2024 still rewatching. It was an electrifying time. I remember watching this unfold in real time. Anticipating every other knicks game. Consuming all the buzz, news clips, morning show segments on the games the night before any time it came on. Climaxing with that raptors game and that game winning 3. Pure magic. I was a kid again during that time. It was ridiculous.
It's so heart warming to see Steve Novak support Jeremy Lin's rise. Can really tell the sincerity of the gesture every time he cheers for him and the team.
I come back here every couple months just to see him hit that reverse layup and split the double team in those last few clips... I'm not even from NY but I don't think I've ever experienced anything like Linsanity while watching sports... Things like the emergence of Steph Curry, LeBron dropping 40+ points on 64% and/or a triple double in 13 consecutive games, Giannis taking off from the elbow 3 times in 8 games while putting up at least 33, 13, 8, 3 and 3 or Devin Hester's best season come close, but there was just something magical about Linsanity that nothing else has come near...
I'm 60 years old and I can think of only a handful of moments where something I saw in sports was so moving that I can watch the highlights of it again and again without it ever getting old. The 1980 USA Hockey gold. Jimmy V's Wolfpack winning the championship against Phi Slamma Jamma. Kirk Gibson's pinch hit HR in the Serious. Jeter's "flip" to Posada. Moments where I was literally jumping around my living room screaming at the unbelievable thing that had just happened. That whole period of time where Jeremy Lin went from "Who?" to superstar ranks right up there in that I can still watch all these highlights and I find myself grinning like the Cheshire Cat at every bit of it. I sometimes wonder if the Knicks failure to bring him back was partly that they and the NBA did not want the face of NY basketball to be an Asian-American. Sad if true. One thing I know for true -- I will NEVER forget those six weeks of watching the most unexpected of underdogs take the NBA by storm.
Sir, you are on point! I remembered when Lin was on the cover of a sports Illustrated and a lot of the black players said some derogatory stuff but all the newspapers swept them under the rug! Those six weeks were like the movie Hoosiers cause all the Knicks players played so hard for each other, cheered for each other and was so unselfish! Plus those are real basketball players, not super athletes like today…seems already like a different generation, although it’s only 12 years ago! You can tell who wanted to win! Amare and Chandler embraced Linsanity, Melo didn’t! Plus blame the coach for not being brave enough to keep the team game going. Melo should’ve came off the bench or traded.
There are so many variables that cause good things that don't need to be fixed, changed by either jealousy or money contracts!! One thing anyone can say "what if?" as far as what if Jeremy would've never been traded or went to Houston. Im originally from NY and was an original Knick fan. I had never witnessed how 1 player could electrify the garden moreso than Lin the way he did. Not because he was perfect or the best athletic performer, but because of his tenacity and unselfishness! Yes he was asian and yes that might've made the crowd and team more attracted to the novelty of his performance, but he was an extreme breath of fresh air to the Knickerbocker franchise!! Whatever the cause of his departure was an infortunate loss for NYC! He could've been a fixture for them and they may have been competetors with the elite teams even til today!! Now he's a Raptor! Good luck and fortune to him and cudos for the excitement he brought for the knicks night in and out!!
Carmelo was mad at the style of play more than Lin. Melo wanted to play ISO but D'Antoni wanted to push the pace and that style as we all know today Melo never could handle. If he could shine too he would have been ok with playing with Lin but Mike wasn't having it being that ISO jab step bslow down ball movement play and in the end he was fired cause Dolan loved Melo like he was Jordan
People always ask me, "what's your favorite NBA era? 80s? 90s? 00s?" and my answer is "None of those... it is LINSANITY!!!!" But no in all seriousness, Linsanity was such a fun series of games to watch because this dude came out of nowhere and started balling like an Asian Kyrie. I won't forget that stretch

Didn't the Knicks win like 7 straight with Lin running the show and Melo/Amare out? Meanwhile, the current Knicks won 17 all season long. Shows how terrible the Knicks ownership and front office really is.
+gorrow1990 The front office is terrible, but lin wouldn't have done much, he had a good 2 weeks. Its like when people thought dele was the second coming. He was like tim teebow, or however you spell that dudes name.

Mario Hezonja dunking on Giannis

If Jeremy Lin had a documentary like "The Last Dance", I would gladly watch it.

Right now it would be called “The Last Chance”

This small line up with Amare at C was pretty good. Too bad Carmelo had to come back from injury and ruin everything. lol
