This was the most kind discussion I've ever read on UA-cam. I take off my hat for both of you gentlemen for restoring my faith in humanity by proving not all people on the internet are aggressive and disrespectful. I thank you both.
Stahl's backstory is his father saw the common people lived miserable lives while the Visari's chosen elite prospered and the military . Khage Stahl built the factory to get close to Visari to try to overthrow him but failed. Orlock had him killed. Stahl continued his father's effort. He planned from the start to kill the leaders an kill all enemies in the universe. Stahl was never sided with the senate or leadership to begin with. Kind of impressive he fooled them all, even Visari.
That 'ISA ship' was a stolen ISA Nuclear bomb that the Helghast used on their own city to destroy ISA forces in Killzone 2. They shot that soldier because they didn't want any witnesses to the Helghan high command's act
Killzone series is the only game where you are playing as a bad guy and make's you feel like a good one...but still you are shooting to people's who protect their honor, nation and future. That's why i want to be Rico, Sev and the rest of ISA dead in Killzone 4.
Scolar Visari... a true leader... and a very respectful man to his people in Helghan. Got himself killed from the ISA scumbags... the helghasts will miss him.... rest in peace... Scolar Visari.... you will be missed.
Y'know, we can thank Guerrilla Games for creating the games, as well as the very look of the series, but for this third game, I think we should give credit to Sony Computer Entertainment's Visual Arts Services Group for animating these well-conceived cutscenes... except for the first 2 by Digital Domain.
I would love to have the same voice as the Admiral! "Attention all troops, this is the Admiral. Double your efforts, i want the ISA dead within the hour". Love that line!
i was really excited when i saw the opening text with the sorrowful music. i immediately thought "damn, talk about emotion. this is gonna be even better than the second game!" and then i saw the rest of the story.... the game is still fun, but it doesnt capture the desperation and hopelessness of war like killzone 2 or the resistance games did. instead i got two of some of the most annoying, generic videogame protagonists EVER. and captain narville was pretty annoying too. i like the game, but the story was a total letdown for me.
+Gojira Guy it's funny, but I have never played a game where I HATE the heroes more I always ending up siding with the highest and when you find yourself siding with the fascists you know you have made some unlikeable protagonists
@Tarful2345 Well Orlock is an Admiral, a high ranking CO of Helghan Naval forces. He is out of his element by conducting a land based operation such the rooting out of ISA forces in Phyrrus
Killzone is based in the in the SECOND Extrasolar war, there was a first, which isn't showed in the games. The First Extrasolar war was before Visari's birth.
@OfficerTNT Huh, I was getting my info from the timeline on the official site; didn't know this. Although (if the wiki is to be believed) he was on Earth at the start of the war, and Helghan by the events of Killzone 2 only two years later, even though the two are 5 light years apart, and there is no mention of FTL travel in the universe (any cutscenes of Helghast/ISA ships back this up). But I have the game now; guess I should finish the campaign before anything else :P
The beginning and the story resembles Germany in WW1 and 2.They lost the first war but they became a superpower in the next. Then when Orlock was giving the speech it REALLY resembled the Nuremberg rallies.
@TacticProductionz I think you should wait so the experience is better than just watching the cutscenes. After you finish the game then you can come back and rewatch them :)
strange visari has brown eyes and here they show distinctive green eyes, also the ISA ship in the beginning? is something being planted or is it a diversion tactic. Either way we know the introduction movie of K3 is definetly a prequal to K2
@bigbossX35 i find the biggest flaw with the Helghast is they basically took the revenge thing too far. other than that they are completely badass. and Visari and Radec are boss!
It says something when the Helghast council's bickering is more intriguing than the protagonists' exposition dialogue. Fun game, but it lost some of the character from Killzone 2. At least they cut back on the swearing.
@blackjin21 Some of the helghast are restitant to the effects of the air. Most of the time thier half human, half halghan, but at some point visari makes his soldiers wear them to make them remember the hardships they endured in the past due to the effects of the air, a symbol of pride and honor sorta.
@Awesomecomet1 The reason the Helghast started this war is because the ISA sent them to another planet without suporting them when they got sick. Since the Vektans worked together with the ISA the Helghast started preparing a war. The ex leader, father of Scolar visari sweared that one day his son will live on and get his revenge. Now who actually is the bad guy? The ISA says visari started spreading lies while we seen a video of visari's father calling the ISA's actions "File crimes"
Can you blame him? Killzone 2: Entire ISA expeditionary force, lots of ships and guns, attack Helghan Killzone 3: The entire fleet they came in is destroyed or gone, and they have to survive on their own.
