@Yoy Piur my iron and hemoglobin was low on every test, then I went on an almost zero carb diet and a very quickly came up into the normal range. There's a video on here about this from Dr Berg within the last few months that shows that glucose in the blood blocks iron from getting into the cells. So even though I was taking iron supplements twice a day, it was helping some but still not in the normal range. I was amazed how quickly it worked when I got rid of almost all carbs. The only carbs I eat now it's from the very little whole milk I will have with some half and half cream and eggs and I'm trying to cut that milk out as well to try and get down to a true zero carb

My grandmother had high cholesterol. When she was 82, the doctors wanted to give her a triple bypass. She laughed at them. When she was 97, my mother, a nurse, asked my grandmother’s cardiologist about her heart and cardiovascular health. He responded that he wished his was as good as hers. My grandmother lived to be 100 years old with high cholesterol.

was on blood pressure med and cholesterol med for 10 years while consuming all the wrong things not having a clue to what I was doing to myself. So 3 years ago started the journey going off both medications slowly and with cardio and whole foods it's a mixture of emotions initially because of all the lies we've been feed and the suffering people go through . That was a really fascinating explanation and seems like most people of my generation (late 60s) have been given a largely incorrect view of a healthy lifestyle. So many people were told to eat diets of low fat but nothing mentioned negatively about carbohydrates ... and yet here we are with so much obesity which is killing people well before their time! A revelatory video Dr Ekberg!

I’m late 60’s too and it was never, EVER “ open season” on all carbs in our household . We grew up knowing the distinct difference between junk food highly processed carbs , sugar and rubbish foods . My mom , much to her belated chagrin, fell for the low fat propaganda & bought into the grains and complex carbs push ( wholemeal, multi grain etc etc ) but we were never allowed refined carbs and unadulterated sugars at home . It seems we r always quick to blame gov’ts and big business marketing for our own gullibility & poor decision making but at the end of the day commonsense still plays, & always did play , an imp role in what went into the pantry . Fortunately the low fat craze started a decade after we were born so we were given a good head start on our bones, teeth and general foundational health. As much as we sometimes envied the kids who were allowed pastries, cookies, sweets ,cola etc I’m one of millions who still had the advantage of intelligent, commonsense parents.

High cholesterol is a sign of good health, and most people who live beyond their 80s have high cholesterol. The ratio should be one on one, but we know we don’t live in a perfect world. When the ratio is dramatically out of balance is when behavior needs to be adjusted, if not previously. Basically, we want a balance as close to one on one as possible.
2% of your body weight is cholesterol, 25% of your brain weight is cholesterol. Your body uses cholesterol everywhere to repair everything.
Your body produces cholesterol… It produces more when you are not in taking much and it produces less when you consume more cholesterol. No reason to ever interfere with your cholesterol.

Thank you Dr. Ekberg, as usual, a very helpful video, thank you! I started to watch your videos around the third quarter of 2018 after my bloodwork showed I was prediabetic. I believe I got to be prediabetic after being on cholesterol medication for about 2.5 years after my dr. put me on because my cholesterol was 228. So in late 2018 after watching your videos I stopped taking the cholesterol medication, started a low carb diet and my A1C went back to normal within five months later. As of Oct. 2022, the last time I had bloodwork my A1C was normal, my cholesterol was 257, and my total calcium score was 1, which I asked my dr. to prescribe since he has been pushing me to go back to taking cholesterol medication. By the way, I'm 58 been active all my life. Again, thank you!

@19:55 - To determine your risk, don't use a Standard Blood Tests measuring standard markers (total LDL & HDL Cholesterol). Request the medical lab to also test for Metabolic Health markers as well (Insulin Resistance, LDL Size, and Homocysteine).

Dr Ekberg please address how to reduce Remnant-C cholesterol to prevent myocardial infarction (heart attack). I've read studies that state high Remnant-C cholesterol creates a high risk for heart attacks. "Remnant cholesterol, also known as remnant lipoprotein, is a very atherogenic lipoprotein composed primarily of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) and intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL).[1] Stated another way, remnant cholesterol is all plasma cholesterol that is not LDL cholesterol or HDL cholesterol,[1] which are triglyceride-poor lipoproteins.[2] However, remnant cholesterol is primarily chylomicron and VLDL, and each remnant particle contains about 40 times more cholesterol than LDL.[3]
According to one study, high remnant cholesterol is more predictive of myocardial infarction than any other lipid particle.[4] Remnant cholesterol is especially predictive of coronary artery disease in patients with normal total cholesterol.[5][6]
High plasma remnant cholesterol is associated with increased plasma triglyceride levels.[7] Hypertriglyceridemia is characteristic of high plasma remnant cholesterol, but persons with high plasma triglycerides without high remnant cholesterol rarely have coronary artery disease.[8]
Remnant cholesterol has about twice the association with ischemic heart disease as LDL cholesterol.[9] Although remnant cholesterol tends to be higher in people who are overweight (high body mass index), normal-weight persons with high remnant cholesterol tend to have a higher risk of myocardial infarction.[10]
Remnant cholesterol is associated with chronic inflammation, whereas LDL cholesterol is not.[11][2]"
