Good to see Glasgow in such good weather! If you watch Still Game - "Cauld", about 27 minutes in, when Victor turns on his electric fire, it cuts to an outside scene showing where his house was.
Been in the USA for nearly 20 years now, but I'll never forget my Maryhill roots. Had many good friends from the Valley, the Butney and the Wyndford. Thanks for this mate. It was an emotional journey. Some nice upgrades around the place too!
Thanks for the tour mate, am from Newcastle but love Still Game and always get to Glasgow for a couple of weekends a year, we stay in the city and just get on the drink to be honest.
I’m a first generation Australian. My dad was from Maryhill. He lived in Napiershall street.Cheers to all my long lost relatives from down under🇦🇺🏴👍
A great wee trip down memory lane for me , cant believe how much change has taken place in certain areas since I regularly drove a few of those roads 1970 and 80's . I woked in Lomond Street which was just about in view at the very end , behnd the Vogue on Balmore Road . The changes on Ruchill street with new homes and then on Bilsland Drive are amazing to see . I also have a very early memory in early 1950's visiting one of my mums sisters and husband in a small flat in tenement that overlooked the old Maryhill barracks . They were very much still in use at that time . Thanks for sharing
That was excellent Paul. The lad's were on the 14th floor which I thought was great as I also live on the 14th floor of a tower block in Bedford. Maryhill looks lovely and the Viking looks like a great place for a pint. I might get up that way this summer for a couple of days, it's definitely on my to do list. I like that they left that lovely stone wall around the Wynford estate, it really enhances the area. Remember when Winstons' leg went flying through Jack's window with all his money stuffed into it? Haha, that was hilarious. And yes, I remember the episode outside the flats with the ice and the non- slip shoes, priceless. Thanks for posting, great content. Kind regards.
I was born and raised in Niven st .I then moved to craigmount drive ,then to stirrat st and then Whitelaw st .my parents were born in maryhill but moved to langa st in cadder. My family still live in maryhill. It's all changed now I wouldn't recognize it now .
I used to go to Glasgow when I was young and I stayed in Mary Hill at my sisters house and when my mother passed away we buried her ashes in her dad's grave and I'm sure that was in Mary Hill as well 💔
I’ have been watching still game for the 8th time now this video pop up on my UA-cam.... I wish they make more series like that...btw I learnt some Scottish too through the show...❤❤❤
Hi, George Hutton, my wife was born in hopefield Rd in 1953,her full name was Mary Hutton Gorrel Hannah. The two middle names are after her grandparents I'm sure so you and her are probably related.. Lol her dad's name was Hugh Hannah, does that name ring any bells?
Just came across this one. That street u started off from was the street my wife was brought up in. She lived there till she was 10 before the family moved to garthamloch.
Hi Paul please would you be kink enough at some point to return to Maryhill. I would like to see all Semour Street including the cinema that I was told used to exist there. I know there has been a lot of work in the area to improve it. Glasgow generally is beginning to look really good with all the regenerative housing projects going on. It’s a beautiful city anyway with all its parkland and historical architecture. Thank you once again for taking the time to make these videos. Continued blessings upon you and your family.