@bigbossX35 It is a little odd they never even entertained a level where you start as some Helghast grunt, just for establishment or something, would have made a good chapter opener
I was given killzone 3 on ps3 as an christmas present and as I'd not played 1 or 2, I was very confused. I really hoped I was the helghast and then when it said 6 months earlier I was even more confused and who was the bad guys etc. Its a great game but can somebody please explain the bit at 1:35. Why is a helghan soldier shot? Why does an ISA ship leave? Please explain, sorry if this sounds like a blonde post!
@MisterHorstRUS Don't really think Kaiser Wilhelm was a bad person. He was the scapegoat of World War 1 when it really was a pointless war with no good or bad side.
@sergeant850 I agree, in some respects, but not in a "Helgan are good/bad" sort of way. Helgan were left to rot in bleak land (a la post-WWI germany) and re-grew to strike back out of anger and expand. The Helgan are beaten back but give stiff resistance (KZ1-2)... From there (KZ3+) it gets a little fuzzy :) The parallels give both sides, and the struggle between them more human!
@tobz1000 Captain Narville served in the UCA and was secondment on Earth when the first helghast attacked happen on vekta, so Im guessing, he could say this seeing as he's been to earth.
in some of my cutsceens are glitching, some of the people dont appear in them and sometimes it skips parts of the cutsceen. has this happend to anyone else?
I dislike how they keep throwing Captain James Remar under the bus in Killzone 3. He is basically a middle management soldier put in an extremely tough position and being yelled at by upper management and those under his command and he is trying to make the best of the situation for everyone. Upper management is yelling at him to do the impossible and the other yelling at him because he is making tough decisions. An example is in the very beginning where the ISA is retreating from the planet and he has to bring thousands of ground troops to the evac point in less time than it is physically possible to do. And he getting yelled at by the main characters for leaving people behind and for trying to get the soldiers there as fast as possible because they will get stranded on the planet if they don't (which is what happens). Whereas the main characters get promoted for their testosterone decisions to keep shooting and killing until they win without thinking of the consequences, which ends up working for a very silly reason.
@galaxies101 Godwin's Law. But yes deliberate similarities I would imagine. Ironically in both cases if the victors had treated the defeated with more dignity the situation might not have developed into a second war. Now as I said before it in no way justifies the Helghasts' (or Germany's) actions, just makes them understandable. An important distinction.
@gasdfw5 Dont get me wrong man, I love the new way they went with the characters, I like how they put rico in a less dumb rage mode, and that sev is still the smart loyal one. I think the new narville is great, and he will probably go down as the most rememberable character to me in this game. I love this series of games, its just so interesting to see the weapons and machines they use, The ISA Cruisers are mind blowing. I can't wait to see where they go with this series.
"A crater the size of Kansas..." Poor dialogue there considering Vekta's limited communication with Earth, let alone the likelihood that any of the character have visited it. If the cutscenes are of this quality all the way through (which some reviews indeed suggest), I am disappoint :(
@Ninja7047 After the ISA's Earth backers took Vekta from the original colonists and forced them to live on Helghast. Their desire for revenge is understandable but they seem to have taken it too far.
@tobz1000 Ya, Man. Lol And some of the ships do, I think later in the game it shows a cruiser jump to earth. They really keep alot of the technical, and minor stuff out of the games. Doesnt get real in depth beyond the characters.
@tobz1000 If you really want someone to care, make an abridged series about. No, I'm not just being rude, I actually think that would be a great idea; a cutscene/movie of a video game in the style of an abridged series. @FrankDHpEpisodes No offense dude, but I really LOVE the Call of Duty games (got MW2 and Black Ops for Christmas with my 320 GB PS3, the 60 GB one died T-T). As long as a game is fun it's good, and Black Ops had a great story for what it is, especially compared to the previous COD-games. Still, I prefer Killzone (altough Killzone 3 felt more like a Killzone 2.5 to me, but that's not a bad thing if you ask me). Killzone is the best FPS-game series for me. lol
Are you to stupid to follow a direct order and shut the fuck up" gets me every time i hear it lol
one of the toughest armies ever seen in games, the helghast are a good example of dedication, honor and acomplishment
Don't praise the fictional Fascist regime.
This was the most kind discussion I've ever read on UA-cam.
I take off my hat for both of you gentlemen for restoring my faith in humanity by proving not all people on the internet are aggressive and disrespectful.
I thank you both.
The voice acting in this was freakin immaculate
The scene where Orlock gives his speach is just epic
I like how in this game, Narville has a deeper voice and he is more important unlike in Killzone 2.
i think sev deserves a promotion
Brian Cox is such an awesome voice actor...Helghast are awesome.
Stahl's backstory is his father saw the common people lived miserable lives while the Visari's chosen elite prospered and the military . Khage Stahl built the factory to get close to Visari to try to overthrow him but failed. Orlock had him killed. Stahl continued his father's effort. THANK YOU, fuck I've been looking for an explanation to that scene since 2013 and you my friend have finally explained it.
