They twisted her story to make it seem she was in fear for her life. Instead, the prosecutor won the argument that she shot the gun in anger. It is ridiculous. There is a petition for her and other black men and women who are in jail for similar reasons. I don't know why I

It would be wrong in the same way as having a slogan "Black lives matter." No, "ALL and EVERY life matters!" Because he was otherwise a completely upstanding member of society and his community. An incredible young man that just liked to partake of something less harmful than alcohol. But because it's currently illegal in Texas outside of for medical purposes, it's the only thing they can say was wrong about him.
But everyone knows that it wasn't actually wrong, so it prompted a huge backlash last month. Plus, it was only found in his apartment after a search (which wasn't really necessary), so Amber could never have known that he had it - thus it couldn't have been relevant to the crime.

It does, but I do actually think that in specific cases where that "excuse" is believable it should be taken into consideration during sentencing (but NOT convicting).
Why? Because situational awareness is hampered in distress.
People say "didn't she recognize the furniture??" well no not necessarily.
Do you seriously think that if you walked into your house and found an intruder you would check the furniture surrounding you? NO, you wouldn't. You would see the potential threat because that is just how human nature is.
And given that she was a police officer that makes this even more convoluted, because police SHOULD have training to overcome this natural human response to situational awareness reduction, but sadly they often dont.

There’s a lot of disturbing things about this story, many of which Trevor brought up.
However, from my non-American perspective, the thing that has struck me about this story is the repeated comments from American media of how “you should feel safe to not get shot in your own home”. Because, really, that’s how low your bar is now? Shouldn’t you be able to feel safe to not get shot REGARDLESS of where you are, REGARDLESS of the colour of your skin? Shouldn’t that be considered the bare minimum?
You shouldn’t be upset that a black man got shot in his home by a white, off-duty police woman; you should get upset that a black man was shot at all. The fact that the only place one should expect to feel safe is in your own home is a sad indictment of American society.

"Ma'am this is my apartment , yours is right over there"

That was one of the key points in the trial that she was able to leave. She could have left the apartment and if she had nobody would have died. Step out, call the police or backup or whatever and then they arrive at her actual apartment or they defuse the situation.

Black folks have been brainwashed to such a COMPLETE degree! It makes me very sad and mad!😡😔No one wants to be hated by the predominant group; to be on the bottom. Please see the "Willy Lynch Document". As a young boy, I remember watching Shirley Temple 📺 👩🏼bossing old Black folks around and, my sisters being presented with blonde Barbie dolls👧🏼 by relatives. MOST of the cartoons, kid shows and, movies I saw as a child, featured a "cute" little blonde girl or, "beautiful" blonde young lady being coddled, catered to, sought after or, rescued. Black Americans are the most despised people on Earth! We serve our country in the millitary, work in our communities as public servants and, even provide "the entertainment"😁☻ 💃🏿🎤🎺🎶🎷🎸for the comfort of "the mainstream" (you know who)! Yet, we are STILL the pararia of humanity. MAN, I just don't know anymore...smh😫😖😔We've done LITERALLY everything a people can do to gain acceptance or, at LEAST be "allowed" to live in peace. There are STILL those of "them" who hate Kappernick for starting the "kneeling thing", and STILL don't understand why he did it. May the good Lord grant the Botham AND Joshua Brown family solace. May He protect "Bunny" (the sista who sent the original footage📱 of 👮🏼‍♀️after she🔫☠Botham). Her story can be seen on African Diaspora UA-cam channel (formerly "The Advice Show"). I'm curious to see how my comment will haunt me in future; probably loose a job or something!😅 Peace, people! 👨🏾‍⚕️🏃🏾‍♂️👨🏿‍🏫

Not Even close to the same thing. What if a black woman cop walked into a white guys apartment, killed him and used what (from what I've heard about the circumstances) could be a believable excuse given more details? I assure you it would be about the same sentence. It's the female vs big strong guy aspect of it more than anything. This video goes into almost no detail about the case and is quite a stretch. Always seems to be about race with this guy.

Ballsrog if it was a black female cop it would have been exactly the same, pretending otherwise is only convincing yourself.

Trevor, excellent way of parsing and providing context when explaining all the wrong of this case. People are not understanding how this enforces a bad precedent

Black, white, other, etc. If you kill someone in their own home, THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW!!! That, like everything else should be equal.

Her being able to use the castle defense is ridiculous to begin with. She wasn't being blocked in the apartment by him,all she had to do to save herself even if she did feel threatened was take 3 steps backwards and leave (even if it had been her place). She was not on duty and had no right to order anyone to do anything.

The closing of this video was very well said. Treat everyone with equal amount of respect. Treat each other as how we would like to be treated
