today old friend (looks at gun)
Mike, from Texas
that is more what I mean, thanks. Like that huge crater near LA, I'd love to see it from ground level.
2:00 ~ As K says in MIB: Elvis is not dead, he just went home.
The brahmin herd is probably a reference to the cow level from Diablo 2. Diablo 1 had a rumored cow level, but was admitted to be a fake.
Also Bambi vs Godzilla.
Fallout 1 was released in 1996, Diablo 2 in 2000
Sorry, I meant the urban legend of the cow level in Diablo 1 (1996). Diablo 2 actually implemented it. Fallout 1 was released in 1997.
I was sifting through the comments to see if anyone else got the Bambi v. Godzilla Easter egg.
Those bramens could have been an easter egg to Diablo's cow level...
The idea that there was cow level in Diablo (1996) was actually an urban myth, even if it was a popular rumor in the realm of PC gaming. Blizzard added a cow level in Diablo 2 (2000) due to their relative amusement with the urban myth.
You missed the Holy Hand Grenade encounter, and the merchants with the next level gear.
there's a whale that falls from the sky
In f2
I wish there was a potted plant too
Is that a reference to "Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy"? The "potted plant" would be a bowl of petunias . . .
T1mbrW0lf yes ma’am
@@andykaufman7686 there was! Potted daisies right next to the fallen whale.
That’s no dinosaur print, that’s a Godzilla Easter egg

Mr.Bootleg But FO1 was released in 1996
@@shawnwolf5961 conspiracy guys used to say he didn't die but was kidnapped by aliens before that.
97
Yeah that's what I was alluding too. I thought FO1 was released before MIB, so more likely it was based on the conspiracy theorists and not the movie.
And this was more or less a coincidence? Eh, okay. That makes sense to me.
I was just thinking about how I'd love to see random encounters video after doing all the real stuff in Fallout 1. Like always, Oxhorn never disappoints. even prompted me to do a new run though Fallout 2
"We will return to the Fallout 3,Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 in the next episode"
*ANOTHER FALLOUT 1 VIDEO BEFORE Fallout 3,Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4*
Good Job Ox,We love you
One of my most favorite encounter was when I found a Nuka Cola truck with 5000 caps which was funny because I had 50000 caps because I would just trade instead of paying caps.
This was even in F 1 ? wow!
dr.who
Thanks for making videos like this, Ox! I can clearly tell you spend a lot of time actually exploring just to find stuff like this, then take the time to edit all of it with 6 videos a week. We do appreciate it!
I’m so hyped for the fallout 2 series that your gonna do Ox!
Vault Dweller: “ is this another cool random event with amazing loot?”
Patrick: “No this is Patrick” (I know someone already made this joke but I couldn’t resist)
Great video Ox!!
20 min didnt even passed
+ksb2311 So?
Dagnabbit, Patrick!
So when's fallout 2 coming ? Can't wait
"is this shady sands?" "NO THIS IS PATRIK"
@@Sybrakos1 Pussystanek
Ox:Is this a random encounter?
Patrick: no, this is Patrick!
love fallout 1 videos
I hope Oxhorn uses the Restoration Patch for Fallout 2. It makes the game so much better in every way, and the game already is great.
There is a cow level!
The fuzzy painting of Elvis is probably the fact that he's referred to as "The King" so the Aliens probably believed that was our leader
3 eyed catfish. Is that not a reference to the Simpsons?
Irradiated three eyed goldfish, irradiated three eyed catfish🤔 very similar
I love that you kicked things off with the tardis :D
"...a great way to find Shady Sands if you haven't already."
How the fuck is that even possible? Shady Sands is automatically on your map, and literally a few squares away from Vault 13.
Also, i just finished a playthrough of the game and didn't get a single one of these random encounters.
Try having a luck spec more than seven.
@@canceracar I think I had 6, so that's probably what it was.
The Alien Elvis reference is to the Conspiracy theory that Elvis was still alive but partying with Aliens.
Can you just kill Patrick to not see him again?
That's what I always do 😎
I wouldnt when playing a good guy.
1:40 Man who taught the aliens how to fly, the BoS? :3
What if Doctor Who caused The Great War?
Maybe...
Thanks alot oxhorn for making this series!
* doctor who theme plays *
