  • Ever wondered how to get that larger sensor look without sacrificing your current smaller sensor kit? The Brenizer method might just be what you've been looking for.
    As with all compromises in life, it will take some time and effort on your part. But when done right it could yield some seriously awesome images that will leave photographers debating what camera you took it with, while you quietly chuckle under your breath at how wrong they all are.
    But yes, this took me a while to do so I really do hope you find value in this tutorial and go out there to try it yourself!
    Thanks to Mike for helping me with the camera!

    Great video man! Loved the intro and edit, really clean & next level.
    I never heard of Brenizer Method before it seemed really interesting especially the way you showed it.

    This method kind of reminds me of focus stacking or focus bracketing. Great tutorial! As always, full of valuable information. Thank you Jay!

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  2 роки тому +1

      kind of similar but not quite, with focus stacking, you are only changing the depth of field, but not actually expanding the area that the depth of field covers. The brenizer allows you to get close to a subject for a very nice shallow depth of field, but also allows you to show more of the out of focus background

    This was fantastic. I've heard of pros doing something like this in studio set ups. I'm psyched to try this out with the 100v and the teleconverter lens.

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  2 роки тому

      Yeh in studio I would be very easy to nail. With the 50mm teleconverter it would work much better than 35!

    Cool jay v informative!!!! I learnt and did this once but called it ‘bokeh panorama’ on film. Same idea. Great for low iso films to burn thru a roll.

    🤯 Am I watching a TV show? Dude I tried the brenizer with X100V once but I chose a scene with too many vertical lines and the distortion completely fucked the photo merge haha. Glad to see that it actually is possible. Aaah that's where I must've gone wrong. I was pivoting the angle when I took the shots. Great tip.

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  2 роки тому

      yeh even with longer focal lengths, you can't completely get rid of the distortion the only way to get around it is to use perpective shift to straighten it up. A couple minutes extra work instead of spending thousands to solve one problem is a win for me anyday though XD

    Do you ever print photos? Any chance you could do a video on that process?

      Hey thanks mate, no I've never printed my photos in large print, but thinking of doing one sometime next year, if I do I'll be sure to document my process 👍

    Using lightroom is bit easier than PS as you don't have to cancel and import again and again for a less distorted image

    So I have to learn Photoshop then? I know how to use Lightroom, its just Photoshop seems a bit daunting in comparison.
    It looks like the distortion correction will be useful. I just figured out the brenizer method a few days ago and I'm trying to master it before I go out next time in the field.

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  2 роки тому

      Photoshop can be daunting if you want to learn everything about it, but if you want to learn how to do one or two specific things in Photoshop, you only need to learn the relevant tools

    Were the component files JPG or raw? Can method be used to combine raw files in PS?

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  2 роки тому +1

      I've never tried working with raw files within Photoshop, I usually do all my color correction/grading on raw files on a separate application then export out as jpeg into Photoshop to stitch together. The general idea is the smaller the file size/resolution the easier and faster it is for Photoshop to do it's thing

    so it doesn't create more bokeh, it just puts more of the out-of-focus area into the frame.

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  2 роки тому

      Yep, it's physically impossible to alter the aperture of the lens so bokeh can only be created/manipulated by keeping the subject further away from background elements.
