I really love your videos!! I´m from Peru and it´s really good to see young catholic people in USA who lives their faith and want to share wiht others. Keep with this channel and goog bless you all :)
There are a few sins-that-may-not-be-actually-sins specific for Peruvians:
-Having gone to Catholic high school (Marist, Inmaculada, Carmelitas, Champagnat) but sending your kids to English-only (non-religious) schools (Roosevelt, Markham, Newton)
-Having gone to a boys-only or girls-only high school but sending your kids to a co-ed high school.
-If you are high in government, skipping the Mass ("Te Deum") at the Lima Cathedral on Peruvian Independence Day.
-Being friends with a non-Catholic person in Peru, you know, the two or three of them like the Israeli or Saudi Arabian ambassadors to Peru.
-Not naming your kid after a saint
-Not dressing purple in October.
-Having lunch at "Pescados Capitales" pescadoscapitales.com/ (Actually, they should turn it down a nacho).
-Next one needs some background: The three enemies of the Christian life are the world, the devil and the flesh. Except that in Spanish it is translated to, "mundo, demonio y carne" hum, the world, the devil and "the beef". So, I thought, as long as I ate only fish, chicken and seafood when I was growing up I would be forgiven for all sensual excesses

#7 may not be a sin but its a punchable offense. Nothing worse than someone loudly eating while you're trying to study.

Depending on your motives and consciousness of what you're doing, double dipping IS likely a sin.
As someone who grew up protestant, it was a sin to go trick or treating... (sad memories of loneliness and no candy :( )
A lot of it comes down to intent, I believe. If your intent is to revel over the dead or glorify demons rather than celebrate the saints the next day, then yes, sinful. If your intent is get enough candy so that you'll likely develop diabetes, then yes, sinful. If you don't intend anything sinful and just are participating out of a desire to have fun with friends, not sinful, despite the origins. Just my thoughts.
But as a homeowner, I'm pretty sure participating in devil's night/mischief night on October 30 is a bad, bad sin, lol.
this makes me glad to be catholic! God bless, this makes it more meaningful to me, because this is how i really see the faith!
Your videos are really great- I relate very much to them as a Catholic college student myself. You've mentioned St. Bridget's novena a lot in your videos, so I looked it up, specifically the 7 prayers to be recited for 12 years. There are 5 promises associated with the prayers, but while I've been able to verify that the actual prayers came from St. Bridget, I haven't been able to verify the same thing with the promises. What is your opinion?

As someone who works in IT, #9 is definitely a sin. Also, I'm charismatic non-denominational, but I really enjoy this channel. Reminds me that we as Christians have more in common than anything that should divide us.

Under the Big Dome, I can't tell if you're being serious or not. If you are, please note there is a lot of humor in the Bible and especially the Gospels. Jesus has a sense of humor. Look at John 8 and the almost Abbot and Costello-like skit with Jesus' frequent use of I AM where people hear I am, or even at the fact that the only apostle who got out of the boat and tried to walk on water was the one Jesus renamed as Rock. The books of the Old Covenant are full of puns (mostly lost in translation, but NAB has frequent notes on these) and irony, too.

Serious question... Is smoking weed or drinking alcohol recreationally sinful?
+lovingboarding Asked this of my priest recently, minus the weed part. Drinking in serous excess is not inherently sinful, but committing sin while under the influence certainly is, and drinking too much is gluttonous. So no, but possibly yes.
+lovingboarding I would say if you took enough to harm your body's cells permanently, yes. Small amounts, are a gray area.
General Rule: Treat your body as a Temple of the Holy Spirit.
+lovingboarding I've thought about this a lot as I know many people who partake in both of these things quite often. My understanding is that alcohol is not a sinful thing. Consuming alcohol is not a sin mainly because alcohol does not always lead to being inebriated. Becoming unable to make wise decisions, IMO. is putting one's self in the near occasion of sin. It is stated that getting drunk is a sin. Mainly because it keeps us from making wise choices and it also keeps us from discerning God's will. Getting high can run in the same category here because it is a form of intoxication/inebriation. There are, however, more reasons why smoking weed is a sin in comparison to drinking alcohol to excess. The reasons for this is that it is illegal to smoke weed in a recreational manner (medicinal use is not illegal and may not be wrong). But doing anything recreationally to the point where it compromises your functionality or cognitive abilities to discern right from wrong can be sinful. I hope this helps. God bless you and yours.

My family is Christian but like, a weird Christian. Compared to other christians. My family celebrates feasts. We don't believe any of the saint stuff. We don't eat pork, at all. But we still go to church. We love God, but we're different. 🙂
