Plant Christmas trees on that slope. It takes 12 years to get to 6ft so wouldnt obstruct your view. The roots hold the mountainside/hillsides together which prevent land slips / landslides. Planting bushes would do it too but if you planted a Christmas tree every year you can chop one down each year. Also create log piles for mushroom production, hugelculture grow beds, seasoned dry fire wood.

The growth rate is not uniform! It varies from site to site based on the amount of rainfall, sunlight exposure, quality of the soil, and tree species. In the forest service, we used a parameter known as "site index" which is the number of feet height a tree grows in 50 years.

@@markbaier4421 there have been loads around the world. I wouldnt want it to happen to anyone, this family has worked so hard to build their own home and are good people.... check out zaytuna farm recent video about 100yr water flooding event and you can see how root systems prevent land erosion and slippage even under such extremes.

@@601salsa Yes, that is exactly what I was thinking when Jeremy was cutting down those big evergreens. Erosion, erosion, erosion. Especially in that mountain area, they are living. I'm one who gets upset when a perfectly healthy tree gets cut down.

Mu sister and brother in law have a very similar view in the Rockies of British Columbia. My BIL would sit in the evenings and stare at the mountains. I foolishly asked him one time..." Don't you get bored of the same view every single day?" He said nope...it is never the same view twice. Now when I am older I appreciate what they ( and you) have.

Remember that trees hold the soil in place, stops soil erosion, so if you don’t want your hillside to crumble don’t take down too many, evergreens make the best firewood so don’t burn them up unless they have pond beetles👍🚫🪚🚫🌲🌲🌲

Gosh, when I was 12 I was taking care of our yard, mowing etc. making breakfrest for my younger sisters, well almost everything that needed to be done because my dad was on a Navy ship and my mom worked 4 or 5pm to around 1 to 2am and slept during the day. We know just how you feel about living your dream. 26 yrs ago we moved into a tiny house and over the years we have made it into our “dream”! We have added on a large addition, a barn, an inground pool and so many other things, turning a small vacation home on 8+ acres into our dream home ( still incomplete ). We were much older than you when we started (in our mid to early 50s) and the process has been hard on our aging bodies but we have loved the process! Finding a place that you feel is your dream is something most people never experience and we are grateful that we found ours, as I’m sure you feel about your homestead there in Idaho. Enjoy the process and hopefully you and your family will have years and years of enjoyment. So proud of you and all the accomplishments you have made on your “dream” home! Love watching you fulfill your dreams and look forward to seeing it completed!!! You are an awesome family! 👍👍

This home is going to be so beautiful. Love the stone. Do talk to someone about if you need to mud the drywall though and put up a barrier over it in case there would be a moisture issue behind it as that can be common with it on an exterior wall in winter. You don't want mold behind it and I would highly recommend a smoother backspash for cleaning purposes. The colors of the stone are perfection with the mountain view and the floor. Can't wait to see it finished. How stunning.

    • @pamelabranch5865

I was thinking the same regarding backsplash. The stone is beautiful but would be very difficult to clean splatters and grease off of the rough uneven surface. But they may have something planned to take care of that and we just haven't seen it yet. I actually have uneven stone tiles on my counter tops (already there when we purchased) that will be replaced ASAP. It is horrible to get things out of cracks and crevices.

It's looking great! Have you thought about purchasing a wood chipper? It would save the CO2 from the environment caused by smoke (one might not matter, but it's the accumulative effect of a lot of people doing it), and the chips could be used as mulch or as garden-path covering, so it's a win-win - using the resources to their fullest... just a thought.

It is the rough/ uneven surface of the stone that is going to make cleaning more difficult because food and dust will get stuck on the uneven surfaces. Yes it will be beautiful but I would highly suggest something with a smooth surface to make cleaning easy.

Always thankful for another video from you guys. I love the way you plan things ahead. You sure you can manage your kitchen area clean up with the fake stones though ? Just a thought. Stay safe in your little piece of Heaven

You could use all of those felled trees to put up a wash rack/tack up area for the horses. That’s what we did when we cleared. We also built a pergola out of the thicker trunks. Looking great!!
