  • In a culture of constant pressure and loss of your expectations, we can find ourselves burnt out. Hear from Senior Pastor Paul Basden on the importance of grieving the loss and finding rest.

Needed this today and it resonated with me especially when you brought up how medical trauma and unresolved past can help to tip the scales. I’m having burnout as a volunteer in my small church. I am a stage 4 cancer survivor dx in 2019 and a new Christian and found Jesus in the midst and a great Bible -based church, but my family has taken a lead role since early on in many weekly and time-intensive task which has left me feeling overwhelmed and burnt-out to the point I just want to run away and start over somewhere else at a church where I can just show up and have no one expect anything from me while I continue to recover from the craziness of my life crashing down with the dx at 28 weeks pregnant, then a new baby, then a pandemic…. It was just a lot and I’m not prepared to have people depend on me to the extent its being expected. Just needed to get that out. Please, pray for me and my family if you wouldn’t mind.

What is the true Sabbath? Exodus 20: 8-11 says its Seventh-day... why you said that its Sunday, when if you follow the 10 commandments it should be Saturday.

I personally believe that in today’s culture, it is hard to determine when the actual “Sabbath Day” is. It didn’t give a specific day in the Bible when the Sabbath day is, that’s just what our modern culture has been telling us is that it’s on Saturday or Sunday. All the Bible says it that God created everything in 6 days and rested on the 7th. As long as the individual person is taking a day of rest from work to spiritually refill and recover and give God praise, that God will honor it as that being that persons Sabbath.
