His vocal portrayal as Vader is mesmerizing. Make no mistake, it IS the actual GOAT SciFi performance. No one on Earth has ever seen Darth Vader on the big screen and not been impacted. Nod to Prowse, but Vader's characteristic voice was ONE of a kind. The bass, the masculinity, the richness, all of that paired with a Shakesperean depth. The effort pushed into his dynamic control, inflections, emotions, and the RANGE is the purest space adventure drama. A gift. In the truest sense of that word. James Earl Jones got that voice and got on the screen, and probably half of the world would vote him for voice of God (Morgan I love ya). BTW, listening to his voice, as Vader, with nice headphones on is something I can't believe I haven't done before writing this...so if you're in the same camp, DO EET
Really?? There's a "end of Kenobi' line? Damn, that only makes the prequels dumber then they already are. "Oh Anakin, you'll be the end of me" Shut up, Lucas!
This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker, *forever:* You can hear yourself breathing. It comes hard, and harsh, and it scrapes nerves already raw, but you cannot stop it. You can never stop it. You cannot even slow it down. You don't even have lungs anymore. Mechanisms hardwired into your chest breathe for you. They will pump oxygen into your bloodstream, forever. - On Anakin's rebuilding.
@@MingusDynastyy This is from Vader's surgery in the Revenge of the Sith novel, you can find an audiobook clip of this on UA-cam, it's called something along the lines of "Anakin Skywalker: Forever". I'm reading the book right now and I think it's amazing, I'd definitely recommend!
"Leave the Wookie to me." (Chewy survived). "Leave young Skywalker to me" (Luke escaped) "Leave the Princess to me ..." (in the end, she prevailed). In short, the safest people in the movie seemed to be the ones Darth was going to deal with.
Darth Vader is the greatest villain in cinematic history....HANDS DOWN. Every single scene with him in it is perfect...literally. Will anyone EVER forget the opening scene of Episode IV, when Vader enters the blown out blast door & surveys the dead rebels. I think not. That scene was burned into my head at 7 years old & it remains my favorite of all time. There should be a whole series of episodes of no one, but Vader.
I cannot agree more with you. I was 7 years old when I went to see SW with my dad (rip). I think the age minimum was 10. I pretty much scared out shit when seing that first Darth Vader scene and I went down hiding behind the row of chairs in front of me every time during that film when Darth Vader emerged, so my very first SW experience was pretty much jumping on and off my seat.
To me Darth Vader ONLY falls short to the Joker, but it's really tight. As for the rest, i agree 100%, he's so iconic that even people who've never seen Star Wars know who he is and know his lines. He's that huge
"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force." This line gives me chills because it's the Jedi in Vader talking there.
'Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed'. I fucking love that line. Vader swiftly puts it into perspective that even a moon sized planet destroyer pales in comparison to the infinite reservoir of power he and others have available through their faith. He rightly puts it in it's place and sharply denounces it as nothing more than a 'technological terror', regardless of the world of devastation it could and does bring over the course of the saga, because he understands that the force surrounds us, it penetrates us, it binds the galaxy together. An unnatural weapon of evil such as the death star, regardless of it's size in proportion with our heroes, pales in comparison to the power and scope of the energy comprising an entire galaxy and Vader doesn't miss a beat in letting any sneering admirals know that truth.
I know many people have said this but Darth Vader wouldn't have been as intimidating, as screen stealing and as iconic if it weren't for James Earl Jones and David Prowse may they both Rest in Peace. Thank you both for giving us the greatest villain in cinema history.
R.I.P David Prowse, I’ve never been a Star Wars fan but I will always enjoy David Prowse as Darth Vader and James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader. May the force be with you David Prowse and remember you don’t know the power of the dark side.
“Your weapon to destroy a planet is still insignificant compared to the force” I love that line so much because no matter how evil he gets he still believes in the force 😭
*"Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed, the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force."
Well the sith love the force too but I do believe the way he said that was more Jedi like since it seemed he was more about serving the force in that line
Abinash Pattanaik well the problem is that the final trilogy of this franchise added NOTHING to the universe building or aesthetic of Star Wars while shitting on what has already been built, and it does so in canon
To one of the best actors of all time, you will be deeply missed by all. Through your art, however, you will continue to live on in our hearts. May the Force be with you, always.
@@jackdiepenhorst Lucas didn't start writing the prequels until 1993 or so. It created a lot plot holes in the original trilogy, like Leia remembering who her mother was and Obi-Wan being an ancient Jedi Master who had lived past his prime and whom Tarkin assumes "must be dead by now." Obi-Wan looked to be in his early twenties in Episode I, so logically he should still be middle-aged at the time Episode IV is set. But Lucas decided to make Obi-Wan a young supporting character in Episode I, when really he could have fixed all the plot holes by having Obi-Wan in Qui-Gon's place and Anakin in Obi-Wan's place. Vader is said to be "young" at the time he betrayed Luke's father, but that's just to establish that the destruction of the Republic was a horrible outrage that happened in Luke's own lifetime, and not ancient history the way the Imperial officers are talking about it in the next scene. You could easily make Darth Vader sixty years old and still have him be a believable badass, until Luke defeats him in the last movie.
You left out my favourite line! "Sister! So... You have a twin sister! Your feelings have now betrayed her too." His utterly malicious delivery gives me chills every time.
One of my favorites is in Rebels when he orders Minister Tua to meet with Tarkin: "He expects you tomorrow... to *account* for your *failure* " Because who isn't scared of accounting for your failures? Vader knows this. He also knows the failures of nearly everyone in the galaxy pale in magnitude to his own colossal failures. It amuses him to terrify smaller people with their own shadows. It's an expression of his anger that theirs will never be as dark as his.

"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force."
This line gives me chills because it's the Jedi in Vader talking there.

That sounds something petty hayden anakin would say.
The thing is Vader never left Obi-wan. Obi-wan left him burning to death with no arms and legs so that doesn't really add up.

One of my favorites is in Rebels when he orders Minister Tua to meet with Tarkin:
"He expects you tomorrow... to *account* for your *failure* "
Because who isn't scared of accounting for your failures? Vader knows this. He also knows the failures of nearly everyone in the galaxy pale in magnitude to his own colossal failures. It amuses him to terrify smaller people with their own shadows. It's an expression of his anger that theirs will never be as dark as his.
Everything that pisses vader off is good, fuels his power in the dark side of the force
