i put these ball Joints in my Ram 2500 several years ago and now I have 172,000 miles on them and the truck still drives like new still! Great products! Cant go wrong with Carli Ball Joints for sure! 💯
I changed mine last year for the first time since truck was new in 2004 and removing one of those top BJ with breaker bar and 3 foot piece of 2" schedule 40 galvanized pipe to turn the clamp and when it popped loose I stumbled backwards and landed on my back flat out. 😂😂 So much fun.
I can’t thank you enough brother! I have an 06 3500 SRW and I’m currently at the removal stage of getting to the ball joints. Committed to do the ball joints since I am installing Yukon Spin Free Hubs. May God bless your heart and family!
I've done a few Ford's. But wanted to refresh my memory before trying an 08 dodge. So thank you very much. Especially with the info on pulling the axle.
Thank you sir for the video an the details that you went into explaining even the little details that was very helpful and putting upper and lower ball joints in my 05 2500it is men like you that helps out people that wants to fix there truck an save some money thanks once again for the great video God bless
Did these on my 04 HO 6-Speed about 5 years ago. Not sure about now, but at the time Carli said disassembling the upper voided the warranty. Not that they'd even know. I had to do the same as you and disassemble it to get it in. My cap for the upper came loose when torquing to spec. I retorqued to 30, seemed to do the trick.
Great video. Much thanks brother. Would this process work for a 2020 and 2022? Also, is there a way or other specific parts to get to avoid the grinding process? And one more thing if it’s not to much to ask; could you share the specifics tools needed to do this type of work. Like the socket set, the adapters and the puller or what ever is called. Thanks again. Blessings for you and your family.
Thanks brother. To avoid grinding you can get a different set of ball joints and avoid using the Carli joints I installed. Your truck should be the same as mine unless they changed the design and I've not heard of a change yet. Torque specs could be different so you might want to look into that. The ball joint press I use is in the description. Hope this helps.
Just a FYI Advanced ,AZ and O'reilly rents these BJ presses. Older trucks may want a small butane torch handy just incase you need so heat the knuckle to help unseize the bj.
I have these ball joints and I’ll be damned if I can get them to take grease! Only 20k miles on them. Uppers and lowers won’t take any, I even have zerk covers on so nothing gets in the fitting.
Take zerk fittings out and make sure they aren't clogged. The balls in the zerk fittings could be stuck. New fittings are cheap so you might be better off replacing them.
@@isolateddieselperformance3261 had to hire a mechanic to come over with a sledge hammer . he was a bigger guy than i am, so he was able to put some weight behind that hammer. it was a little scary. new ones went in easy.
There should be NO grinding involved when replacing ball joints in a 4wd Dodge front differential and there are good ball joint tools just for this job. I have a kit from Torque King and they also have a good ball joint replacement video on their UA-cam channel.
I have a great ball joint kit too and it works great with any balljoint i install except carli balljoints. If you install carli balljoints on a 4wd dodge 2500/3500 you will be grinding the knuckle down for clearance in some cases. Carli said i will probably have to grind the knuckle if the casting was to thick. Any other brand of balljoints you won't have to grind the knuckle.
Again another guy makes it look so easy. It's not that easy!!! Dodge sucks on this behalf of ball joints. Top knuckle is at a angle and getting a c tool to press causes a tweak ball joint. Dodge designed this for bottom end press. They designed it for you to go to dealer. I have done this alot of times and always have issues. Until I seen the Matco ball joint press. Game changer!!!!
Dodge didn't design the axle. American axle makes it for dodge. I've never really had to many problems changing balljoints unless rust was a factor which in NC its usually not a problem.
I have a hard time believing that you dont take a measurement and have cali make you the ball joint that fits….if not there is a company that does…..most people dont know that companies make over sized ball joints.
Bore wasn't big enough to start ordering over size ball joints yet. I could have went without raising the material but I wanted to just to get a tighter fit anyway. If these wear out the next set will be a special order
@@isolateddieselperformance3261 i was just saying if you needed that it would be easy fix to have them made. I dont know if the company you used makes ball joints to fit the truck. All i know is that emf blue prints everything they make and you never have to press another ball joint. It’s another option that is all. Especially if. You dont want to spend as much as that

I don't have a Dodge or u-joint problems, but that was beautiful to watch. Good job!

We've all been there brother.

Now Carli wants you to disassemble the top one before installing because some was damaging during install.
@@isolateddieselperformance3261 Glad to hear it. Makes sense to disassemble. I couldn't see any way to get it in without disassembly
Makes 2 of us.

My set works great on factory balljoints for the heavy duty trucks. Carli joints are taller so my press was just a little shy.
That's good info. Thanks@@isolateddieselperformance3261

Are you raising the truck off the ground and letting it rest on the axles?
Yeah, I tried it with it on the ground and then jacked up the front end. It was the same no matter what.
Take zerk fittings out and make sure they aren't clogged. The balls in the zerk fittings could be stuck. New fittings are cheap so you might be better off replacing them.
I have zero caps on them, but I’ll take them out and see if that’s the issue.
Sometimes grease will harden at its entry point. Caps don't always help with that.
Look like I better take my truck to the shop, this was out of my league
It's not bad. I have faith in ya.
Me and my son tried all day. Used breaker bar with cheater bar, power tools, could get them to budge at all .
You will have to use heat.

EMF made my ball joints to the specs of my ball joints…this is a great video , its a shame hes paying top money and not service
