Vernon Philander is a great fast bowler. With a perfect repeating action, he had the ability to swing the ball out and cut in in and together with impeccable line and lenght, he was a very difficult proposition for the batsmen, particularly on the seaming wickets of South Africa
And Strauss never played again. 3 times G Smith toured England, thrice english skippers resigned after the series. Hussain in 2003,Vaughan in 2008,Strauss in 2012
