- Foreigner - Break it up 1982
Made myself a prisoner
I locked myself away
Cant remember the last time
I saw the light of day
Dont want to face life
Feel Ive been betrayed
I want you to tell me
Where our love went astray
So cant you wait one more minute
Why cant you wait one more day
Lets get it straight
cause its a big mistake
We better think about it
I dont want to break it up
Why do we have to break it up?
Never ever want to break it up oh no
I only wanna make it up tonight
You say youve thought about it
But you sound so cold
You make it look like our love
Can be bought or sold
You wont listen
You say its way too late
That something is missing
And now you just cant wait
Why cant you wait one more minute?
Why cant you wait? Give me one more day
Lets get it straight
This is a big mistake
We better think about it
I dont want to break it up
Why do we have to break it up?
Never ever want to break it up
Ooh no, I only wanna make it up tonight
So dont say break it up, break it up
I wanna hear you say well make it up, make it up
I dont want to break it up
Oh baby, why cant we make it up tonight?
Make it up tonight, make it up tonight
And I ask myself
Whats wrong with me?
How could I be so blind?
I know she tried to give me everything
But I still couldnt see
Now as I watch our love slip away
Im begging you, begging you, please
Dont break it up, break it up
Take a little time and make it up, make it up
I dont want to break it up
Oh no, I only wanna make it up tonight
Should be illegal to have the looks, the hair, and that VOICE! LOVE, Lou Gramm
He does such an awesome job singing this song. I love it.
Magic voice... Greetings from Russia, from my youth, from the 80s...
DENNIS ELIOT, YOU ARE AN AWESOME DRUMMER!!!!!!
can;t remember the last time dynamics make it up. LG at absolute best.
Lou is the greatest!
@bigchickenfu You got that Right! Lou Gramm is The Best! Always has been and will be, He is the Voice of Rock!
That is the most bad ass double neck guitar iv'e ever seen. It looks like it could be Flash Gordans guitar if he played lol
Молодцы Ребята!
Can someone who knows how to play the drums tell me if the drummers actually playing them? What I see him doing isn’t what I’m hearing in the song
I feel like this song has always been criminally underrated compared to the rest of Foreigner's catalogue. Shame, because it's truly one of their best
As a singer myself, this is one gifted voice..he is so underrated it's pathetic. The range and power he has, the reach is incredible. Ever notice how so few singers do copies of Foreigner tunes. That's because they're so hard to sing.
Right??? Pure genius
@@erinswhimsies There was a YT video called Live in the Netherlands. Incredible!
Absolutely agree 💯!!!! Love him and his voice.
Lou Gramm. One of the greatest singers ever
Yes he was
Folks, you are looking at the Greatest Rock voice ever in his prime!
+tryithere I like Kelly a lot. He's great. But don't ever confuse the two. Lou Gramm is the Babe Ruth of Rock Singers. No knock on Kelly. Love him.... But Lou is the best of all time!
Jimtimpop
I never confuse the two. Kelly's not great, he is good. He's a scream singer where Lou is a power singer. Lou is great.
Just to say. Kelly is singing as lead for foreigner .. he'll never ever be as good as Lou. As on the hits. Hell Lou is sounding pretty good lately..he may never hit those highs again. but he's still the man. Never get confused. Lou is foreigner! But I sure hope he gets it back..love ya Lou!
Lou Old still sounds better than Kelly!
He’s badass that’s for sure
1000 Grammys to Lou Gramm! His voice, his heart and his look were so damnly gorgeous!
Man today's music sucks
Yes it does , I don't even call a majority of what it put out today music. I confess I do like NF and he is rap, but that is because I can relate to his music and he's not nasty. I feel like music that describes me Rock- Foreigner romantic guy with occasional naughty thoughts ( Hot Blooded, Urgent, Dirty White Boy) and Rap- NF a rapper that I feel is easy to relate to, writes frustration raps without cursing. I like music no matter the style for me as long as the lyrics are decent and awesome. Death Cab For Cutie, The Black Keys and Switchfoot aren't too bad, but I love my 70's and 80's rock the best.
Six years since your comment and it’s only gotten worse!!!
