    Do you haft to remove the cotter pin?

      In order to adjust the chain, you need to loosen the axle nut, so the answer is yes (probably), you will (most likely) need to remove the cotter pin in order to adjust the chain. Depending on the size of the cotter pin, it might be possible to loosen the axle nut just enough without removing the cotter pin to facilitate adjusting the chain.

      You shouldn’t have to remove the cotter pin. You’re just loosening the axle nut. There was plenty of thread between the nut and the cotter pin when I adjusted mine. You don’t have to remove the axle nut, just loosen it.
