    After my first full session with the RMX, I realised that the box setup was far from ideal. So I handed the chassis to Ash (an expert in RWD drifting) and he managed to set the chassis up so much better. But he didn't just take the car and turn the screws, he actually taught me what the adjustments do to the chassis.
    With the lack of advice videos on the RMX 2.0 on UA-cam, I thought I would plug the gap and pass on the advice given to me. The car's setup will always evolve as my skills improve, so I will keep you up-to-date on the changes.

    Ive built 4 of these kits since they came out and your carpet setup has a bit too much rear camber for me, and active rear toe helps a ton too. Totally didnt know about that hole to lock the steering centered, thats brilliant. Everyone Ive shown so far hasnt known this tip either and uses it constantly. Cheers for the tips m8!

      Only passing the knowledge on from the guys I go drifting with. The setup has changed massively since this video. Running less camber and no rear toe. I've heard about the active toe and am planning on setting that up on the chassis soon.

      Drifting is all about setup. The slightest change can make all the difference. Just learn as much as you can and ask around at tracks. I've had a few people drive my car and see how it is.

    Carpet is supposed to have more grip then asphalt. What type of carpet where you running on?

    • @RCProjects
      @RCProjects  6 років тому +1

      I don't know the specifics but all the guys at the track have told me that concrete has more grip and the RMX comes setup for that type of surface.

    • @MrRedstoner
      @MrRedstoner 6 років тому

      I mean, you would expect the thing roads are made of to be decently grippy, while carpet is fairly smooth when say testing them with your feet

    • @thirtythreeeyes8624
      @thirtythreeeyes8624 5 років тому +2

      Same I've always experienced more grip on carpet although I mostly run on polished cement but, I always run a harder tire on carpet and/or more rear camber to get a similar speed. On cement or asphalt I can get sliding with standard rubber touring tire's and if I tried that on most carpet's I know of it would be full speed into the wall. As far as I knew this is what all the people in rc drifting say as well it's been a few years since I was active in any of the forums but, when I was carpet was king for the extra grip it provided making the car more predictable and easier to change directions plus your tire's lasting forever.
      I'm curious what carpet you run on if you don't mind finding out because I love carpet for the tire life but, my track area is pretty small so if I could keep the speed down that would be perfect. I know the options before were typical office style short loop carpet speaker box style or marine carpet with the grip going in that order.
      Yokomo also says the s in yd2s stands for slippery surface and specifically mentions cement requiring more weight on the outside tire for the extra grip needed on it.

    You have more grip on carpet than you do on concrete bro. Set the rear camber at three front camber at eight bring the front end up 2 millimeters higher than the ass end of the car and it will drift like butter. Remove the spacers you’re fucking up the active toe. You want the rear to squat it’s transferring the load to the rear tire what you’re doing is keeping the load on the front tires I don’t know who helped you set that car up but it’s completely wrong.

    hi man. How is this chassis holding up after all this time ? Are you still happy with it or are you already thinking of changing ? Been thinking of building a drifter , need some help and opinion on stuff . would you say it's better to get a More expensive chassis or Better electronics ??? Can't wait to see the shell you finally settle with .

    • @RCProjects
      @RCProjects  4 роки тому +2

      The chassis has been amazing. Setup is perfect at the moment and can keep up with any other chassis, it's just my driving which lets it down. The only thing that might let go fairly soon is the gearing. Makes a lovely crunching sound when activating the handbrake. They've released metal bevel gears so I'll probably upgrade when the time comes.
      In terms of my advice on building a chassis, the basic RMX 2.0 kit is more than capable enough and fairly cheap. Lots of guys upgrade them with aluminium bits but don't really need them. A stock chassis will perform fantastically with a proper setup. In terms of electronics, the ones I have in mine have given me zero issues and again, are fairly inexpensive. No plans of changing my setup any time soon.
      I've been through a few shells since this video. The R35 is now destroyed but it was just my basher shell anyway. I had a red Killerbody Alfa Romeo SZ to start with, then another Killerbody, a Skyline 2000 GT-ES in blue. Now I'm building a AE86 Initial D with 4AGE engine bay.

      @@RCProjects Nice choice. I love All those old JDM style cars ... I've seen so many different type of chassis and don't really get why people have there battery hi up behind the R shock tower ...
      I think I still have A Tekin' RS pro esc and a LRP sphere TC spec ,with a 7.5 or 6.5T motor in the garage ... but it might be over kill for drifting. I'm still contemplating my options ... thank for the reply ...

    • @RCProjects

      Weight up high is good in a drift chassis. It gives you a higher centre of gravity meaning more weight transfer.

    Any reasoning behind why you have not moved the servo to the rear position as well as relocating the ecu and receaver for the center upper motor setup?

    • @RCProjects
      @RCProjects  5 років тому

      In order to have the servo in the other position, you need a longer steering link which isn't supplied in the kit, so I had no choice but to put it there. I'll be relocating the ESC over the winter ready for next year.

      @@RCProjects I am hyped man, looking forward to it :) :) When I got my RMX 2.0S kit it came with a updated setup sheet to be used instead of the settings in the instruction manual, as well as a leaflet showing some option parts and what not. There seems to be five different second-deceleration-ratio gear sets for the gearbox internals. Parts numbers are 210036, 210035, 210025, 210034 and 210069.

    • @RCProjects
      @RCProjects  5 років тому

      I've got a 3rd set of bevel gears coming (210069, first 2 sets came faulty). Whilst apart, also upgrading to an aluminium bevel gear holder. This is the reason for the delay in the next video, every time I got a set of gears, they were faulty. I've got the setup right, it just needs more speed, very lazy at the moment.