I believe Foreigner is one of the all time best Rock bands. Not often you can buy a album where every song is excellent. They do this with every album.
Best song ever by foreigner. Love this gruop
LOVED FOREIGNER SO MUCH WHEN LOU GRAMM WAS LEAD SINGER, I MISS THE 80'S :(
for sure !!!
..Me too missing '80 but luckily 80's Aor is still alive with many bands (Fm,Magnum,Survivor,etc..)
Lou Gramm was the BEST!! However, I just saw them in concert tonight and they were phenomenal! The singer sounded great and the music was unbelievable!
Me too
I miss the ‘70’s too !!! ❤
Please don't mention Kelly Whatshisname in the same breath as Lou Gramm. No one can ever replace or come close to Lou. EVER.
true that~
Agree 100%
Nobody has ever sung with such gut wrenching passion. Lou was the greatest period.
EVER!!!
I refuse to even watch or buy the newer stuff
You truly have to be a serious singer to truly appreciate the vocal ability of Lou Gramm. He is near operatic in a Rock voice. It takes tremendous strength and stamina to sing those songs like he does....still does. I hope he decides to teach one day.
Lou Gramm sounds amazing on record- horrible live
+Rich Ray Rich, All I can say to you is I've seen him many, many times and each time I have seen him, he was incredible. You have to remember when you sing with his level of intensity, you might forego a perfect performance for the sheer passion and energy. I remember one night in particular he went places with his voice that was truly astounding. He is without a doubt, one of the best Rock singers we had. Maybe it was an off night...it happens.
I would LOVE to have seen that. I've been watching various youtube videos and have yet to find one that did him justice. If you can refer me to one that does I'd love to see it!
Sure, just type in...Lou gramm live in mexico 1995.
@@anschel123 go look at Germany 1982 and Mexico 1995.
He sings in the original key live. Doesn't tune it down. He will go overboard on Juke Box Hero. I hate that song anyway. It is sung late in the show. One of the hardest songs to sing live in the original key. Sorta like "More Than A Feeling" by Boston. No one covers that well. Seriously!
If he started out with Juke Box Hero, it would sound fantastic.
Remember, many times you hear that song tuned down to help the singer.
Also give '85 Farm Aid a listen. He does well there also.
Listen to some acoustic clips with Mick and the boys. Lou is phenomenal. He's sounded extraordinary to me in '80, '85 with Foreigner and soloist in '90
His voice sounds so pure in this!!
Of one the most talented vocalists I've ever heard.
absolutely agree with you - Lou Gramm is considered as one of the best pop/rock voices for the last 30 years !! Magic voice !
Great Lou Gramm.
Get it Lou! Terrific voice! Great tune.
holy crap, I forgot how much I like this song! Lou Gramm's voice is crazy good and the chorus is a punch in the face.
When Lou sings... I get chills up my spine.
Simply, one of the very best ,most powerful, articulate voices ever to record !!!! Especially on this song.
My favorite song on Foreigner 4. That's the classic Foreigner sound......
Agree 100%
YES ! 👍
Foreiner 4 was AMAZING
Saw Foreigner on the 4 tour in 1981. Fantastic concert. Great song.
The most underrated and underappreciated band of ALL TIME...I kid you not. FOREIGNER should be in the R&R Hall of Fame. This is a great video. Too bad it never made its way onto American TV.
Probably the most underrated song ever. Shit is so cash. Oh my fucking god.
One of the great unrecognized voices of rock and roll
Unrecognized? Anyone around in the late 70's and early 80's knows Lou's voice immediately..
I recongnized it!
You must be talking about the Kelly Hansen fans .Some still unaware he's NOT the original vocalist ( on the classic hits) and could care less.
Lou Gramm the pride of Rochester new York has some of the best pipes in music.he don't need foreigner anymore hes already made his mark peace Ted
TED KOLLISTER yep, yep Roc city will always embrace Lou Gramm
greatest rock male voice ever...........period
Him and Freddie Mercury. In my opinion both equally talented.
nikpapagiorgio63 you got that so correct
michael jackson and freddie mercury have entered the chat
@@jason-zx2ju I love MJ's songs, but I never thought he was one of the best singers ever. He had a nice voice though. I also wouldn't say he was rock
OMG LOU GRAMM ROCKS! What a voice!
