Congratulations you’ve come this far and it feels overwhelming because it’s new 💪🏼 you have the girl power. It will get easier soon keep positive and don’t think of the stress nor nervous it will all pay off . God Bless you please don’t cry omg I cried with you
Im literally in the bathroom, I feel like that's the only break I get from studying. Im on "spring break" this week but my exam is next Monday. Welcome to nursing school🙄😣😒 Im thankful and grateful that its my last semester😁😁😁 Pediatrics where I want to be
Hi Lady! Thank you so much for this! I love seeing another Black PNP doing her thing! I. Totally. Agree. With. You. In the differences between FNP & PNP. I am a dual FNP PNP, however I initially started as a Dual PNP in AC & PC but switched during Covid due to job security and lack of acute care experience (aside from Pediatric ER)Peds is my heart though! Keep doing you. Very proud! I cannot wait to watch more videos.
Hi Jenean! I just got accepted into UCSF’s MEPN program With the PNP specialty. I’m so excited & eager to get into it & your videos have been so helpful & inspiring. I would love to connect & just talk more with you about everything. Thanks & keep up the amazing work !
Hooray for DITL vlogs! Jenean your spirit radiates and you looked amazing on your first day! It’s always the hardest and you look like a pro doing so. Congratulations and we can’t wait to see more vlogs❤️
Congratulations beautiful 😍. I love your videos. You are giving me major encouragement as I am in FNP school. Look at God! You were the only provider.. woww. That's wonderful 😊. You were able to use your knowledge and new skills to treat patients. Can you do a video on what you usually treat while at the urgent care, especially with pediatrics? Thank you.
Good luck with your journey! I am sorry you had a rough first day, just remember your first few weeks as a new grad nurse, it's the same, but the consequences of missing something are far greater and I think you were feeling that. Keep your head high, things will get better, you will learn the ropes and it will get better!!
You did great! So inspiring and honest! How did you decide btwn fnp and pnp and do you think it’d be hard to get a job at a Pediatric’s office with fnp?
i personally had no desire to become a FNP at the time because my entire RN career was with children and babies. I will say it is a very small specialty and I did primary care. I wish I found a dual program to work as either acute care or primary. With primary your options are limited to working for an office. And after 10 years of being a nurse and working 3 days a week me adjusting to 5 days a week was difficult.
How long did you work as a pediatric nurse before becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner? How long would you advise to work as a pediatric nurse before going onto higher education like a dnp?
I worked as a pedi nurse for 6 years before I became a Pedi Nurse practitioner. I would at least get 2-3 years experience and if possible work while in school. If definitely increase your knowledge base working as a nurse prior to becoming a nurse practitioner
So primary care pedi Np and acute care np are technically two separate careers. So you would have to get the education for both if you wanted to do both for example if I wanted to practice in the hospital setting I would have to go back to school, do clinical hours and get a post masters degree and sit for another board certification exam which would take about another year and half to two years. So the questions is if you want to work inpatient or outpatient. There are some programs that offer a dual degree to where your can get both but you would still have to take two certification exams. Hope this helps
@@jeneansjourney I see. Is there a way to do primary PNP and then get the post certification right after? I guess the way I see it is I would like to do primary first to get the feel of healthy kids. Before I jump into taking care of critical kids. I don’t know if that makes any sense. Or it might be I just can’t decide. LOL
In that case when you become a nurse you should try and get experience in pediatrics which will probably be as an acute care nurse in the hospital setting and that will let you know if you would like to practice as a provider in the inpatient or outpatient setting.
Depends on what your interests are? If you like working with both mom and baby then postpartum is good. If you like working with babies that are born premature then NICU would be a better fit. Those units are different but some hospitals let you float to the other units and maybe you can float to the one unit you don't work on full time
Your doing Amazing Giving Info about Nursing on UA-cam!! Keep up the content! Your hard work is paying off ❤️😎
Ok thank you, what made you decide to be a pediatric NP and how long is schooling for that!!!

Awwwww you will get there. It just takes alot of time, Patience’s and dedication. Just stay strong and you will eventually get there!!
Awesome video. Do you care to share your spreadsheet?
No I dont mind at all. Do you want to email me and I will send it to you that way!!

What camera do you use to film? I love your vlogs ❤️
Thanks!!! Cannon G7X
how long of an orientation did you have when you first started the NP job?
I had one week, but I was lucky enough to complete all of my clinical hours at the urgent care where I got my first job, so I didn't need that long.
My dream is to be a pediatric np. Would you recommend doing primary care before acute certification or just going straight for acute ?
So primary care pedi Np and acute care np are technically two separate careers. How long did it take you to finish schooling from your RN BSN
It took me 2 years to complete but that’s because I completed 2 years of pre-requisites prior to applying to nursing school.
@@jeneansjourney ok thanks 🙏🏾
Do you think postpartum nursing is a good unit to work in ? I’m thinking of NICU or postpartum
Depends on what your interests are? If you like working with both mom and baby then postpartum is good. If you like working with babies that are born premature then NICU would be a better fit.