Pretty sure the Jews said the same thing
Killzone series is the only game where you are playing as a bad guy and make's you feel like a good one...but still you are shooting to people's who protect their honor, nation and future. That's why i want to be Rico, Sev and the rest of ISA dead in Killzone 4.

I love how they so closely followed the ending of Killzone 2. It's great. :)
"Fire back"
"At what?"
"EVERYTHING!!!!"
I liked Killzone 1 because there were charachters with ATTITUDE
Story was far better. The only problem was the hardware limitations.
I would love to have the same voice as the Admiral! "Attention all troops, this is the Admiral. Double your efforts, i want the ISA dead within the hour". Love that line!
I wished that who ever made this game would make a Killzone where you get to play as the Helghast in the Campaign, and kick some ISA butt.
i was really excited when i saw the opening text with the sorrowful music. i immediately thought "damn, talk about emotion. this is gonna be even better than the second game!" and then i saw the rest of the story.... the game is still fun, but it doesnt capture the desperation and hopelessness of war like killzone 2 or the resistance games did. instead i got two of some of the most annoying, generic videogame protagonists EVER. and captain narville was pretty annoying too. i like the game, but the story was a total letdown for me.
This was never gonna keep up with halo
+Batou3 Halo? Are you kidding me? Halo's boring as Fuck.
What??
+Gojira Guy it's funny, but I have never played a game where I HATE the heroes more I always ending up siding with the highest and when you find yourself siding with the fascists you know you have made some unlikeable protagonists
thescopedogable The Helghast are pretty bad though.
5:56 Was the part when a friend of mine got offended when the f-word got said (sorry to say that, but it reminds me when that happened back then)
That scene was meant to be a flashback before the nuke went off in the city.
Thanks for the cutscenes great story for sure.
I love Orlock and Stahl's faces... It's incredible how human they look.
Many people compare the Helghast to the Nazis. That's not entirely true. They are more similar to the Soviet Union.
In what for example....
What matters to me most is Helghast backstory, everyone should read it first before saying they are just space nazis
not true, they are a coorperativist autoritarian regime, the closest for me beeing Italian fascism
How so brother?
More like the Iraq.
@Tarful2345 Well Orlock is an Admiral, a high ranking CO of Helghan Naval forces. He is out of his element by conducting a land based operation such the rooting out of ISA forces in Phyrrus

When visari says where are radec and stahl I always heard we're erratic and stuff
The beginning and the story resembles Germany in WW1 and 2.They lost the first war but they became a superpower in the next. Then when Orlock was giving the speech it REALLY resembled the Nuremberg rallies.
There seriously needs to be a Killzone movie, i mean like R-rated and everything with intense Saving private ryan/Black Hawk Down action.
@TacticProductionz I think you should wait so the experience is better than just watching the cutscenes. After you finish the game then you can come back and rewatch them :)
I got Killzone 3 before playing any other killzone before, and I had no idea what the heck was going on.
Good to see Radec again. That guy was badass-incarnate.
Heh, love that line between Sev and Rico. 'Fire back!' 'At what?!?' 'Everything!'
No, it's a production error. The subtitles claim Sev should still be a sergeant, and in all the other languages he calls him sergeant.
@OfficerTNT It's called Hard Science Fiction. They try to keep things as realistic as they can, anything that takes that away gets left out.
3:17 Thumbs up, if you cheered alongside your fellow Helghast
@GyroTedi1 Actually they changed Sev and Narville's Voice actors. Only Rico's actor remained
@Buzzkillington066 that's the Higs way of saying King, or Emperor.
Alot of people believe that Visari survived, and was using a clone Duplicate in order to Fool The ISA, but I have no Clue..
I dont understand what some critics were complaining about. I fricking love this game! Havent felt this way about a game since GOW 3
One of the best shooters and looking games on PS3.
Thumbs up if you saw the Guerrilla Games logo on Narville's left arm.
hey dude can u pls set in the settings of ur tv setup and ps3 ur graphic is so cool
Isn't it strange, always after Visari ends his speech,he has that "Dark look" as if he's gonna kill you
stahl, lmao 'What about the tank group on the left? Are you ignoring them on purpose or is this part of some strategy beyond our understanding?"
strange visari has brown eyes and here they show distinctive green eyes, also the ISA ship in the beginning? is something being planted or is it a diversion tactic. Either way we know the introduction movie of K3 is definetly a prequal to K2
@bigbossX35 i find the biggest flaw with the Helghast is they basically took the revenge thing too far. other than that they are completely badass. and Visari and Radec are boss!
7:19 That helghast tank is frikkin BRUTAL!!!