If there is one rock vocalist who never got the props he deserved, it was Lou Gramm.
Lou is and will always be the #1 vocalist from my generation!!
these music is like wine, just gets better with age
I totally agree. Seriously skilled. My inspiration as a singer.
Love this song....You can really feel the emotion when Lou Gramm screams out a note....awesome!
Lou Gramm You Are Amazing the Best! Your incredible voice made Foreigner ♥♥♥
Lou Graham is definitely one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Hope your health and retirement is going well. There will never be another you.
GREATEST EVER !! NEVER EVER BE ANOTHER LOU! LOVE YA MAN! WHEREVER YOU ARE. KEEP ON KEEPING ON!
All of the lyrics are so emotional. You can just see the anger and pain in his eyes.
Foreigner = most inspirational lyrics of the 80s.
Lou Gramm gets me every time.
This is absolutely fantastic song..love every part of it:))
My favorite song from "4". Thanks for posting, I never new this video existed!!
1977-1994 they owned the air waves, man what a sound, millions of fans can't be wrong,LOU greatest singer to ever pick up a mic
Just listen to lou's voice its perfect for every song they make
Maximum ecstasy voice of Lou Gramm.
The best 💕
There is no "Foreigner" without Lou Gramm--or Denis Elliot. Gramm is the greatest vocalist of my lifetime--and Elliot had a style that his replacements can not duplicate.
Don’t forget about Mick Jones
Lou Gramm ,a truly incredible voice ,a great frontman.
THANK YOU PLAYING LOU AS LEAD SINGER
Fantastic... why can't music sound like this here in 2021...You Better Think About it???
what a vocalist par excellance!
One of the best Foreigner songs of all time.
Lord lord Lou ! Amazing voice !
It’s 2020 quarantine! Who else is listening to this awesome music!?!?
I'm so glad to see that more and more people
re-discover and discover LOU GRAMM's SO GREAT VOICE AND TALENT !!!!!
You go through those Foreigner albums one after the other and the songwriting, the production, and the performances, especially Lou's are PHENOMENAL. This kind of music could NOT make it today for the plain reason that it's a WHITE band of men with attitudes. Sullen me-dorks could make it, and pseudo-porn chicks, and blubbering gutter-english rappers, but not a band like this. We lived through an amazing time!
+jenniferlacex If this came out today it would probably just be an indie hipster band that would languish underground. Rock in general went away after 2009 it seems (and even then, the only "rock" was post grunge Nickelback sounding crap).
+JPMcFly1985Two After 2009? Please, more like after 1992. Even the grunge bands - considered "rock" by many, especially the press, who loved them - lacked sorely in every area that fans that grew up in the 70s and 80s came to love about real rock, metal and hard rock music...I'm talking about songwriting, musicianship, melody, vocal ability, mastery of one's instrument, and maybe most importantly - attitude.
True, although the 90s were still pretty diverse (and I'm talking with all genres of music) and you had edgy punk like Offspring and Rancid, traditional metal like Metallica, or even super hardcore heavy metal like Pantera.
During the 00s the rock was more poppy (i.e. pop punk bands, or older groups like RHCP still charting) rather than rebellious. Though still edgy compared to the EDM and pop crap today.
That's true! And for the most part nobody gave a damn what race a musician was!
I'd say Bruno Mars, or Indie rock groups like Walk The Moon are the closest we have today to classic 80s music. They're good but they're the exception to most of the crap.
Lou Gramm, Don Henley & Steve Perry are the best singers in the Rock N' Roll business, they could really sing.
Lou Gramm had a great voice. Really special on this song. He sang with so much passion. I miss him.
"What's wrong with me, how could I be so blind..." You're not, you're just a guy, that has the most Awesome voice EVER! Lou Gramm the Man.
LOU I am 42 and a music lover! and there is NO ONE in this world who can touch the clarity and beauty of your voice!
...And I ask myself, whats wrong with me.
Thank you Lou
Our resounding answer is always absolutely nothing is wrong with this. Great song
Wow amazing power, stamina, and just kickass rock vocals....Mr.Lou Gramm!
