  • Foreigner - Break it up 1982
    Made myself a prisoner
    I locked myself away
    Cant remember the last time
    I saw the light of day
    Dont want to face life
    Feel Ive been betrayed
    I want you to tell me
    Where our love went astray
    So cant you wait one more minute
    Why cant you wait one more day
    Lets get it straight
    cause its a big mistake
    We better think about it
    I dont want to break it up
    Why do we have to break it up?
    Never ever want to break it up oh no
    I only wanna make it up tonight
    You say youve thought about it
    But you sound so cold
    You make it look like our love
    Can be bought or sold
    You wont listen
    You say its way too late
    That something is missing
    And now you just cant wait
    Why cant you wait one more minute?
    Why cant you wait? Give me one more day
    Lets get it straight
    This is a big mistake
    We better think about it
    I dont want to break it up
    Why do we have to break it up?
    Never ever want to break it up
    Ooh no, I only wanna make it up tonight
    So dont say break it up, break it up
    I wanna hear you say well make it up, make it up
    I dont want to break it up
    Oh baby, why cant we make it up tonight?
    Make it up tonight, make it up tonight
    And I ask myself
    Whats wrong with me?
    How could I be so blind?
    I know she tried to give me everything
    But I still couldnt see
    Now as I watch our love slip away
    Im begging you, begging you, please
    Dont break it up, break it up
    Take a little time and make it up, make it up
    I dont want to break it up
    Oh no, I only wanna make it up tonight

    As a singer myself, this is one gifted voice..he is so underrated it's pathetic. The range and power he has, the reach is incredible. Ever notice how so few singers do copies of Foreigner tunes. That's because they're so hard to sing.

      Yes it does , I don't even call a majority of what it put out today music. I confess I do like NF and he is rap, but that is because I can relate to his music and he's not nasty. I feel like music that describes me Rock- Foreigner romantic guy with occasional naughty thoughts ( Hot Blooded, Urgent, Dirty White Boy) and Rap- NF a rapper that I feel is easy to relate to, writes frustration raps without cursing. I like music no matter the style for me as long as the lyrics are decent and awesome. Death Cab For Cutie, The Black Keys and Switchfoot aren't too bad, but I love my 70's and 80's rock the best.

      +Rich Ray Rich, All I can say to you is I've seen him many, many times and each time I have seen him, he was incredible. You have to remember when you sing with his level of intensity, you might forego a perfect performance for the sheer passion and energy. @@anschel123 go look at Germany 1982 and Mexico 1995.
      He sings in the original key live. Doesn't tune it down. He will go overboard on Juke Box Hero. I hate that song anyway. It is sung late in the show. One of the hardest songs to sing live in the original key. Sorta like "More Than A Feeling" by Boston. No one covers that well. Seriously!
      If he started out with Juke Box Hero, it would sound fantastic.
      Remember, many times you hear that song tuned down to help the singer.
      Also give '85 Farm Aid a listen. He does well there also.
      Listen to some acoustic clips with Mick and the boys. Lou is phenomenal. He's sounded extraordinary to me in '80, '85 with Foreigner and soloist in '90

    You go through those Foreigner albums one after the other and the songwriting, the production, and the performances, especially Lou's are PHENOMENAL. This kind of music could NOT make it today for the plain reason that it's a WHITE band of men with attitudes. Sullen me-dorks could make it, and pseudo-porn chicks, and blubbering gutter-english rappers, but not a band like this. We lived through an amazing time!

    • @xennial80sxberner
      @xennial80sxberner 9 років тому +1

      +jenniferlacex If this came out today it would probably just be an indie hipster band that would languish underground. Rock in general went away after 2009 it seems (and even then, the only "rock" was post grunge Nickelback sounding crap).

    • @smitchix1
      @smitchix1 8 років тому +3

      +JPMcFly1985Two After 2009? Please, more like after 1992. Even the grunge bands - considered "rock" by many, especially the press, who loved them - lacked sorely in every area that fans that grew up in the 70s and 80s came to love about real rock, metal and hard rock music...I'm talking about songwriting, musicianship, melody, vocal ability, mastery of one's instrument, and maybe most importantly - attitude.

    • @xennial80sxberner
      @xennial80sxberner 8 років тому +1

      True, although the 90s were still pretty diverse (and I'm talking with all genres of music) and you had edgy punk like Offspring and Rancid, traditional metal like Metallica, or even super hardcore heavy metal like Pantera.
      During the 00s the rock was more poppy (i.e. pop punk bands, or older groups like RHCP still charting) rather than rebellious. Though still edgy compared to the EDM and pop crap today.

    • @jenniferlacex
      @jenniferlacex 8 років тому +4

    • @xennial80sxberner

    Best song off the 4 album. Underrated song, got it's share of radio airplay 30 years ago but never made it to timeless status.

      Agree it's THE best track, on an album full of GREAT songs.
      Utterly baffled me as to "why" Atlantic NEVER released it as a 45rpm single ????

    My favorite song off F4. It was on the priority playlist at most of our parties in High school. Like catnip for the human soul.

    One thing what I find interesting is that this song and "Juke Box Hero" both charted at #26 in early 1982 yet you still hear "Juke Box Hero" getting constant rotation on FM radio all the time and you hardly hear this song being played on FM radio, this song IMO should have made the Top 10, I like how this song has that ballad/rocker hybrid
