The sounds are from when the suit is breathing for him + he has a separate device - a voice box that talks for him. So breathing and talking can happen at the same time, it was like that in the movies also.

To me, Scott Lawrence is the only one who can succeed James Earl Jones, period. His voice in Jedi Fallen Order is very very similar to James Earl Jones. I even thought James Earl Jones himself voiced Darth Vader in Jedi Fallen Order but in fact, it’s Scott Lawrence. Kudos to him, man.

I always have found his voice to be far more intimidating, not to mention the fact that the added anger in his dialog feels more befitting to a Sith, considering anger and hatred are necessary emotions to manipulate the Dark Side to it's fullest extent. DarthRushy Age, probably. It's been 30 years since the release of the Original Trilogy, and JEJ has aged quite a bit in that time. People's voices change as they get older and move into their later years.
DarthRushy No I'm pretty sure it's age. Listen to interviews closer to the release of the Original Trilogy, then listen to him now, his voice has indeed changed. His voice now has a bit more of that kind of "old man rattle" in a way, not significantly, but enough to noticeably alter his performance. Voice modulators might have a little something to do with it, but I suspect age is the main culprit. We'll see how he sounds in Rogue One, see if his voice sounds the same as it does in Rebels. If so, you can then almost certainly put it down to age.
Obi-Juan Actually, I just remembered that Jones recently reprised the role of Mufasa in the Lion Guard, and he sounded exactly like he used to, so it has to be the modulator, at least for the most part.

Prowse actually spoke the dialogue of Vader when filming his scenes. But his English accent wasn't intimidating enough for the character. So they used Jones voice.

GuyNamedSean If you compare to Anakin's voices, Matt Sloan fits well with both Hayden's and Mat Lucas Voice since their voices are a little bit high pitch and James Earl Jones fits well with Matt Lanter's voice since theirs are deeper. (in my opinion) and I love those combinations.

Prowse actually spoke the dialogue of Vader when filming his scenes. But his English accent wasn't intimidating enough for the character. So they used Jones voice.

I feel like where Matt Sloan really dropped the ball with Vader’s voice is the fact that Vader isn’t intimidating from being loud and scary, he’s intimidating from how calm yet stern he talks, and I think James Earl Jones did that perfectly.
