  • We give you a full farm tour and overlay some of the first videos we took in July 2023 during a 10 day visit. See how overgrown and dry the farm was compared to now, in winter 2024.
    We've done an audit of what we have on the farm and tell you what we paid for it.

    Well I think you have done really well too. A perfect basis to take your time renovating and taking us on the journey.

      Thankyou. Weather hasn't been great last couple of weeks but hopefully turned the corner now. Been blowing a gale last few days so it'll be nice to be outside again ! J

    I'm sure Barbara is thrilled that you'll be doing all the laundry from now on. 🤣
    Thanks for the tour & update: this is going to be such a lovely farm & house.

      The laundry runs are a bit of a pain but we try and have a routine , chuck washing, coffee and pastry, dry washing and then do food shop.
      But (other than a fridge) a washing machine is a high priority once we get a decent water system in place from the well. That's hopefully happening in the next couple of weeks....fingers crossed. Thanks for watching J

    I wish you all the best. Your land is awesome. I would like to make a suggestion: Can you ask the town council there to pave the road to your land and outside lightining? I think you are contribuiting to regenarete your land and at the same time to add value to the whole area. Take time to rest and enjoy everything you have there. I'm here to follow your progress.Tons of good health and tons of
    happy years to enjoy your land. A Portuguese from Lisbon.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

      Thanks Isabelinha, we love the farm and the views are spectacular. Unfortunately we are the only people living on this track and we are 1km from the last bit of tarmac road. To be fair the council have repaired washed out bits of the track after heavy rain but that's as much as they will do. It's not too bad and I've seen worse. We try and buy from local businesses and employ local help when we can. We are part of this community now so we must support it. Thanks for watching x J

      Thanks. Yes still trying to improve and those first videos weren't meant for youtube. My language was far too rude to put out there !

      Hi Rick, yes it's a lot of work !
      We need to give the land a bit of a reset as it's not been used for about 20 years other than a few olives being picked. Early stages of a longer project for sure ! J

    You need to get a water test kit before you drink it. It might be only usable for the land, it could be full water borne bacteria or nitrites

      @greenerinportugal  7 місяців тому

      Yep, we have a test planned at the local city laboratory. Might also put in UV. Thanks

    Great video presentation & editing. there's lots there to keep you busy for a few years. We're just renovating a 2nd home just South of Coimbra, so in a similar situation to yourselves, although we're not planning to move to Portugal (at the moment anyway!). Have you managed to find local trades people to help with any building work, or are you intending to do all of the works yourselves?

    • @greenerinportugal
      @greenerinportugal  7 місяців тому

      Thanks Stuart. Yes we will be doing the majority of the work but getting some experts when needed. We live in a small village so luckily there is always someone who knows someone else to do a job. We want to support the local smaller business where possible as well. We like Coimbra area as well and we did look for properties there (and Tomar). This one just ticked all the boxes. Good luck on the renovation of house 2. J