I cant believe this song wasnt in the top 100 for the year 82, wow this was all over the radio for the whole summer of 82 her in pa, this is a classic early 80s jam , dam sad its looked over and hardly played
Jodi Henry I'm pretty sure it was in the top 20 hit 16
My favorite foreigner song ❤
EVERY ONE IN THIS BAND BROUGHT SOMETHING TO THE TABLE,LOU BROUGHT THE TABLE,LOU IS THE GREATEST SINGER EVER BORN,FACT
absolutely pure genious, no one can make these sounds but FOREIGNER ,oh there is lots of group that are sensational, really, but when you can knock out hit after hit after hit and hall of shame, doesn't even know you're alive cos some crap mick spouted has nothing to do with LOU GRAMM and the rest of the band's extraordinary talents, these people are my kind of sound, put cd's on and never have to change a song, thx FOREIGNER
Prime Lou Gramm is a top 10 all time rock vocalist.
great tune foreigner Break it up
Still listening to this amazing song... From France... Love Foreigner
Just talked to Lou and he MAY tour with Foreigner in 2017! That is the only way i would go see them! LOU is the best! The Voice that made Foreigner!
Lou is going to Mark. Man, would I love to see that.
genius, operatic voice that chose rock,we win, thank you lou
Lou is at his Zenith with this vocal performance.
For me it is Lou Gramm, Steve Perry,Steve Walsh.
They are the three that give me random goose bumps to this day
This song and "That Was Yesterday" are my favorite Foreigner songs I listen to most frequently. Although they put a ton of songs-all very good.
Good choices, same here
Fronting Foreigner or solo, Lou was one of the top 3 rock vocalist on the planet. The Foreigner of today does a disservice to that amazing legacy Lou Gramm left behind.
EXTREMELY underappreciated Foreigner song that I actually like more than their big hits. Love how 80s music blended hard rock and ballads like this.
I remember hearing this when i was younger and was at the the turning point in life. It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for displaying this great video!
OH MY........LOU'S VOICE IS PURE MAGIC........SO BEAUTIFUL........I have never and will never get tired of hearing him sing.........ALL of FOREIGNER'S VERY BEST,ARE THE HITS THEY ARE TODAY BECAUSE LOU GRAMM SANG THEM FIRST!!!!!!!
This is one the best songs on the 4 album!! Played the crap out of this song and the entire album too!! Love that bass!!!
This Song is a masterpiece
Best song off the 4 album. Underrated song, got it's share of radio airplay 30 years ago but never made it to timeless status.
Agree it's THE best track, on an album full of GREAT songs.
Utterly baffled me as to "why" Atlantic NEVER released it as a 45rpm single ????
One of my favorite songs
First time I’ve ever seen this video or heard this song. 🎶. Wow. ❤❤❤
with Lou is the only way I'd go back to see them , seen many times bf Lou left ,
Lou Gramm's voice is sublime on this piece !!!
love is great song foreigner
Lou Gramm is the most under rated singer in thre rock n roll era
good days of rock, lou is the meter no one sings like him one of foreigners best.
I distinctly remember my dad telling me to turn this song down.
you probably don't know that Lou Gramm is still considered as one of the best pop-rock voices since 30 years !!!!!
not only Lou but mick because they were the genisis of foreignor
My favorite song off F4. It was on the priority playlist at most of our parties in High school. Like catnip for the human soul.
Lou can hit every note, low or high, without effort.
Foreigner 4 Album
Klasse 😎😎🤘👍
This is one of those songs that come out at you
Smokin' video. To me they will be one of the great bands period.
One thing what I find interesting is that this song and "Juke Box Hero" both charted at #26 in early 1982 yet you still hear "Juke Box Hero" getting constant rotation on FM radio all the time and you hardly hear this song being played on FM radio, this song IMO should have made the Top 10, I like how this song has that ballad/rocker hybrid
Lou Gramm 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍👍
if god had made to hear its voice, he would have had that of lou gramm
Lou is a treasure...
without a doubt Lou Gramm is the voice of Foreigner all the songs are unbelievable I grew up on that magic
