I think the prime reason it didn't sell is because, once again, NOBODY FUCKING HEARD ABOUT IT. Nowadays, you can get away without advertising your game (much), but back then, it was crucial for sales if you wanted to actually compete with the more popular games. This is exactly why those old amazing games like Psi-Ops and Timesplitters never sold well during their run. You know how I heard about Timesplitters? In a damn pawn shop.
SEGA is and always will be my favorite company and it was great to see these games mentioned as one. Dreamcast was amazing and is why I own most of these listed titles
I was 12 when I got my Dreamcast and I’ll never forget how much fun we had with it. My brother played the NFL 2K and NBA 2K games and I had Sonic Adventure, SA2 demo and Jet Grind Radio. After finding out that JSRF and Gun Valkyrie are pretty much dreamcast games I went out and bought an Xbox. Been having loads of fun picking up where we all left off. They had so much more coming up for the console in 01-02. RIP Dreamcast

@@MichaelSmith-fq5yr The balance of the game is designed around you dying enough that you want to pay for a continue so even if some day they made a stand alone release it's balancing would be wack as a result. I'd also argue that just cause a game is free doesn't make it impossible for the games microtransactions to be predatory, see literally every gatcha game ever made ever. Also because they chose to make the progression tied to microtransactions this singleplayer game is now tied to a central server and will one day just dissapear once that server goes down. So yea I'd say that calling it annoying is an understatement. I get that most of this is the nature of free to play games and that Let It Die was kinda an experiment into that market but still doesn't make it any less appealing to me. I'd rather just buy a full game if I'm gonna play it. But perhaps I'm an anomaly because free to play does extremely well.
Heads up, Crazy Taxi 3 was also released on PC in Japan and Europe 2 years after the XBOX version. With a community-made patch for modern systems called CT3Tweaks. Lots of people just don't know this; I only found the port back in 2015, and the patch is very recent. (this year iirc)
Do GBA next, that one had a really interesting set of sega published games, including a game called Revenge of Shinobi that somehow is not a port of the sega genesis game of the same name.

The saddest thing is Sega's output has dropped dramatically after the Xbox/GameCube/PS2 era. It's probably because they had a lot of games already in the works and had nowhere to put them after the Dreamcast died. Still compared to the first five years after they became a software company compared to the last 15 their output is microscopic.

I remember that game. You get to be a badass Spartan warrior slaying Roman soldiers and mythological creatures. Way better than that devs recent games.
Genome Soldat I spent so much time in the Arena Mode just having random battles in the coliseum and other areas you could unlock during the game via random collectibles. The amount of people on screen and carnage were unreal for consoles at the time, shame it never got the attention it deserved.
I remember that Crazy Taxi 3 had a PC port, but is probably very likely to be extremely expensive or very rare to find aside from pirating it. There is even a community made patch that makes the game HD. Nice video!!
Sega re-released Jet Set Radio on Steam in 2011 with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, NiGHTS into Dreams, Sega Bass Fishing, Crazy Taxi and Space Channel 5: Part 2 as a Dreamcast bundle. That's it though.
The only thing that would of made the original xbox the perfect dreamcast 2 would of been either powerstone & powerstone 2 ported on a single disc or a powerstone 3.

I always looked at XBox as a continuation of Sega as cancelled Dreamcast games found their way to Xbox and the 360 had so many Sega games available to download on the arcade store... the xbox one kinda dropped the ball but at least it still gives us Phantasy Star and pretty much all the Sega games from 360s arcade store can still be played on Xbox One... also, Sonic games with a Xbox controller just feels right. Playing Sonic on a PlayStation controller of any kind has never felt natural to me

Sad we will never have a port of Panzer Dragoon Saga, because Sega has lost all the source code and assets. They either reverse engineer everything from the compiled binaries off of a Saturn disc (hope they still have one or they may add an extra $1400 to the project bill) or directly start a remake - I guess the second approach will be cheaper xD
You know, it's kinda weird Sega put so much support towards the Xbox, but didn't port SA1 or SA2. It would've been much closer to the Dreamcast versions due to the increased power of the Xbox compared to the Gamecube. (I know the GCN is more powerful than the DC but, the DC's lighting effects were better than the GCN and PS2, so lighting was kinda broken on SADX and SA2B). Maybe they wanted a portable Chao system to match the VMU, and the GBA was a good fit. Microsoft didn't have any dedicated handheld, especially one that connected to the Xbox *iirc.* I still had tons of fun on the Dreamcast and Gamecube versions of SA1 and 2 though lol

ToeJam and Earl 3 isn’t too bad, I had fun with it. JSRF was my jam, I had the split game with Sega GT and I never touched Sega GT. But, Panzer Dragoon Orta, that was one of my favorite games on the Xbox, as a child it was the most badass thing ever

Spartan Total Warrior is one of my favorite games ever. One of the most underrated games imo, literally no one EVER talks about it.

Once again I'm just amazed none of these games have been re-released.
I mean they just in the last year re-released that Japan only US president in a mech game from fromsoft.
Maybe eventually we'll get an Otogi collection even if knowing our luck it's a switch exclusive.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu Man im asking for that for long i even wrote to the Xbox director to at least make Otogi 1 and 2 playable on Xbox one X which would be enough for me as it improves resolution and framerate and maaaan i need that Performance boost for Otogi 2... game is so amped but also so laggy when everything starts to explode.
