What I love about this channel: years ago (i’m76) I had a couple of acres. I didn’t build our home but 35 years went into it. I raised 78 chickens, six calves at a time. I planted my own oats and Susan grass and harvested them myself (weed eater). I loved watching my two girls inter act with the cows, chickens, dogs, cats, and guinie pigs. Especially watching from the kitchen window while the roosters would chase my girls. I watched my grand kids run around those vast amounts of land enjoying themselves etc etc. Your channel brings back all those memories when my back was strong as a bull and I could handle all of the tasks that you two do. I see myself in these videos and I cry that I can’t do these anymore but I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to do so. Keep up the good work and take extra care with your precious backs. I would give anything to be where you’re at now. But I’m so blessed that I did at one time.
I've been saying for a while now... that everyone, once they reach 25, should spend at least 6 months as a 75 year old. They would treat their bodies FAR BETTER, and also likely appreciate more what they currently have.😏

That’s one of the resins most of my comments are about safety. Tractors, ladders, lifting etc. you only have one shot at this so take the few seconds longer to do it the correct way. This is he reason I can’t work like this anymore. I just say this because I love you two.
In all honesty ..the chandelier is perfect! At first I thought "oh no monstrosity", but when it got hung it really defined the space and the feel you want in a "lodge" or cabin type home. You have a good imagination and vision Jeremy. And Melissa, I got teary eyed with your remarks about the kitchen and the experiences you look forward to in there. (You have to show us your spanakopita recipe!) Lastly, your kids did not miss out on "normal" .. you have given them a life and memories that most of us wish we had - what is now "normal" is not a good thing anymore! Best thing you have done is save them from what is now "normal".

If I did not know that you were doing this, i would have thought a pro film crew had done it. The house is already a home, you are just trimming it out. I remember Kirra's reaction during framing when she asked, " all this is going to be the pantry?' I would have liked to have seen her reaction now. The layout of it is perfect, with the 'kid pantry' right where it needs to go. She is growing up so fast and is looking more and more like her beautiful big sister. In all you have kept your focus on the family, the beach day and the kid shots of them out and about on the farm are great and give a sense of what you are doing all this for. Your closing remarks were spot on. Our grandkids, now all in their twenties, and the moms and dads, still get together in the kitchen, make cookies, cakes etc, and talk about how gramma and granpa used to do this with them. You are doing it right dear lady. |We gave them memories, not goodies. It is something that they will carry forever as your children will do also.

The elk antler fixture is perfect for that huge expanse of the ceiling area, it needed a statement piece just like that, so very good choice. As for Kira, her little needle felted bunny is so cute, I love it. I love your family. I am 75 and grew up on small farm in Ohio. You 2 remind me of my Mom and Dad. They cut out some of our woods by themselves with cross-cut saw. My Mom was only 4-foot-9. They used the lumber to build an addition on our old farmhouse. You have rabbits. We had 100 chickens, ducks, hogs a horse and many dogs and cats. You 2 have the same grit, determination and love. Keep the wonderful videos coming.

Beautiful! I love the “monstrosity!” Y’all have finally shamed me into getting out of my procrastination chair, go into the den and put together the bookshelf that came in April. Granted, I had a few months of a health issue that was a great excuse for not tackling the project. Well, that’s over, so I’m cutting open the box tonight (it’s July 23) and getting it done. BTW: I can’t wait to see all of the canned items in that incredible pantry. Good job!

We are about three weeks away from moving into the house my husband and his father built. It has been a journey full of pain and sacrifice but I believe it'll be well worth it for our five kids to have a comfortable home built with love.

A friend has a beautiful mountain cabin, with a few antler sconces. These were naturally shed and collected over several seasons. These pieces are gorgeous, and of course have stories behind them. The fact the the animals weren’t killed to obtain them is awesome. Love the cabinets, especially the peanuts one, I’m all over your junk drawer and the pantry is to die for.
I was a bit nervous about Jeremy’s monstrosity but it looks perfect! It blows me away at how quickly everything is coming together! I will admit I am a wee bit jealous of all your kitchen/pantry cabinets and shelves! But the fact that you guys are nearly to the place where you can just enjoy everything you have worked so hard for makes me so excited for you!!

I've been watching this channel for I don't even know how long but I'm so excited for you all with how far you've come. Growing up with a disabled, veteran dad and a mother whom didn't work a whole lot due to taking care of him and having not much of anything it makes me happy to see success stories. I work full time and have a wife and 3 children now and will be 35 next month. With child care expenses it made more sense for my wife to be a stay at home mom than for her to work as well so that is what we do and have done since around 2012. Supporting all 5 of us by myself is the biggest challenge I've ever faced and still face and I can only dream of doing what you're doing and while I daydream it is wonderful to actually watch it become someone else's reality. I'm not one of those that is jealous of what other people have and accept that life is what it is and I am genuinely thrilled for you all!
I have a friend from school who used to make those using real antlers…they are beautiful! I like yours and can hardly wait to see it up! I love your home and the view from your property!

We have a vaulted ceiling at our place with an open floor plan, similar to yours. We put in a big ceiling fan. It helps so much keeping our loft cool in the summer and the lower level warm in the winter without chasing anyone out of the loft. That fan helps so much. Being in central Pend Oreille county, we do not have AC. Our house rarely heats up over 75. Even last year with the crazy heat. Your place looks so nice. It reminds me of the years I built ours. Your cabinets are so beautiful!

You 2 remind me of my Mom and Dad. They cut out some of our woods by themselves with cross-cut saw. My Mom was only 4-foot-9. They used the lumber to build an addition on our old farmhouse.
You have rabbits. We had 100 chickens, ducks, hogs a horse and many dogs and cats.

Beautiful! I love the “monstrosity!” Y’all have finally shamed me into getting out of my procrastination chair, go into the den and put together the bookshelf that came in April. Granted, I had a few months of a health issue that was a great excuse for not tackling the project. Well, that’s over, so I’m cutting open the box tonight (it’s July 23) and getting it done.
BTW: I can’t wait to see all of the canned items in that incredible pantry.

We are about three weeks away from moving into the house my husband and his father built. It has been a journey full of pain and sacrifice but I believe it'll be well worth it for our five kids to have a comfortable home built with love.

A friend has a beautiful mountain cabin, with a few antler sconces. These were naturally shed and collected over several seasons. These pieces are gorgeous, and of course have stories behind them. The fact the the animals weren’t killed to obtain them is awesome.

I was a bit nervous about Jeremy’s monstrosity but it looks perfect! It blows me away at how quickly everything is coming together! I've been watching this channel for I don't even know how long but I'm so excited for you all with how far you've come. Growing up with a disabled, veteran dad and a mother whom didn't work a whole lot due to taking care of him and having not much of anything it makes me happy to see success stories. I work full time and have a wife and 3 children now and will be 35 next month. With child care expenses it made more sense for my wife to be a stay at home mom than for her to work as well so that is what we do and have done since around 2012. Supporting all 5 of us by myself is the biggest challenge I've ever faced and still face and I can only dream of doing what you're doing and while I daydream it is wonderful to actually watch it become someone else's reality. I'm not one of those that is jealous of what other people have and accept that life is what it is and I am genuinely thrilled for you all!

We have a vaulted ceiling at our place with an open floor plan, similar to yours. We put in a big ceiling fan. It helps so much keeping our loft cool in the summer and the lower level warm in the winter without chasing anyone out of the loft. That fan helps so much. Being in central Pend Oreille county, we do not have AC. Our house rarely heats up over 75. Even last year with the crazy heat.
Your place looks so nice. It reminds me of the years I built ours. Your cabinets are so beautiful!