I really liked this idea it's like WW2 but in space
R.I.P Visari, you will be greatly missed. Hail Visari!!!
the intro music sorta has a bioshock vibe to it which is cool
It says something when the Helghast council's bickering is more intriguing than the protagonists' exposition dialogue. Fun game, but it lost some of the character from Killzone 2. At least they cut back on the swearing.
@blackjin21 Some of the helghast are restitant to the effects of the air. Most of the time thier half human, half halghan, but at some point visari makes his soldiers wear them to make them remember the hardships they endured in the past due to the effects of the air, a symbol of pride and honor sorta.
The thing is there's never a good or bad side in war. But you can't get rid of it b/c humans have been fighting each other since the beginning.
Can you blame him?
Killzone 2: Entire ISA expeditionary force, lots of ships and guns, attack Helghan
Killzone 3: The entire fleet they came in is destroyed or gone, and they have to survive on their own.
And why the hell would they leave out Natko! He was like the swearing drunk, miss him allready, I hope he will be back in Killzone 4.
@bigbossX35 It is a little odd they never even entertained a level where you start as some Helghast grunt, just for establishment or something, would have made a good chapter opener
@sergeant850 yes,but it's WW2 mixed with Imperialist Greed of the West
that's what it's based on, but then in the future with a good background story
@sergeant850 You said Earth, not Vekta.... pretty big mess up right there XD
I was given killzone 3 on ps3 as an christmas present and as I'd not played 1 or 2, I was very confused. I really hoped I was the helghast and then when it said 6 months earlier I was even more confused and who was the bad guys etc.

11:10 What about the tank group on the left? I mean.. are you ignoring it on purpose or is this part of some strategy beyond our understanding.
@warriorbestow he either got demoted for "killing" Visari or an overlook by the developers.
@MisterHorstRUS Don't really think Kaiser Wilhelm was a bad person. He was the scapegoat of World War 1 when it really was a pointless war with no good or bad side.
@playerkyle13 Not to mention the storyline plays out like an excellent, well-developed plot. This needs to be a movie or a book or something...
I still cant believe neither hackah or Lugar were in KZ2 or KZ3
@sergeant850
I agree, in some respects, but not in a "Helgan are good/bad" sort of way. Helgan were left to rot in bleak land (a la post-WWI germany) and re-grew to strike back out of anger and expand. I noticed Sev's look changed a lot in Killzone 3 and kind of looks like Jake Gyllenhaal lol.
@tobz1000 Captain Narville served in the UCA and was secondment on Earth when the first helghast attacked happen on vekta, so Im guessing, he could say this seeing as he's been to earth.
@MusicFreak1337 Why don't you play this "master piece" called black ops then?
in some of my cutsceens are glitching, some of the people dont appear in them and sometimes it skips parts of the cutsceen. has this happend to anyone else?
'are you too stupid to follow the order to shut the fuck up!?'
lol rico got pwnd
11:11 those holograms reminds me of star wars esp ii
thanks to the uploader..now i can make my own music video

Holy shit, I DO see it now!
apparently he only turns up in co-op mode
01:34 - 01:38 :
The Helghast and Stahl are saluting through mean of the ''Hitler salute'' or ''Ave Ceasar'' salute.
@default1337 Thats the nuke: Red Dust its ISA developed, the Helghast just stole it
i miss this intro orchestral music )':
@urbancombat1000
And Helghast actually hit what they're shooting at lol.
1 person missed the tank group on the left.
@Ninja7047 After the ISA's Earth backers took Vekta from the original colonists and forced them to live on Helghast. Their desire for revenge is understandable but they seem to have taken it too far.
Amazing quality!
Awesome soundtrack... epic intro... and Sev kinda looks like Jake Gyllenhaal, doesn't he?
They need to make a Killzone move.
You could give the weakest baddy or the guy everyone hates (in the game or out) an owned count, and whenever someone gets hit you have a random guy scream out "DOOODGE!"
i love the fact that the helghast are the modern "third reich" :'D so awesome xD
5:30, wow, Sev just got demoted.
Seriously, how did they fuck up like that?
The Killzone series is good. And I'm glad it's finally being noticed. I'm really happy that it got nominated in the VGA awards for best PS3 game and as usual the Killzone series doesn't win anything at the VGA awards. I am hoping for a helghast point of view on the Killzone Vita.
@george11693 As in, how we are dominating your puny joysticks?
graphics wise and maybe community wise they aren't but for me, consoles have stuff like Metal Gear Solid, Heavy Rain etc and I love them type of games. PC seems to be more multiplayer with stuff like Team Fortress, Crysis, Battlefield etc. Just preferance.
@FrankDHpEpisodes No offense dude, but I really LOVE the Call of Duty games (got MW2 and Black Ops for Christmas with my 320 GB PS3, the 60 GB one died T-T).
