October 21st 2005 is a historic date for every NIGHTWISH fan - many tears flowed, yet the foundation was laid for a new beginning and the ongoing continuity of the band. What subsequently appeared as the DVD titled End Of An Era was not only the final show of their mega-selling "Once" tour, but also the very last joint performance with their singer Tarja Turunen. Due to all of these facets and more, the DVD will give you goose bumps many times over, yet it crowns the end of the Tarja chapter with a unique show that could hardly have been better or more spectacular. The setlist is stunning and contains 18 hymns, such as the opening "Dark Chest Of Wonders," "Sleeping Sun," "Nemo" and "Bless The Child" through to the final "Wish I Had An Angel". If you do not already own this live masterpiece, you can now look forward to the extensive new edition.
On December 7th, End Of An Era will be re-released as 3LP and Earbook formats including BluRay, 2CD and 3LP.

All the singers do when they get on stage. I saw Floor perform Live at Wembley and she looked like a dark angel amongst the fires of hell. When I heard her perform this song I was loving it but at the end felt so bad that I never saw Tarja perform the song live.

@@eslamemara4277 I didn't feel bad just a tiny bit upset for about 3 seconds while in transition after the second song (which was I wish I had an angel) then the third song started and I was instantly drawn back in by Floor's voice.
This particular version is the one i remember as a teenager. This white dress and the dark hair of Tarja, her voice, Marco the whine pooring everything.

Nightwish with their new members (including Floor) is the best ever, but that's my opinion ofcourse :)
Hate to say it, but I agree. I loved Tarja, but in all honesty, while not as classically versed, Floor's live vocals are more accurate, and her voice is much more diverse, going from operatic to raspy to pop in one song effortlessly.
totally agree aswell, but I'd like to note that imo the songwriting has gotten quite weaker with the years. Even though these songs were written with Floor as vocalist in mind I actually prefere almost every song from the two other eras over Floor's songs...imo Toumas' songwriting became a little too excentric and lost some of it's charme through that, songs like "Wish I had an angel", "Sleeping Sun" or as a later example "Storytime" are awesome and catchy songs while not being overly complex and I miss that.
Hard agree, as much as I tried to hate Floor when they sacked Anette. + I love the nature pagan based songs of they last album. Thoumas never losses his touch if you ask me

they might do it on purpose so that you have to buy the dvd in order to experience the "real" thing. Really bad marketing strategy if you ask me. Shows total lack of professionalism and respect to the artist's work...

Оперный вокал Тарьи Турунен был фишкой Nightwish в начале музыкальной карьеры группы и задал моду на симфонический металл в тяжёлой музыке, однако эстрадный вокал Флор ничуть не портит старые песни Nightwish, в ее исполнении Тарья давно ушла из группы в сольную карьеру и это нужно принять,. Фло также давно ушла из своей первой группы и сейчас она вокалистка Nightwish и поет она тоже прекрасно. Так что поклонники Тарьи успокойтесь эстрадный вокал Флор также прекрасен как оперный вокал Тарьи, А вот Анет Олсон явно не дотягивала до уровня Флор Янсен

I thought that could be a remote possibility, until I read a Tuomas interview where he is asked about the re-release of EOAE and he said he did not even know or had much of a say on it until Nuclear blast emailed him asking about the artwork.... he made a point of saying it so I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. He did not sound that happy about it either.
However, there is always a chance. My hope goes for a real Decades tour with Tarja, Anette, Floor, Jukka, Sami and an orchestra.... those songs deserve that.

Not gonna say that Nightwish without Tarja is shit or that her solo music sucks (in fact, it's really good and 100% worth listening to), but damn, her voice and acting are the missing ingredient in the band. She completes the puzzle.

One of the greatest performances by anyone in the history of music. Its a not a qestion, "if" Nightwish and Tarja reconcile, Its "When"? Tarja is not as good, without Nightwish. Nightwish is not as good without Tarja. That is the truth!
You should listen Tarjas solo albums are very powerful songs like undertaker, diva, love to hate, victim of ritual, I walk alone and many! I like nightwish nowdays I only want a enough good album with Floor and another solo album of metal and classical of Tarja!
@@joshcavaradossi4813 "what lies beneath" was a good record. Joe Satriani played on it.(couple songs) In general, her band is not that good! Not that good, at all. Nightwish is just another another "euro- band" without Tarja. "imanginarum" with Annette was very good. Since then Nightwish is really average. The one studio album with Floors had three great songs. The rest of the record was something you would never listen to again. Floors sings fine. However she sounds like every other girl who sings. Most women in tbe world can sing. If Nightwish was serious about really replacing Tarja. Sarah Brightman would of been a great choice. Unfortunately Nightwish doesn't want to pay out that kind of money. If Tarja wants to make it on her own, she has to get a better band.

If you are talking about the dismissal. I think she was imagining this possibility, because as she has said in one interview that the relationship between her and rest of the band was not good. And someday she self would leave the band.
But if you are talking about the open-letter, maybe you are right. I think the attitude of the band was ridiculous to expose her in that way, even though "she was greedy or living like 'diva'".
And I don't believe that she was like this. Because we've seen two singers fired in the same way.
@@JonHenrique97 I mean both situations. I don't like the way Tarja was treated in her final days in the band, especially after the open letter came about. I think the band didn't want to look so insensitive to the public by just sending her out and found a way to make them look the real victims by exposing Tarja first. But in spite of everything, I still love the band and I think Tarja's better off on her own.
@@thaismaia49 I wish I could love this band nowadays, but I miss Tarja in Nightwish. She made the difference in the band. And I can't listen the songs which came after her left. So I don't feel the same vibe of the "old-Nightwish"
But I also think that she has been done a good work on her own. So, this not mean that I want Tarja back in Nightwish. And I realize that she is the best singer that I've seen in my whole life. So, maybe things like this must happen.

Great song and a great performance but who the heck was in charge of digital editing??? So many cuts and rapid zooms, keep it simple and let the audience actually WATCH the performance... Still, a legendary song from one of the most unique groups I've ever had the pleasure of hearing.
