He played test cricket for 10 yrs I think and from 2000-2009 he took 393 wk in tests, which is highest in those 10 years by any fast bowler. Statistically, he was the best pacer during his time

He just got overshadowed by great batsmen (let's be honest,your average crowd enjoys batsmen more than bowlers ) .after graeme smiths 250 and that faboulous flintoff display.
and he also didn't have the fame other overseas bowlers had(Akhtar ,lee,etc)
That being said,I have no doubt race played a factor in him getting less spotlight
@@sroycze9284is race playing a part in Rabada getting seen as one of the modern greats? No. It's because he's the best in his country and on his day the best in the world. Does Ngidi get recognised at the same level? No, because he's not that good. Same with Ntini, Pollock and especially Donald were just better and as the new ball strike pair they naturally got more recognition. Same way Gillespie wasn't on the same level as McGrath and Warne. Lee and Akhtar exceptions because they were the fastest.
Graeme Smith retired waaaay too young. Still had at least 4 years in him at the highest level.

Geez that innings from Flintoff was outstanding it saved England from total humiliation in this test trailing by 509 runs and scoring 417 in second innings showed the character of this team but the test belonged to Smith and ntini coz they were instrumental in taking south Africa over the line by a distance in this match

3:24 That drop was the best thing that ever happened to Jimmy Anderson. Since what followed was two days of punishment and then five years of purgatory. After which, he emerged, fully formed and ready.
I think england s that time fielding coach was India s present fielding coach. Too many drop catches.
He dug very very deep after that match with utter determination and dedication, resulting in him becoming one of the best bowlers of his era‼️👏👍
@Ea Sa except Smith s drop all other drops were quite tough. However India dropped simple chances in Adelaide . Except that one catch of Saha all other drops by prithvi shah, bumrah, hanuma Vihari etc were quite easy.
Players like Flintoff, Strokes and Pant have kept test match alive since they have ability to change the direction of the match in couple of sessions.

First series of cricket I ever watched, that Trent Bridge test was a classic but all I can find online is Pollock's 6-for and Jimmy getting Kallis out.

Very happy to see the end of SA as a test cricket powerhouse. Let’s not forget that while they dominated this test, the series was drawn 2-2. And SA have not beaten England in a test series at *home* since 1999-2000; or anywhere since 2012😂
