When you said "sometimes the glass does just hate you" I burst out laughing!!! There have been sooo many times I thought those exact words!!!
And believe me, I often hate the glass!!

Sophie, your punditry is on point and jam packed with alliteration. Stay safe
;-)
Great tips. I enlarged a stained glass window using 4mm minster glass and used the same glass to replace a broken pane. It had several tight curves. I used the tapping method but both times took out part of the piece I wanted/went off course. The 3rd time I tapped from the narrowest point and got my piece cut perfect. Much relief and satisfaction. The window was for my Sister.
We've all been there! But you won in the end - good job :-)
You are always so helpful with your wonderful advice ! Thank you❤
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching.
Great tip! For those difficult to hold, small pieces, i use a pair of parallel pliers with plastic jaws. They're mainly used in jewelry making but they're awesome for holding small pieces that you need to snap or pull apart. They basically sandwich the piece in the jaws rather than pinch it in one spot. They make breaking pieces that are hard to grip much easier.
Love your channel... I asked about your lead cutters last week and got myself a pair of the multi purpose cutter and they cut nice and flush on both sides so thanks for that 😁👍🏻
I'll look into those pliers - sound good!
The struggle is so relatable .... once again super helpful video :)
Thanks!
Thank you! This was helpful!
Good to know.
Great top tip! Thank you 🙏
You're welcome!
Thank youuu! Wonderful confirmation :)
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Sophie , thanks for the tip. Spent yesterday swearing at my glass pieces, who would have thought glass is alive😤🤣🤣
Ikr ..glass can be really mean!
Great video!
thank you!
The cutting tool that I had meant was something that cuts ledge and has a gauge on it. 4° looks like a pie cutter. If you could tell me where I can get it in the USA or in England.
I think you mean the 'gasket cutter' I got mine on Amazon. Try a search. If this isn't the thing, please direct me to the video and the time it occurs.
Hello Sophie have just come across & subscribed to your channel. I am a beginner, have made one glass panel using copper foil. I have been asked to do a project for a front door (5 panels) using lead. I have all the stained glass tools & kit but I’m at this stage still a bit clueless so will start with a practice window first. A prototype as it were before going into the real thing. Do you have an videos covering this in detail? What about measuring up before you start to ensure panel will fit window etc? Lots of technical stuff I need to navigate through. So any help would be great
You could do worse than getting my book. It covers all the things you mention in detail. I also have lots of free videos that would help if you don't want to buy the book. Look at the beginners play lists. This is the measuring up video ua-cam.com/video/UGSqBk2SEe8/v-deo.htmlsi=s4FQNIfiX3-gSF-I Try using the search function on my channel for the other things you are looking for as I'm not specifically sure what you need.
Hi Sophie I would love to get the book. Can we chat off-line about this? In the interim I will follow your videos.
what size of h-came lead would you use if you were making a small bird with such a size like that piece or would you copper foil to hold it together? seems like the lead would cover most of the glass up like 3mil by 4mil too big...hmm
You're right that lead can look to heavy on a detail like a small bird. In the end it's an aesthetic choice. I don't go smaller than 4mm because I make windows and I'm looking for strength.
