The short nose has nothing to do with aerodynamics. It is to allow the saddle to be placed closer to the bars, without violating UCI rules that limit the extent to which a saddle can be placed forward, measuring from the tip of the saddle to the bottom bracket line. It also removes some of the friction that might occur with the tip contacting the inner thigh. A short nose is not, however an advantage, because there is less space to slide forwards and change your position and weight distribution over the BB, which can be an advantage in a seated climb or a sprint.
If you've ridden the original Flite, you should like this saddle. It's has a flat profile that's pretty comfortable. I'd highly recommend checking your sit bone width before purchasing a Selle Italia saddle though - they have a very nice fit system that ensures you pick the right saddle for your anatomy. www.selleitalia.com/size-guide/

The screws could be use for mounting accessories such as taillights / saddles but I don't see anything specifically listed as compatible. Ergon saddles for example come with a Topeak QuickClick adapter that can be used with bags / lights.
