- The classic Nike Air Max BW from 1991 is returning in the original "Persian Violet" colourway. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, these runners don't have the same level of prestige or fame as some of its counterparts like the Air Max 1 or 90, but is still considered one of the most iconic Nike shoes from the early 90s. Will go for these: the synthetic materials tend to be fair robust and durable, and with good overall craftsmanship, seems like a pretty decent retro overall.
Love the BW. Don’t seem to be too popular in the US, but when I lived in Toronto used to pick them up whenever they dropped. Got the last 2 releases of the Persian Violet and thanks to having access to Canadian addresses due to family in Toronto, was able to grab several different pairs off Sneakers Canada when it seemed they were dropping the BW regularly for a time a few years ago with Euro/Canadian releases. Hope they come here. Good vid.

I had the black leather iteration of these back in the early 90s. They were my first pair of AM. They also released in. Atmos Japan so hoping we get a release of those in Europe.
These were the airmax I fell in love with I used to keep the cut out from the catalogue

These dropped here in Chile a couple of weeks ago in the only local boutique that brings these type of releases. No draw, they just dropped online. I’ve always wanted to get them and never was able to. I got them without even thinking about it, they sold out instantly.I received them last Friday and I love them. Just like you, I expected more comfort, so I hope they break in more. Greetings Sean!

I owned a BW pair 20 years ago. I also bought the 2016 release. I wish they had more options than 'persion violet'. Back in the 90s there were dozens of colours to choose from, both in leather or synthetic.
You're in luck cus there is a BW city pack which is set to release this year.
The red ones coming out too and a variation of these violets with more black on em...they used to have a blue and turqouise pair that were dope too. They got some on stock x for the hi hi...

AM BW launched at select accounts including a very small # in Canada, even though there was no "official" drop date locally. nike's authorization level for each account dictates that retailer's models, size runs, inventory, warehouse source etc.
Out of all the original air Max’s these have always been my least favourite air max 1 being my faves but seeing these on foot I have to say i think they look 🔥 but still don’t think it’s enough to buy them after I’ve recently copped the clots, bacons and the scream green huaraches in the same month #broke lol good vid as always and we’ll done on the 100k subs, been with you since about 10k ! The frenchiest Nike Air Max of all times, that was my first nike in 2007/2008 when I was 5/6/7 years
I picked up the 2016 pair when Nike put them on clearance for about $70 last time around. I don’t see them sitting with this release though, definite cop.

I had a pair of these in cream back in 1995 I think. I only had them for 7 months because I was a kid and my feet were still growing so had to give them to my sister. I like them but at the same time I kinda prefer the Air Max 1's. Not sure if I want them again...
I used to love BWs i only wore BWs all through the 90s i had loads of different colourways..
The duckface is why they are better than 90's. They fit always and look much better. And of course for gabber

Awesome review Sean. I am excited for this sneaker. As for fit, I also have a slightly wider foot and go 10.5 US in AM1, AM90 and AM95. I go 11 US in AM97, AM98 and AM Plus. Would you go with 10.5 in this silhouette if you we me? Thank you!

My first ever 'premium' sneaker! Back in 91 I saved up wages and got the BW in Cream / White / Black nubuck but I recall the quality was better than these redos. I'm still picking them up purely for the vibes.

Hey, what are these pants you were wearing in this video?
I find it really odd how the air bags compress quite a bit on the on-feet shots, but they don’t feel cushy. I also don’t feel that retro Air Maxes are that comfy, but I suppose the bags on mine compress just as much.
The bags and midsoles are different than they used to be so while they’re more comfortable than airmaxes 5 years ago they aren’t more cushy than airmaxes 20 years ago. And I agree 90s(recrafts) are only comfortable with no insole.

A bit of an overlooked classic, but the look of that collar was always a sore point for me.
I swear thats the only part I dont like...not a deal breaker tho.

Nike Cropped woven pants
The only thing I don’t like about these shoes is the tongue slips down the side of your foot.
2:43 I can't believe how designers who put a great effort in making the shoe look cool ignores the appearence of that ugly cuts on hte tips of purple fabric that ends at the lace area. I can even see the white sponge under the purple fabric. This makes this shoe look like a chineese fake because such `cheap` trim jobs are mostly seen on fake shoes.
It's frustrating that the Nike design lead gave a green light to this faulty design.
You might say, `it's a small detail that is only visible on close up'.
This shoe has many details and textures that is only visible at closeup, so they should make sure that all parts have the same visual quality.
I just copped a 2015 pair of BWs from a Goodwill store recently and I love them!💜🖤🤍 I usually wear a size 10.5 but when I stopped by a Nike store in 2022 to 😂tried on a pair in that size, it felt too tight. I tried a half size up. It felt a little better but not quite comfortable yet. I went up to a size 12, my feet felt perfect in the toe area. I waited until I had some money to buy them but they sold out quick. The BWs I copped at Goodwill are a size 12 so I feel fortunate.
