  • Most of us see our body as a physical entity - something that allows us to get through the physical elements and hurdles over the course of a day. And while, obviously, the physicality of our body is important, we need to view the emotions we feel and the psyche we exist in is equally as important as well. Because one doesn’t exist without the other. And because, in all the biological and mental processes occurring that keep us alive, the mind and body are deeply and intimately connected.
It’s previously been studied and noted that emotional trauma and psychological stress can actually be stored in someone’s somatic memory. And that somatic memory eventually begins to affect the body’s biological stress response.
This means that after emotional trauma takes place, the physical changes that happen in the body afterward like the release of Cortisol and the increase in inflammation and the hormone imbalance will leave a lasting impact on the body’s regulatory mechanisms, processing responses, and even on its pain centers.
To put it simply, the emotional trauma is physically storing itself in the body.
    For good.
(OR… until you release that trauma.)

Really want to look into this more. My psychotherapist of nearly 4 years has gone into retirement. We believe I went through CSA as I experience emotional and physical flashbacks/sensations, but never clear picture or memory recall due to dissociative parts. I often feel that I was born at 11 years old as I have no childhood memories before this, besides a few memories around 4 years old. We did EMDR and parts-work but as I'm still in a somewhat "unsafe" situation in my life we couldn't get far enough, I have a sense that my body wouldn't trust/allow for the work to be done. I am also on the obesity scale and have struggled with PCOS and weightloss my entire life. Don't even eat a lot, only thing that helps is fasting. To be honest I feel lost and a little hopeless right now, but I made my therapist believe I was okay during our final session. I know there is still so much trapped trauma and healing to do but I almost didn't want to say that to "discredit" her wonderful work with me, and her generosity in lowering my cost of therapy by 70%. I only work part-time at the moment due to mental health, so can't afford to pay for courses and things just yet. But as soon as I can I will, maybe in a couple months. How did you first come to learn and discover this yourself? Any book recommendations? I know that cortisol is my number 1 enemy and I really want to understand how this all works so that I can dive in with proper knowledge and help myself. Thank you if you manage to read or respond to this, I appreciate you spreading this vital advice.

Hey Kyla. I saw your comment, and I relate so much. I was in therapy before too. I am now obese since being diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago, tried all fad diets, and now my relationship with food is just out of wack. I am feeling lost too in all aspects of my life, so to take care of myself, I started only working part-time since Dec 2022. I recommend checking Mila Magnani’s first UA-cam upload. It might help. I’m looking into somatic exercises as well. Hope I can connect with someone who’s going through the same.

Can I add something. There is a LOT of hoohaa when it comes to trauma release. I haven noticed that those who look for answers constantly create new problems. You should make yourself a 1,2,3 year plan and move FORWARD with your goals. Stop thinking about your past. I don't remember much of my childhood either but who cares? It's done.

Wow! I just did this for the first time last night. First round just a bit of mild shaking and a couple tears. Fascinated, I did it again and didn't even finish before my legs had a life of their own, they were flopping and shaking so much. My pelvis, arms, and upper body did too sometimes, but not like my legs. There was a time of more intense crying. I must have pent-up anxiety. Thank you.

Just a question, how are the tremors supposed to "proceed"? Should they be completely involuntary or can we add voluntary shaking to them as well? I feel tremors in a sequence almost sometimes they're minor, while other times I let it flow through my body and kinda aid them with shaking. Your videos are super helpful!

Question, does it sometimes take a few days of this? I know I have major trauma stuck in the body but I didn’t get much shaking (a little after the first couple rounds) no crying (although I was just crying really hard because I recently lost my Mom & I was trying to learn the song “one more day” to sing it at her memorial. Do you think that’s why I didn’t cry or maybe it’s just gonna take more than 5 rounds for me?

Maybe when I am able to do this work it will help me release the stuck energy, many years ago I had a therapy that left me in a right state where the energy was only partially released and left me with body jerking it was so embarrassing, and, involuntary shouting!! I would feel stuck energy in my solar plexus and shout, it was so much energy, it was horrible.

I just finished the shoulders course and it worked well. I was under the impression that there was a discount code at the end of the videos if you wanted to purchase another one but sadly, there wasn't. I went online to see if I was looking in the right area and was really let down to hear that any comments that are remotely negative are removed. I understand not wanting negativity. However, I think if there are so many positive comments, they would outweigh the negative ones. Hearing this kinda left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
